Claim : Humans couldn't have built the pyramids because it would require setting a stone every 30 seconds for 200 years.
And this, kids, is why we learned math in school. Let's check it out.
The Great Pyramid at Giza is reported as having 2.3 million stones. Gee, that is a lot! If one is set every 30 seconds that's 2,300,000 * 30 = 69,000,000 seconds. That's a lot of seconds! Maybe.
There are 86,400 seconds in a day (60 seconds * 60 minutes * 24 hours). 69,000,000/86,400 = 798.6 days, or about 2 years, 2 months, and a week. Assume they worked 12 hour days and it's about 4 1/2 years. Throw in some holidays, and maybe it's 5 years.
That's at that rate of stone laying. It's estimated it actually took 27 years to build, at least 5 times as long as our estimate. In other words they only had to lay a stone every few minutes. Quick work, but much more plausible for mere humans.
