Planning For My Dream Rig

in computer •  7 years ago

It's been a dream to own a Gaming Rig in my life ever since I got myself into playing games during secondary until the end of my university life, therefore I've been missing out a lot of big title games from various publishers around the globe.

The most powerful laptop that can be used for gaming now is my 2011, Asus N53SN packed with an Intel Core i7-2670QM processor and Nvidia GT 550M GPU. Other than that, my current MacBook Pro isn't suitable to play any of the game titles out there but at least it still supports World of Warcraft at a low-end graphics setting.

Thus, it finally opens back my dream rig build again, I've been planning & working on it and hopefully, I'll get it this time round and STEEM/SBD prices hopefully able to fund at least 50% of the parts that I needed.

Intel Core i7-8700K Processor (CPU)

Intel has been always dominating in the gaming scene over the past few decades over AMD processor, as well as consuming less heat and using lesser power on load. I have been doing minor overclocking back with my i7-2670QM and this i7-8700K also open up a huge potential in overclocking capability which suits me well.

My decision hasn't been finalized yet if Intel decided to launch it's Intel i7-9700K 8C/16T by the time I'm getting the parts and this monster processor might be in my list as well.

Asus ROG STRIX GTX 1080Ti (GPU)

In the world, where 4K and VR are slowly making it's way to becoming the standard in the gaming industry and GPU power must be on par to do all the heavy rendering. GTX 1080Ti makes the one of the best value gaming card other than the Titan V/XP with their hefty pricing.

Thou, rumours has it that Nvidia Turing, next-gen GPU architecture for the 11-series/2-series GPU is releasing soon end of 2018. I might pick up one if it's on the shelf in Malaysia and it can last me for another 5-10 years before I need to replace the GPU again.

Cooler

I might be looking at AIO coolers rather than fan cooling as I'm looking to do some overclocking and this cooler must be sufficient to maintain the temperature below 85C under load at least. While studying off some positive and negative airflow that needed to be installed on a casing.

If budget allows, custom liquid cooling is definitely a look into it.

Casing

Showcasing the working part inside your rig while gaming is a must as for many rig builders out there and I've been eyeing on Thermaltake View 71 or NZXT H700i

Thermaltake View 71
, comes with 4 panel tempered glass (Front, Top & Sides) that allow to see through on all views possible, the only downside is very heavy

NZXT H700i
, a premium and minimalist looking design mid casing that looks neat on the table.

Just few of my parts that I'm looking on it and decision might change during the course of gathering the fund for it. In the meantime, maybe you can share your custom rig for me to reference it along my decision making to settle down on which parts to go for.
