Wearing a contact lenses has never been more accessible than is today.
For example there are many web sites that offer you to choose online which contacts you prefer and all that for much cheaper price than in some optician shops.
But is that the best choice you can make?
To start wearing contact lenses I would definitely recommend for you to see the eye care professional because of all the information about the things you have to know and be aware of if you are beginning to wear contacts.
The things are not that easy. Each eye is different therefore each eye has it's radius, diameter and eccentricity.
So simple as that, you cannot choose and wear any lens you want even if it's just for cosmetic reasons and the lens has no dioptry (plano).
The eye care professional is in charge to take those measurements and order the perfect lens that fit your eyes.
The eye opening (opening between upper and lower lid) also depend of what lens should you choose.
For example for smaller, less opened eyes professional recommend RGP (Rigid Gas Permeable) lenses and for bigger, more opened eyes more likely will recommend soft lenses that has bigger diameter.
It is important that the lens fit correctly so it doesn't stick or falling from the eye.
The material from which the lens is made is also important because of the amount of oxygen that is transmitted in the eye.
Contact lenses also differ from the number of day duration, therefore there are one-day lenses, two week, one month, three month, one year duration lenses.
For the end I would like for you to pay attention on how extremely important is to be aware when it's about your eyes.
Many dangers can occur if you do not handle the contacts properly.
When I say dangers I mean: inflammation, bacterias, and many more.
Did you know that in water lives a very dangerous bacteria called Acanthamoeba, and why am I asking you that?
When present in the eye, Acanthamoeba can cause keratitis, which can lead to corneal ulcers or even blindness. This is very important fact because it's the condition that occurs most often among contact lens wearers who do not properly disinfect their lenses.
