Showers Moving Through Dry Wednesday Through Saturday
Showers are moving along this morning from west to east as the next cold front approaches. Much of the Eastern US is covered in clouds this morning. The good news is that this is a one day issue as everything in the atmosphere is moving along for the time being. The tropical moisture continues to lie to the south and will remain suppressed to the south into the start of the holiday weekend. On the southern end of the tropical feed extending into the Northwest Caribbean is low pressure which has a shot at developing into a tropical depression or perhaps even a tropical or subtropical storm later this week. We will discuss this separately later today.
EASTERN SATELLITE
REGIONAL RADAR
Local radars are revving up with some showers as they move to the east. Some heavier downpours are in the mix as well. Could also see an isolated thunderstorm pop up in the mix late this afternoon or evening and perhaps one or two more showers overnight. Temperatures today will likely hold in the 60s to some lower 70s.
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA
Weather conditions improve quickly on Wednesday with morning clouds giving way quickly to sunny skies with highs in the 70s to near 80. Thursday looks great with lots of sun and highs in the upper 70st to lower 80s. Friday and Saturday we will be into the 80s both days with a fair amount of sunshine.
SUNDAY MORNING MAY 27, 2018 GFS MODEL
The next cold front arrives Saturday night with the chance for showers and thunderstorms. After that we will see the front settle to our south and high pressure building to the northeast. This means the onshore flow is back for Sunday & Monday which at the very least puts us in clouds and cooler air. The question of whether tropical moisture comes back up with rain depends on what happens to the system in the Caribbean which emerges into the Gulf of Mexico later this week.
SUNDAY AFTERNOON GFS MODEL
While the GFS insists on taking the low in the Caribbean/Gulf of Mexico into the west coast of Florida other models gravitate northward toward the Central Gulf Coast. These differences could be due to the broad nature of this system and the fact that perhaps it will remain broad and disorganized and more subtropical or even non tropical as it moves north or northeast. Eventually this moisture does get up here regardless but it is a matter of whether it begins to impact our weather later Sunday night & Monday or does it hold off until perhaps Monday night or Tuesday. Those are the weather forecast questions that lie ahead. In the meantime at least we have Wednesday through Saturday; 4 nice days once we work through today's showers.
