Sumatran tigers are a population of Panthera tigris sondaica[2] that inhabits the Indonesian island of Sumatra and is the only surviving member of the Sunda tiger subspecies. It is classified as critically endangered on the IUCN World Conservation Agency's red list of threatened species. The wild population is estimated to be between 400-500 individuals, mainly living in the Bukit Barisan Mountains and the history of Gunung Leuser National Parks.
