On February 16th, 2018 bill number SB-1424 was introduced to California Legislative by democratic Senator (Dr.) Richard Pan. SB-1424 was reviewed by its committee and amended March 22, 2018 and is currently waiting for it’s hearing date which is set for May 8th, 2018.
You may be asking yourself, “Why is TBL writing an article about a senate bill when this is not normal for them?” We felt the need to bring this bill to your attention because it will directly affect freedom of speech. The bill reads:
” Existing law prohibits a person, among others, from making or disseminating in any advertising device, or in any manner or means whatever, including over the Internet, any statement concerning real or personal property or services that is untrue or misleading, as specified.
This bill would require any person who operates a social media, as defined, Internet Web site with a physical presence in California to develop a strategic plan to verify news stories shared on its Web site. The bill would require the plan to include, among other things, a plan to mitigate the spread of false information through news stories, the utilization of fact-checkers to verify news stories, providing outreach to social media users, and placing a warning on a news story containing false information.”
The bill goes on to state:
"SECTION 1.
Title 14.5 (commencing with Section 3085) is added to Part 4 of Division 3 of the Civil Code, to read:
TITLE 14.5. False Information Strategic Plans
3085.
(a) Any person who operates a social media Internet Web site with physical presence in California shall develop a strategic plan to verify news stories shared on its Internet Web site.
(b) The strategic plan shall include, but is not limited to, all of the following:
(1) A plan to mitigate the spread of false information through news stories.
(2) The utilization of fact-checkers to verify news stories.
(3) Providing outreach to social media users regarding news stories containing false information.
(4) Placing a warning on a news story containing false information.
(c) As used in this section, “social media” means an electronic service or account, or electronic content, including, but not limited to, videos, still photographs, blogs, video blogs, podcasts, instant and text messages, email, online services or accounts, or Internet Web site profiles or locations."
Basically, what this means is that before you are able to post ANYTHING, a Facebook post, a Twitter message, or write in your blog, YOUR words will first go to someone to read, they then will have to verify this information before it can actually be posted for the rest of the world to see. This bill in our opinion is very vague and leaves more questions than answers. There is no information on who said “Fact-Checkers” would be… Would it be a 3rd party and if so, would the Government pay for this? What checks and balances would be in place to make sure that this “fact-checking” mission was not bias or corrupt? (We know we made a “funny”, this IS the Government after all)? What penalties would be applied and How would the warning system work? These questions arise as well as many more... We can only assume that this information has probably left you with questions as well.
To be fair this would create jobs… People will have to be hired by whoever will be responsible for doing the fact-checking. Creating jobs is a great thing, as we all know that good paying, quality jobs are very hard to find, but at what cost? Most people write to express yourself or to give information. What happens if you have an opinion that differs from the majority of society? You could get in trouble. “How so?” one may ask. Let us give you a scenario to consider. Let’s say California was trying to pass a bill where it's citizens could only purchase gasoline on Mondays. John Doe does not like this idea, he likes to get gas on Fridays. He is outraged that the Government is doing this and like most people he wants to express his outrage to someone, so he goes on a public internet site to find like minded individuals who can understand his point of view. Let's say he goes to Facebook and writes a beautiful post that explains in detail why he feels this way and what is wrong with the bill. Up until this point do you see anything wrong with what is taking place? No. He is stating his opinion, but this goes to a fact-checker, they see that what he is saying is not considered to be FACT by their definition, they label this a false news and BAM… He gets a “warning” for spreading false news followed by a ‘penalty” which could literally mean that he has to pay a fine or worse, he goes to jail. Now do you see the problem?
An interesting side note. Facebook uses a company called International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN), an organization run by the Poynter Institute. IFCN received $1.3 million from George Soros’s Open Society Foundation.
Just so we make our point clear. Yes this is just for California, but as we know it has to start in just one place before it spreads. Once one… just ONE Governmental entity passes something like this, it will not be long before every person in America is silenced. Then the MSM can say and do whatever they want. Use any narrative and the spin will end up being the only thing that people know. Good bye truth. It does not stop there. Think back to 9/11. Before 9/11 we did not have Homeland Security, but we, the citizens allowed for Homeland Security to happen and look at where that has gotten us! This is just one more item, in a long list of items, that the Government has taken from us…
What are your thoughts? Do you feel that this is something that should be implemented or do you maybe feel that this is just another right that is going to be taken from us? If you are outside the United States, does your country have anything like this in place? What is censorship like in your country? We really would like to hear from you about your thoughts, comments and/or concerns about this below. As always, we thank you for taking your time to read our article. The death of free speech started after WW2 when it became a crime in Germany to present facts about the h0l0c@u$t. Since then, restrictions have been increased gradually using the boiling frog method. What we experiencing now is only a noticeable increase of restrictions. It always comes under the veil of "protecting" a minority or society. But we are too distracted by so many other issues like wars, economy and political divisions that our power to do anything about it is scattered all over the place. And most people are already so indoctrinated that they welcome the "protection". The noose is tightening.

Grim but true. I wonder how far could it be traced back to? A dystopian psuedo-utopia tweaked to be just right for the everyday blind individual? A prison cell that includes whirlpool, 8K HD, and all the trimmings if you will.

IMHO free speech never really existed. It was only tolerated as long as it had no major impact on society.
If an unwanted speaker got too much attention, he was always eliminated.
Because of the free flow of information today information needs to be censored more obviously because it could possibly challenge the official narrative and question the government on a larger scale.
I think what is going on now is that they establish the legal framework to filter information to be able to control unwanted information once we are all connected to the grid with implants and download the hive mind. The research for this is advanced. The patents for this are present, so is the hardware. What's missing is the infrastructure, like 5G. And this will come soon.

I used to go to youtube after a shooting or some big terrorist attack and search "XYZ School Shooting Hoax" just to see what the thoughts on the event was.
YouTube doesn't alow you to do that anymore. You can't find those videos.
It's sad that is happening to us in this world. Or maybe there is definitly a truth that "they" do not want to get out.

We understand and know exactly where you are coming from with YouTube. YouTube was were we first really noticing censorship. The Truther community seemed to get hit very hard when Google's "New Youtube Algorithm" came into play. With this latest round of demonitization attacks or all out- "bannings", channels that did not receive any kind of warning(s) (no strikes against the channel) were shut down over night. No notice nor explanation. It is sad...very sad that we live in a time that you cannot tell the truth about events that happened because it does not fit the narrative that is being given/forced (They truly are the thought -police). Personally (not speaking for my partner on this) I believe that there is something that they do not want us to find... This IMO is just the start. If a person really looks at the way everything has played out...there is more to come and unfortunately it is not good.

Yeah I feel there is a lot of "Damage Control" going on recently. There's a lot of harsh criticism towards the truth movement. On jimmy Kimmel, he has talking about how absurd these crazy conspiracy theorists sound. On the news it's all over spreading how ridiculous these "truthers" are.
So if I came along and said, "I seen a video saying this was possibly a hoax...."
Someone would say, "oh you're one of those crazies I heard about on Jimmy Kimmel"
The truth movement is getting huge. People are starting to wakeup and the staged events are getting even more ridiculous. They have to do something, even if that means to censor as much of the internet as possible.

You bring up a really good point. I also go back to Facebook on this. For years truthers tried to tell people what Facebook was doing but most would not belive until the MSM started reporting on it. After MSM reported on it, if truthers said anything about it people would still say "Oh, those crazy conspiracy theories". It use to baffle me. Another thing I noticed is that people seem to forget events fast. The reason I think this is because it appeared to me that the masses forgot about Facebooks privacy issues from before allowing MSM to do a "new" story, just add a little more context to it. Do you get the feeling that no matter what a truther uncovers, it was always be pushed aside until MSM says something about it?

Yeah I get you.
The MSM comes out with “breaking news” puts a slight twist on it.
Everyone loses their mind.
But you can show them you’ve been saying this since day one, but it means nothing.
Close minds. Unfortunately there’s nothing we can do with them....

Exactly. There are a lot of people that are truly programmed it does not matter what you tell or show them, the programming will not allow them to accept it. Then there are some people that refuse to believe... even if when something has happened and they seen that there is more than meets the eye. They cannot accept what is going on so lie to themselves that this is not real. The people that are "too" programmed it is heartbreaking that they cannot see the truth, but the people that choose not to believe for whatever their reason maybe, they frustrate me. It like the old saying... "You can lead the horse to water, but you cannot make them drink". I can only speak for myself, but I cannot un-see the truth. There are times that I have truly wanted to un-see or forget something, but I could not... Have you been through this?

I actually made a comment the other day on someone’s post, they were talking about sandy hook conspiracy theorists harassing family victims calling them actors.
By the way the person wrote the article, he’s way too programmed.
I called him on his shit but he never replied.
I was saying something similar.
I said there are the types of people.
1- this person who won’t look into any of it and won’t find out why you might be saying such absurdities.
2- this person goes in thinking he can refute whatever hogwash you bring up but quickly realized he can’t. But still will make up bullshit that only makes sense to him.
3- this person takes on the challenge. Comes in with an open mind, looks to see how far the rabbit hole goes. This person will never be the same....
Most people who try to call us crazy, have never looked into these things as much as us.
They think we are only talking about things from 1 event.
But when it’s all events, sandy hook, Brussels, Boston bombing, Las Vegas shooting and so on....
When you see all the holes in not just one, but all of them. That’s what really makes you see

Right! You can tell if someone has went drown that rabbit hole, because they are never the same. That is where the "rose colored" glasses come off. If you look at just one event your only get a bread crumb worth of the picture, when you start putting them together is when you get the full slice... We understand completely. What was your changing point? Mine was when my partner was researching Mandela Effect (he was a truther years before I was) and showed me a clip of Wizard of Oz. Up to that point, I listened when he would tell me his findings, never did I think he was crazy I just would not allow my mind to wrap fully around what he was telling me... then I seen the scarecrow had a gun. That two second clip brought the walls down and I jumped head first into the rabbit hole.

Free speech? Who in their right mind believes there is such an animal? The all elusive Them has rigged society and the laws to were there is no such thing. What the constitution? Its not worth the paper its printed on. You have to make up your own mind on just how much you are willing to let the Them control you.

I think they found a use for the paper friend.. Unfortunately this is the world that we live in and drip by drip the free people's rights and get this.. "privileges" (who ever taught grown people who take care of themselves to call something they pay for a privilege in the first place!??) are being slowly taken away and "The straw that broke the camel's back" is that most of them embrace it.

Thank you. We hope that this will bring this new bill to everyone's attention. It just takes one small place pass a bill like SB-1424 then the rest of the US will follow, then other countries could follow. Every human has a right to speak and no Government should be able to take that away.
