One day two nights conference which took place in SPCC (sunway pyramid convention centre). It’s a movement started out by planetshakers church to reach out generations, ignite the fire and empower followers of Christ to be on fire for God and expand the Kingdom of God. The heart of them is to create an environment where people all over the world could come and have a personal encounter with God through an extravagant worship and impassioned preaching of God’s word.
I just realised this is my third time joining this conference since 2016. Except I didn’t join for the whole sessions for 2017 but only night admissions. Without a doubt, I had the best experience and greatly enjoyed my time there, both personal and also in a group.
We went there together in a group of 7. Ian and I, alongside with hometown church friends, Ivan, Bennet, Ryan & another two new friends, who are Joshua & Brandon. To be honest, I wasn’t as anticipate in the very beginning for this conference because I was persuaded in signing up last year September by Bennet. It was not a good attitude of mine, partly because I thought I can expect what is going to happen since I’ve already been there for two times continuously. That so-called “been there, done that…” attitude. It’s bad, I was wronged by God after coming to experience Him.
However, as time gets nearer to the conference, I felt excited because all of them haven’t been to any conference and this is one of a big thing / first time for them. It stirred up my passion and enthusiasm in looking forward.
Truly enough, on the first night (opening session), it was a bomb. From the setup, to the schedule and flow, everything was very superb, eye-opening and majestic. The stage was set in the middle, which made the crowd surrounding the centre. It started out with Chelsie singing then followed by the band that came into worshipping. They mainly played their new album songs. My few favourite songs are Alive again, You’re the greatest, You’ll never leave, We speak life and New levels.
Sermon was shared by Pastor Andy about LIT. He uses the example of a candle in reflection of God’s light. We’re the candle for God. How we are designed and made to ignite that light within us, burning and light up the path for our nation. Sometimes, I asked myself why would I want to light up this small little candle in me, when it seems little and nothing to others. The truth is it’s actually the main source and direction under the dark room. It may seem small and insignificant to me personally, but it’s huge help and impactful to someone who goes through the dark, or under the dark.
Fun fact: Do you know that the speed of light in a vacuum is 186,282 miles per second (299,792 kilometers per second), and in theory nothing can travel faster than light.

I remember the altar call greatly touched me. Pastor Andy emphasized on restoring our faith, returning that love and faith for God especially to those who had fallen out.
For the second day, Pastor Neil Smith shared about the sound of God. How we are the important voice for God. Another session by Pastor Sam, she shared on a very simple yet profound message on faith as a believer. She has this anointing from God, very faith-filled and powerful every time she shared and lead us into the presence of God through worship. I remember two years ago, it was her message that I broke into tears, as she preached for deliverance in 2016. I still remembered how I was set-free from my fears, struggles and bondage of sins. As for this time round, she shared on that authenticity of how we can come before God, listening to the Word of God through the personal relationships. How our faith in believing who God is, not bound by who we are. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing the Word. Faith is a gift from God to His people who believed and trust upon Him. Ephesians 2:8-9 “For it is by grace you’ve been saved, through faith, and this is not from yourself, it is the gift of God, not by works, so no one can boast it.”
During the evening, the most awaited time of all, where we all are free to choose different electives to learn and receive. I decided to go for band, worship for first session. It was very good as they run it in a Q&A setting. They attempt to answer and give their thoughts on whatever struggles and questions by the crowd. I love how they said that worship is a lifestyle. One girl asked how did you know a confirmation from God to serve when she only saw this word “Worship” during her personal moment with God. Then Joth Hunt said, worship doesn’t necessarily mean to be in the band, playing instrument. As long as the things we do, intend to dedicate for God, it’s counted as worship. For example, ushering, preaching, dancing, drawing etc.
For the night session, Ps Russel titled his sermon as “The River of God”. He encouraged us to entrust ourselves, to be set free by letting go and be fully immerse ourselves into the blessings, presence of God. Just like how Peter chose to have faith, and only he can completely experience the mighty hand of Jesus anchoring him without him being drown. Just that step of faith and decision, we can experience the supernatural and extraordinary miracles in life. The river of blessings, favour, strength, power, wisdom, and many more. One verse he shared that spoke to me the most, Psalms 34:7 “delight yourselves in the Lord, and He will give you the desire of your heart.”
The sessions and contents are pretty simple, but profound. It is significant and carry weight. Sometimes I reflect on my life, things can be as simple as giving a smile to people around us, or ask them “how’s life going”. It may seem simple and mundane, but its significant in a sense that people may be touched and turn around just by one simple questions that lead them to be opened up, and experience the power of God through your simple act of love and genuine care.
Through this conference, my mind is renewed, heart is refreshed, faith is reignited, and energy is revived. What a good way to kick start my year 2018.
Thank you God.
