Community Series #7: Dumbest Thing You've Ever Done

in communityseries •  7 years ago

We've all been there. That moment after the fact where you realize that was not the smartest thing you ever did.

This week on the community series, we are going to laugh at ourselves a little. Feel free to share your not so bright idea or action (extra points if it turned out painful).

My Story

When winter comes in Pennsylvania, a favorite pastime of the Sipe family is snow drifting. Thankfully, we have a few empty parking lots that are out of sight from the main road, and don't have any no trespassing signs.

Our vehicles are quite adept for the slide show, and my Quattro drive Audi is the drift king. Unfortunately, pride cometh before the fall.

One particular drifting session, I drove too close to a light pole in the parking lot, and slammed the side of my car into the concrete base. Because of the angle of said crash, the only way to get away from the concrete was to drive beside it while it scraped the side of my car. I was not pleased with myself.

The damages were a dented fender, and bent steering knuckle. $700 later the car was good as new, and we were back drifting two weeks later (it's only money).

What is your story?

Lol!

$700 is a mini heart attack for me :D

Haha, uh oh. :D

I used to commute with a fellow teacher who loved 'drifting'. The one time I recall, we ended up on the lawn of a corner house, inches from the foundation wall. He simply reversed the car and drove off leaving the tell-tale tire marks in the snow. It looked very dramatic and recklessly erratic, which it was. After that, I drove alone.

Yeah, that wasn't smart, haha.

The Damage hurt's man

Pain is temporary. :)

i just scrolled down too much pain in one pic

Lol, too much to imagine!

Yikes! Great story my good friend.

Thanks!

You're welcome.

$700! OUCH! I would kick myself! Hmm, Ill have to give it some thought and do up a post on this.

Haha, it hurt the wallet for a time.

I remember reading a warning on a chain saw from the East " Do not attempt to stop chain with your hands or Genitals" I wonder what initiated that?, does make it painful to think about!

Do not attempt to stop chain with your hands or Genitals.

Lol, oh my! Makes you wonder what the story is behind that one. Painful indeed!
