Devide et Impera

The political history of fighting against one another, or what is often referred to as "divide and conquer" is a strategy used by political or military forces to weaken opposing forces by dividing larger groups into smaller groups that fight each other. This strategy has been used throughout history in various contexts, both by colonialists, rulers, and other parties who wish to maintain or expand their power. The politics of fighting against each other is a tactic that has been used for centuries to control and dominate larger and more powerful groups. While often effective in the short term, their impact can be very damaging in the long term, creating lasting animosities and difficulties in achieving reconciliation and stability. After a period of fighting against each other, it is often difficult for communities to recover and reunite because of deep social and political scars. Different groups may become dependent on the support of external rulers to fight their enemies, strengthening external domination. The politics of fighting against each other often leads to deep and long-lasting hostility between different groups in society. By dividing local powers, external rulers could more easily control the region without strong resistance.
