Sunshine Through Saturday Temperatures Rise

Memorial Day Holiday Weekend Outlook

We continue to see improving weather conditions this afternoon and evening as clouds diminish and sunshine gains control. Dry air is coming in from the northwest and we will be in good shape here through Saturday. Cloud free or virtually cloud free skies will carry us into Saturday afternoon. Temperatures will be in the 70s to near 80 on Thursday and then climb into the 80s Friday. Saturday will be a beach day for sure and the only beach day of this holiday weekend with highs in the 80s to near 90. Showers and thunderstorms with the next cold front do not arrive until Saturday night into Sunday morning.

With nothing to worry about radar wise into Saturday we can jump ahead to Sunday and Monday. A weather front drops southward Saturday night and puts us in an onshore flow for Sunday and Monday. At the very least it will mean clouds and lower temperatures. Depending on cloud cover and any showers it could keep temperatures in the 60s to lower 70s both Sunday and Monday.

SUNDAY EVENING FORECAST MAY 27, 2018

There are some questions regarding the GFS here as far as the tropical system to the south. I think its too far east and it will likely be more toward the Central Gulf Coast. We think its position of the back door front is going to be to our south. The cooler temperatures are a given. The shower activity is a harder part of this forecast. We don't think Sunday and Monday will be washouts but there will definitely be some showers running around both Sunday and Monday.

Odds are increasing that a tropical depression or tropical storm could form in the Gulf of Mexico. The stage could be setting up for flooding rains across much of the South. JOESTRADAMUS has the latest on this.
