This is an early concept design/ visual development moment for an animated stop-motion feature film. The film is based on the story Auntie Claus by author Elise Primavera. Unfortunately, the project was shelved due to a change in direction, but it was still fun to work on. This scene depicts when the star of the story Sophie sees the North Pole for the first time. It's early morning and the worker elves are all in the midst of starting their work day. The North Pole, a wild blend of the many ideas Santa Claus has had over the years appears to almost be a Rube Goldberg sort of contraption. To most, this would be overwhelming, but it reminded Sophie of her home in NYC.
