Sunny Start But Clouds Showers Loom Later
We are starting off the day with lots of sunshine. The visible satellite picture shows beautiful clear skies overhead but this is going to be short lived. Surrounding all this is a very large upper air trough that is dropping southeastward from Canada into New England. This is going to bring a cold front through here late today and tonight. The air is actually rather dry so there isn't much for this front to work on. However the upper atmosphere is very cold and the June sun will go to work on it creating some downpours and perhaps one or two scattered thunderstorms later today into this evening. Not everyone will get these but beware of the risk. Temperatures today should reach into the 70s in most places.
EASTERN SATELLITE
REGIONAL RADAR
Even though it its still early in the day (as of 8:30 am) there are already some showers on the regional radar so the atmosphere is already revving up for some issues. Enjoy the sun while it lasts.

Once this front moves through tonight we will see some clearing of skies with lows by morning in the 50s. The upper trough will be still overhead on Wednesday so look for sun to start and then clouds developing again with the risk for an isolated brief shower. Highs will be in the upper 60s to some lower 70s. Then finally on Thursday we should see sunshine from start to finish with highs in the 70s.
Friday we will warm up back into the 80s with some sunshine before the next cold front arrives over the weekend. This is going to be another slow moving frontal boundary with another round of showers and thunderstorms to sort through. Right now it would seem that Saturday day side should be mostly dry but please note this is a very early call. At some point some showers and thunderstorms are likely to develop but perhaps not until late in the day. The threat for showers looks to last into at least the start of Sunday. Then another big high builds down from Canada so the cool pattern continues into next week and they are likely to continue in the long range.
