The Atari ST is a line of home computers from Atari Corporation and the successor to the Atari 8-bit family. The initial ST model, the 520ST, saw limited release in April-June 1985 and was widely available in July.
The Atari ST line of computers were launched in 1985 with the Atari 520ST. It included an 8mhz Motorola 68000 CPU and 512kb RAM. Later models, called STFM, had a built-in floppy disk drive, RF-modulator and had the power supply built into the case. "ST" means Sixteen-Thirtytwo, because of the CPU's 16bit data bus and 32bit internals.

My first computer was a Commodore 64 I got, I think, at the end of 1986. My second computer didn't come until August 1993 and that was a 486 DX2-66 PC from Gateway. In the years in between I always lusted after the Amiga but I would have been pretty happy with the Atari ST also. Don't get me wrong though, I loved my Commodore 64.

I have a Commodore 64 and a Commodore 128 laying around... I'm still bringing myself for a return, to code some stuff. I was thinking about making Coomodore 64 a controller for my home-garden.

Yeah, I'm following The 8-bit Guy's gamedev, I'm thinking about buying his Planet X2 game for Commodore 64.

I got our first (real) computer, a windows in 2001 or 2002. It took the whole family a while to learn, and while I was young you could say I was the best user of that computer (Paint was my favorite program.)
But we had my mother's MSX before, the difference was a huge that I didn't consider it as a real computer (hence my first line.) From the GUI of your Atari, I could say it's more advanced that MSX, at least it didn't have GUI/WYSYG interface, it works by cartridges (most of the ones we had are educative) and I was too young to actually do something with it.
Ah~ Good times~

Tough to compare. It was such a huge upgrade from 8 bit. To me it was like going from what we have to quantum computing!
