I never really thought about this much because JFK Jr.’s death was before a lot of my political awakening, but it does seem like a sure thing that he would have eventually become President if he had not died, likely better said if he had not been murdered.

Before his death he was just beginning his political trajectory: He had been thinking about running for the N.Y. Senate seat — he even had meetings about it that spring — but by July had concluded he would focus his attention on running for governor of N.Y. in 2003 to gain the executive experience needed to be President.

JFK was my favorite president, a real leader, unfortunately he was murdered, and his brother too. With so many Bush who have governed, seeing another Kennedy would be great.
