This diagram of the levels of consciousness always bothered me.
Why do people get stuck below fear and ruminate in shame, guilt, apathy and grief? How do we help people push past the fear and into the higher order vibrations? What is above enlightenment?
It never quite sat right with me. I realized that models like this are just a pathway to extremism at either end. Too far into desire past fear and you succumb to lust, envy, and covetous behavior that only damages yourself and others. But what about enlightenment? Is it possible to go too far into enlightenment? I think the answer to this question is unequivocally yes. You can’t keep your head in the clouds all day every day. At some point you must come back down to reality. Sometimes the path to ever greater enlightenment leads one to bring things into this world that should not be or that the world isn’t ready for. Case and point: Nuclear Weapons. The only purpose of these is to cause mass murder and generate more misplaced fear in the world. Which inevitably brings you right back down to ruminating in shame, guilt, apathy and grief. So how do we fix this?
To understand this problem I tried to think of the most extreme thought I could think, about the nature of the universe. In my exploration I delved into the New Age Trans-Humanism movement which is pushing hard for ever increasing levels of enlightenment, acceleration and ascension. So many claim within this movement that we are ALL God and that the unified collective consciousness in the universe is just an expression of our Higher Self. The ego trip behind this amused me. So many don’t realize that sometimes the path to greater understanding and enlightenment is to unlearn what you have learned.
I am talking here about perspective shift. It is an essential tool in the pursuit of truth and understanding. Stationary means stagnant. Here is a simple image that best represents what I am talking about.
So often we get stuck in our little box of perspective and shut ourselves off completely from any other point of view. We then gravitate towards others who share this perspective. We create around ourselves an echo chamber that shouts and evangelizes this perspective to each other while demonizing and attacking others with competing perspectives. Thus extremism grows to the point we think our perspective is the ONLY perspective that is true, right, good and pure. Wars are fought to achieve dominance over other competing perspectives, and people die.
How do we FIGHT this cycle of violence death and destruction?
How do we rise up and DESTROY extremism everywhere?
And by asking these questions you fall victim to the same extremism you seek to conquer. Extremism, like fear has a purpose. Its purpose is to serve as a mirror and a warning not to delve too far into its depths. Pull back and reset your perspective before you go too far. The true question we should ask is not how to extinguish or eradicate it, but how do we heal it. The world needs more doctors not more judges. The world needs more mental hospitals not more prisons.
To do that, I present you with the most extreme question I could think of relating to the nature of the universe:
What if God has dissociative identity disorder (DID) due to the pain and trauma of being utterly alone in the universe and humanity is the result. Would you:
1- Unify the psyche and suffer the burden of being utterly alone for eternity?
2- Live in ignorant bliss and risk eternal war for dominance over the other fractured pieces?
Meditate on these choices, explore them to their depths and then pick your poison.
If you have made your choice here is what your choice reveals about you:
Thank you all for participating in my “Which Extremist Are You Test”
Here are the results:
Choice: Unity
Path: Extreme self-sacrifice
Nature: Suicidal Introvert
Explanation: The burden of extreme eternal loneliness is no different than death. A unified consciousness in this condition would most likely choose to return to a fractured dissociative state given enough time and torment.
Choice: Ignorant Bliss
Path: Extreme sacrifice of others
Nature: Homicidal Extrovert
Explanation: In a war for dominance, elements of the fractured psyche would always rise up against tyranny and attempts at control. In order to maintain that control the one in power would have to continually exterminate those rebel factions from existence… leading the one in charge to find that one day they have extinguished all forms of resistance. And now they are utterly alone in the universe.
Sometimes the extremes are not so far apart as they seem.
In a continuum of consciousness extremist thought patterns grow ever increasingly in magnitude and polarization, backing further and further away from each other until…
They back into each other
Turn around and say
“Oh shit… there I am”
And shake hands.
Choice: I didn’t choose
Path: Extreme Balance
Nature: Integration
Explanation: Congratulations you found the hidden third path. Harmony lies in the balance and integration between two extremes. In this scenario you chose to maintain individual sovereignty whilst also striving for unity and fellowship with others. You understand that you are not God and neither is anyone else, but there is a higher power that connects and unifies each of us into a family unit. This is the nature of a Trinity: Father, Mother, Child. Each individual but together in harmony, becoming something greater.
Sometimes the best choice is not to choose.
Where does all this lead me in understanding consciousness? Consciousness is a continuum not a pillar, just like our pain and pleasure centers. The only thing that separates pain and pleasure is intensity and scale. Too much pleasure becomes pain and the conscious being retreats from the stimuli in order to settle back into a baseline neutral state. The consciousness then finds the courage to venture back out into seeking ever increasing amounts of pleasure until it finds that wall again and retreats away from it. This is how we heal and protect against extremism. Not by eradicating it, but by learning to reveal, retreat and heal from it. To this end I present you the Continuum of Consciousness:
The path begins at Neutrality and Courage and moves both directions on the levels of consciousness.
The Courage to face your Pride in self-confidence
Righteous Anger determined to root out the hidden strongholds of extremism within your own psyche
Desire to confront those strongholds and reveal them to the light and the fear of going too far
Leading you back to Neutrality and Willingness to shift.
Likewise, the Neutrality and Willingness to shift your perspective
Acceptance of other views that challenge and refine your own
Reason to sort out truth from lie
Love to accept and integrate the new truth you find
Joy in expanding your understanding
Peace found in finding a new connection to your Higher Self
Working together with this newfound connection to achieve new depths of Enlightenment
Tempered and protected by the Fear of going too far leading you back to Courage to face your Pride.
In this model Grief, Shame, Guilt, and Apathy become lessened and much easier to overcome. As an example of what ruminating in those feelings leads to, you have the Antithesis of Consciousness listed on the right. The path beginning with Extremism and Cowardice.
So how do we UTTERLY DESTROY extremism? By exploring it, understanding it and putting it in its proper place at the fringes of our psyche.
What is an End but a New Beginning, what is a Beginning but an Old End.
This is the mystery of the Aleph and the Tav.
Everyone needs healthy boundaries.
You still want to know God?
Good luck with that,
Just like the concept of nothing, how can the infinite ever be knowable?
The only thing you need to know is
God is!
Instead go study yourself and figure that out
While you are at it go study others too
Learn to relate and connect our similarities
Learn to love and respect our differences
Learn to identify and heal pain
Then you will know
#gnosis
My father once told me, "The Price of Freedom is Virtue"
I never truly understood what that meant as a child but it stuck with me. It means that the only way to overcome the tyranny of control is to make it irrelevant. We do that not by adding more police, judges and dictators to the world, but by teaching people how to police themselves.
#Reveal #Heal and teach how to #Shift

This is a great point about enlightenment. It’s sort of like an addiction to just sitting down, doing nothing, and philosophizing without accomplishing anything. I’d like to think action is necessary. And thanks for explaining perspective shift with a diagram, diagrams are awesome! My physics professor always emphasized diagrams for forces, but I think they should be emphasized for all things. For example, diagrams are helpful in programming, even though they are not emphasized much in that discipline.
The diagram helps me understand what perspective shift is, however, I think accomplishing perspective shift requires a lot of time and contemplation. It’s easier to understand than it is to do. I’m sure most don’t have the capacity to accomplish it.

Thanks so much brother! I appreciate your perspective. You are absolutely right and make an excellent point about action. That is the key to manifesting anything. Thoughts that lead to actions and actions lead to miracles.
For some people I'm sure perspective shift can be hard at first but like anything, the more you exercise it the easier it gets. I am hopeful for the future. All it requires is a willingness to self examine and be open to healthy communication and discourse with others. We'll get there eventually.
