Suggested Daily Topic

To make things more interesting I'm going add a suggested daily topic. To perk up discussion between Steemians. As always you are free to comment whatever you like to enter. You do not have to follow this suggestion.

The daily topic for today is:

Tell us about heroes who are most meritorious to your country's independence. I know alot of about the US heros who fought for America, but virtually nothing about other countries struggles for independence. Let's see if we can spread the knowledge some and acknowledge those contributions.

Thank you @dewi.ratna for the topic idea.

In case you don't know who I am here is my intro post from way back:

I must read the book first.😋

Soekarno is the hero of Indonesia's independence proclamation.

Here there is no hero, everyone is a fighter.

Your great contest needs renewal to become one of the greatest contests.

Hey @bunnypuncher,,If you still have money, give some SBD for me because I want to buy new clothes, because I do not have money to buy it ..
Thank you.

I do not know my country's independence hero unless I only know her picture in paper money.

At school I am often invited by teachers to appreciate the services of heroes and contemplate their struggle, so I never appreciate my teacher.

I live in South Africa. Nelson Mandela is the most significant person in our history. He was jailed for 27 years for his struggle against an oppressive regime that denied the majority of South Africans fundamental rights like voting. Upon his release, he was elected to be the first democratically elected president of South Africa in the first election he was allowed to vote in himself. Having gained ultimate power he exercised this power to reconcile the people of South Africa instead of seeking revenge.

I wrote a recent piece about him, as this year we will be celebrating his 100th birthday. (He passed away 5 years ago)

Check it out. It is old, so do not upvote it.

Very interesting topic.

Every country that has experienced colonies must have a hero.

Door Duistermis tox Licht, Drop Out Dark Light, that's the title of the book of the famous collection of letters Raden Ajeng Kartini. The letters written to his friends in the Netherlands then became evidence of how much the desire of a Kartini to release his people from discrimination that has been entrenched in his day.

In Indonesia, every service hero will be rewarded in the form of currency, if his struggle in expelling the invaders is very large, then the value of the currency attached his photo is on the small value of money, while the hero who small his service in fighting for independence will be rewarded so big by displaying his photo on the money of great value ... this is Indonesian friend, I do not know with in America.

When I was little I was eager to be a hero,

It's hard to say who, because very much.

I want to win in your contest

If the hero is very meritorious in fighting for independence, the successor of the nation even very meritorious in ruining the nation ..

Aceh has never been independent, many heroes have been bribed with money to return within the Indonesian state.

photos heroes are also included dong and references about hero characters Indonesia please more on perbanyak lagi..salam perdana ya ... please klo want

Tanpa semangat, secanggih apapun senjata yang kamu pergunakan tidak ada apa-apanya tapi dengan semangat yang membara sebatang bambu runcing bisa membuat kita meraih kemerdekaan.

Hopefully many lessons can we learn from their struggle

The hero who fought for his freedom of life suffered greatly, the next generation of nations who have enjoyed independence because of the struggle of their ancestors instead live happily.

I have not slept from last night

I also have a hero in my family they are my father and my mother a hero who like this true hero

Usually we will remember the hero on the day of the hero.

The name of the hero is greatly magnified in our country, if it is a hero against an enemy with an arrow or weapon, unlike our hero who uses pointed bamboo against enemies

Our hero who always remembered is CUT NYAK DIEN a woman who is very brave able to fight the Dutch colonists in the Netherlands colonize our country Indonesia

Heroes in our country Indonesia in particular, are very much, they are very brave against the Japanese army when our country colonized for 3.5 more years

The real hero for me is a mother and father who can give me more motivation in comparison with other meritorious heroes

Bung tomo the term is known dashing and brave against the NKRI rebels in our country

Once when our country was not yet independent we were colonized by japan and dutch to portuguese, when it appeared the heroes who fought them for the honor of our country, among the heroes there are women he is CUT NYAK DIEN and CUT MEUTIA

Maybe his name is not so much like another hero, but he is very meritorious to my life he is known as the "unsung hero" my mom and dad who have guided me to the right place

Simon Bolivar libero a Venezuela y otras naciones mas se le conoce como el libertador

good luck all!

Thanks for the prize @bunnypuncher.

Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela

"The great icon, South African anti-apartheid revolutionary, political leader, and philanthropist, who served as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999."

I stay in South Africa and we do call him Tata Madiba He fought with sacarsim during the anti-apartheid. He was a father to all South Africans before he died 5 December, 2013. It was a day of grief for all and beyond South Africa.

He fought with passion to free his people and never gave up. One of his quotes says:

It always seems impossible until it's done.

And he did it, got independence for South Africa in the year 1994 when the first elction happened.
He was a great man indeed.

Mandela an example as a human being

Well in the Netherlands we have a lot of heroes. In the golden century with the VOC etc. we have people like Michiel de Ruyter and Piet Heyn and Johan de Witt. But later and history made in a war everyone knows about: WWII. We have a few people worth mentioning.

Major Willem Pieter Landzaat. This was the last man standing in may 1940. He got posthumous the Willemsorde: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_Order_of_Williamps://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Militaire_Willems-Orde

Another hero from that time is probably known from the movie Soldaat van Oranje. They created this movie because of the heroic things Erik Hazelhoff Roelfzema did during WWII for the resistance.

Major aziz bhati , he died fighting for pakistan, indian army tank entered in pakistan, we have nothing to stop them then army soldiers lay down under tank with having bombs on the body , and save pakistan

I'm not going to tell you about a hero of independence, but rather about a great heroine.

MARÍA LUISA CÁCERES DÍAZ DE ARISMENDI, was born in Caracas, September 25, 1799 and died in Caracas, June 2, 1866, was one of the most important female characters in Venezuelan history and is the most important heroine of the independence of Venezuela .
On September 24, 1815, Luisa Cáceres de Arismendi, who was pregnant, is taken as a hostage to put pressure on her husband and is locked up in the house of the Amnes family, to be later transferred to a dungeon in Santa Rosa Castle in the Assumption .
On January 26, 1816, Luisa Cáceres de Arismendi gives birth, but the girl dies due to the conditions of childbirth and the dungeon in which she was. Then he is ordered to move to the fortress of Pampatar where he stays for a few days, then he is transferred to the prison of La Guaíra, and on March 22, 1816, to the Convent of the Immaculate Conception in Caracas.
Unable to return to Venezuela, Luisa Cáceres de Arismendi arrives on January 17, 1817 in Cádiz, is presented to the Captain General of Andalusia, who protests the treatment he received and gives the category of confined, assigning a pension of 10 reais in fleece daily.
Luisa refused to sign a document where she was asked to express her loyalty to the King of Spain and to deny the patriotic affiliation of her husband, to which she replied "I am unable to dishonor my husband with the signature that is requested of me. Your duty is to serve your country and set it free. Sir, I can not advise a crime on Arismendi. I am his wife and I know my duty. "
In March of 1818 the lieutenant Francisco Carabaño and the English Mr. Tottem help her to escape, and the 3 of May of 1818 arrives at the United States where it knows the family of the patriotic admiral Lino Clemente. Colonel Luis Rieux, sent by Arismendi, visits Luisa and moves her to Margarita, arriving on July 26, 1818.
On September 19, 1819, the Council of the Indies issued a resolution granting him absolute freedom and power to establish his residence wherever he wished.

I'm a bot. I detect haiku.

I'm sure you know the greatest hero of my nation venezuela. Simon Bolivar, The Liberator. In each city of Venezuela there is a square in honor of him. and it is seriously in every city there is a Bolivar Square. why ? Well, because Simon Bolivar was the one who released 7 countries: Venezuela, Panama, Colombia, Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador and Panama.

The liberator of our venezuela

Can't think of a hero of a independence fight as german.

Death is no longer a feared thing, they just can not imagine how mentally their grandchildren if life and everything that their rights are grabbed by greedy hands. The invaders utilized the abundant produce, and adopted the power of the people to build bridges and access to spices, coffee, or corn more easily collected. Thereafter, it is sold and entered for the state treasury.

Jika rasa takut dan malu dalam kebaikan tidak hilangkan maka yakinlah bawa kemajuan hanyalah angan yang tidak akan menjadi kenyataan...

Antonio Jose de Sucre

known as El Gran Mariscal de Ayacucho, was a Venezuelan politician and military leader of American independence, as well as a diplomat and statesman, president of Bolivia, Governor of Peru, General in Chief of the Army of the Gran Colombia, Commander of the Army of the Sur and Gran Mariscal de Ayacucho. He was the son of a well-off family of military tradition, his father being a colonel of the Patriot Army. He is considered one of the most complete military among the heroes of South American independence

Spark the fighting spirit in every inch of our step of independence or death!

Look at the future of the nation by looking at future generations.

If this is the case, America may be doomed.😁

Percayalah akan potensi yang kalian miliki dan tanamkanlah rasa saling peduli untuk negeri yang kita cinta...

I think this contest has become rigged against me.😁
Awesome topic by the way. I just learned a lot from the comments.

The struggle against the invaders is very difficult but the struggle against your own people is more difficult.

Ketika anda berkaca terhadap sejarah perjuangan para pahlawan maka ciptakanlah sejarah baru agar bisa di kenang oleh generasi yang akan datang sebagai cerminan keindahan

Good post idea I’m interested in reading about others.

In spite of Simon Bolivar is one the most famous in my country, I don't consider him a hero. Just someone who played the right role in the right moment

A hero fighting for Poland's independence.

Józef Klemens Piłsudski (5.12. 1867-12.4.1935)

On 20 February 1919, the title of the Head of State granted him the Seym of the Republic of Poland, in March 1920 he was appointed the Marshall of Poland and played a significant role during the Polish-Bolshevik war (1920). After the reign of Prime Minister Wincenty Witos, he formally withdrew from political life and settled in Sulejówek near Warsaw, developing lively journalistic and writing activities. In May 1926 he carried out a military coup, practically until his death he held authoritarian power; in 1930 he dissolved the Sejm, against opposition MPs using repression. He died on April 12, 1935 in Warsaw after a long-term illness; he was buried in Wawel, his heart buried in the grave of his mother at the cemetery in Vilnius.

Thanks to Piłsudski, despite the indescribable difficulties that piled up before this young state, Poland not only resurrected, but made a huge leap forward in all areas, its achievements are not good, and the role that played in the struggle for independent Poland was enormous.

Interesting, thank you! I like how it was polish, I don’t usually see much about Poland.

We have in Egypt a hero of a special kind who is fighting with his efforts and his love for his country in raising the name of Egypt high among the countries and has already succeeded in this and became the whole world love him and know him in the name of the Egyptian pharaoh he loves us Mohammed Salah football player son of Egypt

Incredible that you have named this great player.
I admire him a lot. My son always talks about him.
A hug from Venezuela

Hi contestants, good luck

This the greatest hero of my country "Simón Bolívar" was the liberator of Venezuela and of Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia. He was a great thinker, statesman, military and marked the history of Americais:

Australia did not fight for independence. Interestingly as I think about it, it's not like the US where certain people of the past are constantly taught to children and remembered. It's more low key than that. Less about "heroes" so to speak.

Ezequiel Zamora was a Venezuelan politician and military man, one of the main protagonists of the Federal War who defeated the conservative army in the battle of Santa Inés.

José Félix Ribas, this was a hero who fought for the independence of Venezuela standing out in the battle of victory together young university students defeating José Tomás Rodríguez Boves, I also fight in other battles, the saddest thing about this hero was how he died because They decapitated and their head was fried and exposed in an iron cage, in the place known as the Puerta de Caracas.

In my country, freedom is associated to one song, so I guess the hero is the singer, "Zeca Afonso".

I don´t know if we have a fiction hero, but I don´t think so...
Here is the song, in case you want to hear it. (very emotional, especially for portuguese people)

If we have to talk about my country's hero then I suppose it should be Nelson Mandela , and his fight against the apartheid regime, and his ability to avoid civil wars.

First African president of South Africa.

Marcos Pérez Jiménez, for many a dictator, for others a bad president but the truth is that Venezuela lived its best time with the commander, when he made the bolivar, the local currency, worth more than the dollar.

In this case I will not talk about my current country, but of a country that was part of it, the Great Colombia. Why? Because in those years there was a man who fought against centralism and, if he were triumphant, Spanish American history would was very different. It's about Francisco de Paula Santander.

Our eternal revolutionary commander Hugo Chavez

José Antonio Páez. Junto con su ejercito, y la causa republicana, fue el principal culpable de la independencia de Venezuela.-

I'm from Venezuela and of course for many people Simon Bolivar is the most important hero in Latin America, and it's true, but now I want to talk about Simón Rodriguez, his teacher, yes, sounds weird but Simón Bolivar becomes in a man with amazing ideas of freedom because of his teacher, he had those though really big and he gave everything to guide one of the most important man in world. For that reason Simon Rodriguez is a hero to my country.

My first President, Soekarno. He led the revolution for independence against the dutch.

Simón Rodríguez

Simón Rodríguez was born in Caracas on October 28, 1769Pedagogue and Venezuelan writer, born in Caracas in 1771 and died in Amotape, Peru, in 1854. Master of Simón Bolívar, his concerns and reforming ideas had a powerful influence on the formation of El Libertador, according to he recognized himself.

Simón Rodríguez was really called Simón Carreño Rodríguez, but he dispensed with the first surname as a result of a disagreement with his brother Cayetano, a musician by profession. For his conspiratorial activities, he had to emigrate in 1794 and changed his name (Samuel Róbinson). The theatricality of his existence contrasts with his strict sense of honesty and the renewing transcendence of his pedagogical and social ideas.

He had the education of Simon Bolivar to his care until he was fourteen, and in 1804, when the teacher was in Vienna, he was introduced to the disciple, who accompanied him to Europe. It is said that from the Monte Sacro, in Rome, Simon Rodriguez made his disciple swear that he would dedicate his life to fight for the independence of his homeland. Be it true or not, it is part of the ritual theatricality that so influenced the soul of Bolívar.

The great Simón Rodriguez. The best teacher

Manuel Piar
Birth April 28, 1774 in (Willemstad, Curacao; Dies in Angostura del Orinoco, October 16, 1817)
He was a Venezuelan military man of curazole origin, a hero of the Independence of Venezuela. And also within the channels of the Venezuelan Republican history is recognized as the Liberator of Guayana and Generalísimo Unbeaten, for having fought 24 battles and never having been defeated

As we celebrate the 120th day of Philippine Independence day, a Filipino like me will never forget the remarkable deeds of our National Hero Dr. Jose Rizal. Jose Protasio Rizal Mercado Y Alonzo Realonda is his full name. He leads the Filipinos to start the rebolutions against the Spanish Government. He is well known for beaing a propagandist and through his writings Noli Me tangere and El Filibusteriamo he revealed the inhumane manipulations of the spanish government to the Philippines. He is a hero who is not afraid to die and give his life for the country.

But fate said another, on February 11, 1899 Teuku Umar was found dead in the war and made the troops Cut Nyak Dhien increasingly weakened by getting continuous pressure from the Netherlands. Plus the physical and health conditions of Cut Nyak Dhien continued to decline until finally the Dutch managed to catch him in Beutong Le Sageu. To avoid the influence of Cut Nyak Dhien on Aceh, the Dutch exiled him to Sumedang.

MKO Abiola fought for a democratic government in Nigeria. Abiola ran for the presidency in 1993, for which the election results were annulled by the preceding military president Ibrahim Babangida because of allegations that they were corrupt and unfair. He was then assassinated. He was awarded the GCFR posthumously on 6th June, 2018 by President Muhammadu Buhari and Nigeria's democracy day was changed to June 12(the date on which he presumably won).
