Slow Improvement Monday Onshore Flow Remains
This time of year the onshore flow issue is always going to create problems at the very least for coastal areas. Even when you have the main frontal boundary offshore, if you don't have a solid push of dry air you could have cloud issues. Right now the frontal boundary remains close by. We should see that boundary shift further east tonight and Monday and this should allow some improvement from north to south on Monday with clouds giving way to some breaks of sunshine. Along the coast it clouds could take longer to get out of the way.
US SATELLITE
REGIONAL RADAR
Much of the rain today was well inland north and west of the coast but there have been some areas of light rain and drizzle along the coast and that continues this evening in a few places. Radar trends show the rain shifting eastward and they should gradually get out of the way during the overnight.
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA
Monday remains on course with clouds giving way to some sunshine from north to south. Temperature today were stuck in the 50s to some lower 60s. We should see 60s on Monday. Tuesday and Wednesday should be partly sunny but we need to watch the low clouds to the east.
GFS TUESDAY MAY 8, 2018
While the onshore flow persists it is rather weak. The frontal boundary is further offshore on Tuesday. This at least leads us to lean optimistic for Tuesday and Wednesday with no worse than partly sunny skies. Tuesday's highs will be in the 60s. Wednesday with a little luck we should reach into the 70s away from the ocean. Thursday sees the next cold front approaching with increasing clouds and a southwest wind. Temperatures should be in the 70s away from the ocean. The front doesn't look all that impressive so if there are going to be showers, they will scattered around Thursday night before it dries out on Friday.
