First Ever Anonymous Age Verifying Beer Vending Machine – in partnership with Anheuser-Busch InBev

in consensus •  6 years ago

Today I saw on Twitter (Kenn Bosak) a great new product displayed at Consensus2018.
It was a Beer Vending Machine - developed by Anheuser-Busch InBev - where people can claim a free Budweiser using the Civic App and the vending machine. The Civic app enabled them to verify their identity using a document that contains their date of birth, via the Civic Identity Verification Marketplace. The app then interacts with a QR code on the vending machine, and only reveals if the person holding the phone is over 21 (legal drinking age in the US) and dispenses one 12oz can of Bud. This represents the first zero-knowledge proof age verification demonstrated in a real world use case.

Here you find the full description and working of the Beer Vending Machine and other great identity use cases at https://www.civic.com/blog. Cheers!

P.S. Next step is doing the verification by Civic on ABInbev's website instead of Facebook ;)
