The Official Instructions for Use of the #kin-shep Tag & Description of the @kin-shep Support Program.
@kin-shep is a wing of the Steemit Hospitality Engagement Program, @s-h-e-p. We are the hosts for traveling help and we are the kin in need of a helping hand or group engagement. Whether it is an offer of room and board in exchange for help with personal projects at home or organizing a gathering for skill shares or celebration, when we put out a #kin-shep call, the @shep-heard listens!
Our intent is to raise global community engagement through mutual support, resource and skill sharing--all without monetary exchange.
This article will help you understand how to best present your #kin-shep posts in order to achieve maximum engagement and support through the @kin-shep and @s-h-e-p programs.
How to Create a #kin-shep Post
While the presentation and content of your #kin-shep post is entirely up to you, we do have some recommendations to help present detailed + comprehensive information.

First Things First, Introduce Yourself!
Are you a single stay at home dad with four kids and an indoor pet pig?
Are you a couple with a dream of building a sustainable homestead?
Are you a college student with extra space in your apartment and no time for chores?
When you are looking for places to stay and new people to work with, you want to know a good bit about them before you meet up, right? Now is the time to introduce yourself to your followers and your @s-h-e-p community! Be detailed about yourself, your family or pets and your home so that you can be matched up with the right #shep-heard.

What Do You Need + What Can You Give?
Are you looking for specialists in herbology + wildcrafting to help out at a local skillshare gathering?
Do you need help at home with the household chores?
Are you working on a project that requires some expertise or simply an extra hand?
Are you looking to share your skills with other @s-h-e-p members?
Can you provide helpers with a room, a place to camp, or a tent?
Can you provide helpers with 2 or 3 meals a day? What diets can you accommodate?
or...
Are you simply offering room and board for someone freely?
Be specific about what the help entails, noting how many people you need/ can host as well as the physical ability, language comprehension and skills needed to complete the tasks.
Humans host a range of different abilities and skills; be aware that some jobs simply won’t harmonize with some folks + be kind in sharing that recognition. Also, remember this is a global community, and we intend for travelers of all linguistic backgrounds to be able to find connection within the Steemit Hospitality Engagement Platform.
If you are simply trying to engage in a skill-share interaction, be clear about what various skills you have to share and what you are interested about learning in return. Providing a place to stay and meals in exchange for learning a new language or gaining specialized knowledge means more access to educative information outside of the monetary system, bringing more power back to the people.
This program intends for the listening labors of the #shep-heard to be answered by the #kin-shep host through a place to stay and meals to eat. This doesn’t necessarily apply to all possible #kin-shep situations, but please note what you are willing to share with your #shep-heard in trade for their conscious efforts.
Perhaps you are feeling rather generous, angelic even, and would like to offer a room and meals to a traveling #shep-heard free of trade/ on the house/ gratis. This is definitely alright with us!
As long as you make it clear in your post what you are looking for and what you will offer, and you are doing it right.

Timing is Everything
Share your intended timeline for each of your steps.
Include calendar dates for relevant details:
How long do you need help for and how much help per day/week are you expecting?
How long do you estimate the project will take?
When is your gathering or work-party going to be held?
When and for how long can you host a #shep-heard guest?
By posting the dates you are available and looking for help, you are more likely to receive responses within your timeframe! Not only is @kin-shep and @shep-heard more likely to curate your post, but the people responding can understand more about when the post is “live” and how long the help is needed.

Give Them More
We recommend sharing a little extra about you, your place and what you are looking to get from your interaction. This includes things like:
House Rules and Expectations
Expectations of Helper (e.g. Health Insurance, Quiet Hours, Social Engagements, etc.)
Hobbies and Interests
Causes/ Ideals You Support
Why You Chose to be a Kin
While all of these points are simply examples of things to share in your #kin-shep post, remember that the more details and photos you provide, the more likely you will find the connections you are looking for.
Using the Tag
By using the #kin-shep tag in your post, it ensures that the @kin-shep curation account and the #shep-heard steemit users can easily find your post among the plethora of steemit blogs.
Not only will the @kin-shep account upvote (and with permission, share) the blogs it curates, we can help connect #kin-shep kin with #shep-heard community to increase mutual engagement and support.
You are free to post to the #kin-shep tag as often as you’d like.
If your situation stays consistent, definitely link back to your first #kin-shep description post so you don’t have to rehash all the nitty gritty. Simply add any new details and fresh active dates before posting!
When you use the #kin-shep tag, you are encouraged to share your post in the HomesteadersOnline Discord Room specific to the program. These rooms provide a longer-term (more than seven day) feed of the #kin-shep articles, as well as a simple way to contact the users directly through their discord account. This is an optional step, but we encourage the use of these rooms for simplicity and streamlining.
Making Your Post Extra-Visible
While the only required point of participation is using the specific tags, you are free (and encouraged) to put your post on the SteemitWorldMap created by the talented and gracious @martibis.
We encourage #kin-shep users to add their posts to the steemitworldmap as this is the stable + grounded wing of the @s-h-e-p community.
Kin of the @s-h-e-p program posting under #kin-shep are likely staying in one primary location, their home! By marking your location on the map, traveling #shep-heard users can search the map and find out if there are any steemit users in need where they are or where they are traveling. This location marking is helpful for folks looking for rooms in exchange for labor, and provides good information for precise organization of workshops and festivals.
You are also encouraged to put project progress posts from #kin-shep or #shep-heard experiences on the SteemitWorldMap. We would love to see how far the @s-h-e-p community flies!
Be sure to give support to SteemitWorldMap by following @martibis and the curation account @steemitworldmap. You may even be lucky enough to receive curation votes or features from the group of curators over at @steemitworldmap!

From SteemitWorldMap, you can search for #shep-heard or other #kin-shep posts by clicking filter and typing in the tag you are searching for, author and date are optional. The posts with that specific tag will then appear on the map!

Remember that steemit allows comments past the week editing period, so some users may provide additional links to more recent posts in their comments. You may want to even check their main blog for more current information if you have discovered a post that is past its prime.
@S-H-E-P was put together by @notconvinced and @coyoteom and builds off of existing platforms such as @steemitworldmap created by @martibis, as well as the hosted rooms within HomesteadersOnline Discord Server.
@S-H-E-P is special in its method of bringing people together. With the only required action being appropriately tagging your post, there are no issues with entering passcodes or downloading new programs to utilize the system. You don’t even need to create a seperate profile, as your diversely detailed and personal steemit blog serves this purpose already.
Help Us Help You
Since we are a young initiative, we can use all the help you’ll give in sharing and expanding our wings’ reaches to the far edges of the steem blockchain. Posts may be slow in the startup of our program, but we hope to have a hefty amount of traffic as the project lifts off from the ground.
Help us out by engaging with the program’s accounts @s-h-e-p, @kin-shep and @shep-heard through comments, resteems + likes. Share your posts in the #kin-shep and #shep-heard tags, and spread the word of mutual non-monetary based support with your friends and family.
Thank you for your time and interest in the @s-h-e-p initiative, friends!
May you find the support you need through involvement with the Steemit Hospitality Engagement Platform.
Till next time!
