IS DEMOCRACY THE ROAD TO DICTATORSHIP?

If the founders of our Republic hated democracy, and established a Constitutional Republic, how is it, that the Democratic Party can openly promote democracy, which, by definition, is an act of insurrection, rebellion and treason against the Republic, and not face charges for these crimes?
