Showers Overnight Severe Weather Threat Tuesday
We are going to be at the mercy of a buckling frontal boundary to the south of us over the next several days and beyond. We are seeing some showers and thunderstorms tonight passing by to the west and south of our are though a few showers are moving through parts of Eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The heavy thunderstorm activity for now remains to the south. We have a developing wet weather pattern for the coming week which means that we will be dealing with on and off rain and temperature fluctuations depending on the front to the south waving back and front from south to north and then back south again.
EASTERN SATELLITE
REGIONAL RADAR
You can see the showers well on the regional and local radars as they move southeastward. The heavies are in Southern Pennsylvania and heading into Maryland and Northern Virginia. Once these play through we should see just lots of clouds for the remainder of the night with temperatures in the upper 40s to mid 50s.
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA
Monday for now looks to be rain free with clouds and maybe some breaks of sun developing. Highs should attempt to make it back into the 70s. Then a warm front will try and move through Monday night into Tuesday. Late Tuesday it comes back as a cold front. We should get into the 80s Tuesday but that creates unstable conditions in the atmosphere and a good chance for late day thunderstorms. Some of those could be strong or severe.
The weather pattern looks wet all week with this frontal boundary going back and forth. JOESTRADAMUS addresses this in his long range post.
Also there is disturbed weather in the Eastern Gulf of Mexico & over Florida producing some heavy rains which the National Hurricane Center is monitoring. We have all the latest on this here.
