Very Warm Tuesday Onshore Flow Develops
Wednesday Thursday
Looking at the satellite picture this morning we are still dealing with cloud issues though they have moved out of the way in the Hudson Valley & Southern New England this morning. We will see some developing sunshine from north to south and very warm temperatures this afternoon with highs reaching the 80s to near 90 except of course near the ocean where the wind off the water will keep things cooler. Late this afternoon and evening thanks to the high humidity, there might be a downpour or a thunderstorm that could pop up in a few places so keep an eye out for this during the time of the evening commute home.
EASTERN SATELLITE
REGIONAL RADAR
Radars are quiet this morning though the regional radar does show some showers and thunderstorms in Southern Virginia and into Northernmost North Carolina. This is the northern fringe of subtropical moisture which includes the remnant low of Subtropical Storm Alberto. That moisture will not make any northward progress over the next 2 days.
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA
Today is the one and only very warm and humid day because high pressure builds down from Canada off the New England coast which turns the winds onshore for Wednesday. We will be 10 to 15 degrees cooler Wednesday with clouds and some sunshine. Highs will be just in the upper 60s to middle 70s.
Thursday brings the chance for some showers as some of the remnant moisture from Alberto gets involved with a slow moving system heading across the Great Lakes. We will also see the chance for showes Friday but this is not going to be a continuous rain. They should be more scattered in nature so there will be dry periods. Thursday's highs will be in the 70s and Friday we should be back into the 80s.
The weekend is not looking very promising as we will be under the influence of a blocking pattern and an unusually strong high for this time of year building southward from Eastern Canada. Low pressure will be developing to the south in the ocean and the result will likely be a return to east or northeast winds for days. Some rain is likely and when it is not raining, guess what,..low clouds and temperatures in the 60s. We will discuss this further in our long range outlook later today.
