Let's talk about Portland for a minute (it's still on fire)

When the Portland chaos began 130 days ago or so I had a few friends that lived there. These people, especially one woman that I went to college with, were extremely liberal as I think it is required of you if you are going to live in Portland.

Generally speaking, I refused to engage her or the other people I know there in any sort of political discussion because I already knew what their response was going to be regardless of what it was we were talking about. I was, however, privy to a lot of her political rants about the riots and how she would defend the rioters tooth and nail as she attempted to paint them as everything that they are not.

My friend (who I still consider my friend even though I think that politics, and living in Portland has given her minor brain damage) would use every opportunity to blame these riots on Trump and exclusively Trump. This was particularly true when Federal troops were sent to protect that one Federal courthouse or whatever it was and she would focus on just that one building even though the rest of the chaos going on throughout the city had exactly zero to do with Federal law enforcement.

Now it is 5 days of more rioting in Portland and well, she has been surprisingly (i kid, it is not surprising at all) quiet about the fact that the riots are happening at all. In fact, the media in general isn't talking about it a great deal and I think we all know why that is. You see, the media is already doing exactly what we expected them to and that is to only focus on bad things when it can be blamed on their political enemies, or most notably, Trump.

I don't think any sane person looked at what was going on in Portland or Seattle and really believed that it was Trump's fault in the first place, but my college friend did but then again I feel as though living in Portland has invaded her brain and negatively affected her cognitive capacities.

It is also worth noting that she quietly moved away from Portland and only made it known that she did so several months ago. She claims that it was because of a new employment opportunity but someone I know that is in the new area that she moved to has told me that she is actually unemployed now (I'm totally not going to dox this person, even though I am certain she would quickly do so to me.)

She has posted online that she is working somewhere but insiders (mutual friends) have told me that this is a total lie.

I would like to say that the same pressure would be put on Joe Biden to condemn the rioters the way that it was put on Trump, even though it is profoundly stupid to think that them doing so has any impact on these "mostly peaceful protestors" whatsoever. I also know that the media is going to do nothing of the sort and if they were to even ask Joe about Portland he might not know where it is.

Also, Twitter has been banning Antifa accounts in the past few days, even though they allowed them to stay in operation during the other 125 days that Portland was burning.

I also don't hear anyone crying about the use of pepper spray and tear gas that is being used now although when it was happening in the latter parts of 2020 it was suggested as though Trump himself was the one launching the canisters.

I also expect that Portland and Seattle will respond with much harsher tactics this time than before, because there isn't anyone to falsely pass blame onto now.

As trust in media enters an unprecedented all time low, It really shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that this situation is all but being ignored by the media and it will continue as such.

I spent quite a good bit of last year in Portland (in bursts, between Mexico and various travels) and the riots were almost never actually happening - and when they were it was almost exclusively in downtown where the federal buildings and courts are.

If you go a 10 minute drive away to NE, SE, SW, etc... everything is normal (as normal as you can expect from a left-leaning place during the scamdemic), people are out walking their dogs, kids playing in the streets, etc.

@KennysKitchen here - most of my accounts have been banned from STEEM.

They are trashing their own city and making the rest of America look bad. Eventually they will get what they want and they will ultimately have nothing in the end.

I stopped paying attention to this a long time ago because I have never been to Portland, already know that the mindset in all big cities on the west coast is something I consider a bit weird, and I knew right from the start that this was only being focused on as heavily as it was in order to try to make Trump look like he was responsible and racist. It is not a surprise at all that the media is no longer covering this, just like they are not going to cover anything negative about Biden or Democrats in general, ever.
