Creating Content from a Place of Inspiration, Not Desperation

Hi Friends!

Today I am talking about the difference in energy between creating from a place of inspiration and excitement, instead of desperation to earn.

I have a lot of people ask me, “Why don’t you go full-time on content creation?” My answer is always inspiration vs. desperation. Let me explain…

This platform is so volatile that I don’t really want to count on it to pay my bills. Helllooo stress! My goal isn’t to stay working this corporate gig forever either though. I’m on a path of working towards financial independence – which means I’ll have X amount of years’ worth of expenses saved up for making the jump. That way, if the price of Steem plummets, or suddenly my supporters disappear… then I’m not freaking out.

I just know that the moment I really needed my post to do well to pay for groceries and rent… that would change the dynamic of my content. I would find it harder to stay inspired and create content that I’m excited about and proud to present. I LOVE making content… I really have so much fun everyday making these videos and I hope you guys can feel that energy through the screen! I want to protect that energy and make sure I’m always channeling my best creative mojo into my content.

I have mad respect for those who have jumped in full-time… but this is just where I’m personally at. Watch the video if you want to hear more of my thoughts!

What do you think?

I’d love to hear your thoughts on the matter! Do you ever find yourself creating from a place of desperation to earn? Does that seem to light a fire for you to make better content – or does it impact your creativity in a negative way?

I love you guys and I am always so grateful for those who choose to share their thoughts and opinions in the comments! Making content is fun, but getting into good discussions in the comments is my favorite!

XO, Lea

Aww thanks so much for listening! @pennsif is such a cool guy and it was really fun to chat with him on his show!

I'm working on a music cover right now to hopefully post tomorrow! <3

You really do stay true to this and this is one of the things that I love about you. You never take anything for granted and while some people would let a bit of successful go to their head, you are so humble and kind :) keep on keeping on @coruscate

aww thank you! That's really kind of you to say. :)

I agree with this, but it's not always an easy choice. For some, it's the choice between making content for a living or not making content at all!

Right now I run a non-profit. It's finally turning a profit, but not enough, not nearly enough to live on. But it is almost a full time job. Between that, and taking care of my 3 babies and my other child (my hubs. Hahaha jk jk) and the household stuff, I have to cut into a lot of my time with those things in order to produce quality content. If I don't make anything on it, then I just wasted either time with my kids, time for a clean house, or time working on my non profit. As it is I only sleep about 5 hours a night, and I make exercise a priority now too, so my extra time is nearly non existent.

So I do stress about my vids not making anything, especially the ones I dump a lot of effort into. I wouldn't say it effects my creativity. If I really am not inspired to talk about anything, then I don't make anything, but I usually have something on my mind worth talking about!

This is really interesting though. I can definitely see where the stress of making money can be a drag on creativity. I wish I had more time to not worry. But, I have learned how to make it work so far! My life would absolutely transform if the price of Steem goes up. So here's hoping!

Thanks for the thoughtful response @bethwheatcraft!! I think you bring up a good point that sometimes the stress can light a fire to keep moving forward. Maybe the desperation would be a positive for content and not a negative. I imagine it's probably different for each person!

What is the non-profit that you run? I'd be curious to hear more about that!!

It amazes me everything you get done in a day! Having three kids would be a full time job in and of itself - not to mention everything else you are doing and all the great content you put out here! You definitly have some of the best video content here on Steemit in my opinion. You keep it real and talk from the heart.

Anyway, thanks again for the thoughtful response! This kind of topic is something that rolls around my head all the time these days. When to quit the corporate job... etc. The ying and yang of just jumping into something i'm passionate about vs. feeling more prepared. But I digress...

If the individual places themselves into each post, it matters not what angle they utilize. But let's face it, all start-ups have stress, yes even a Steemitblog.

Great point @kyusho! There will never be an ideal world where there is no stress around trying something new. It's okay to think about how to minimize it though, in my opinion! :)

Brilliant. Agree 100%

One of the most important concepts to understand when you want to manifest a new result is that it is easiest to get where you want to go if you start from a place and I'm done follow you @coruscate because you doning always Informative post

Brilliant. Agree 100%

I think there is a way to monetize your talents for SBD or STEEM; incentives for those who actually appreciate your work and want something exclusive. don't be afraid to test the blockchain waters.
