Tell A Story To Me,

And Maybe Win Some SBD!

Welcome to Tell Me A Story, this is the first contest I have attempted to hold, and hopefully it will not be the last, so please upvote and resteem to get the word out there!

1. One Entry Per Person
2. Prose, poetry, any form of fiction is accepted, as long as you tell me a story
3. Your opening line or title must incorporate the prompt
4. Entries must be submitted by the time this post pays out (7 days from now - the winner will be announced a few days later)
5. Work must be your own
6. One picture only please
7. First Place wins 5SBD (if we get a lot of entries, we will also be offering a second and third place of 3SBD and 2SBD)
8. Upvote this post, and resteem (not resteeming won't get your entry disqualified, but resteeming is very much appreciated to help get the word out there)
9. I don’t really want to specify a length, but don’t go crazy please
10. Post a link to your tale in the description

The Prompt

You must incorporate the prompt in either your opening line, or title. It must be featured word for word, although you can make this part of a longer sentence.

“Have you ever been to the planet they call Utopia…”

Utopia is a very subjective place, and Utopia for one man, could be dystopia for another. I am looking to hear the tale of someone who has visited a planet widely referred to as ‘A Utopia’. You can tell me this tale in any way you want.

If you are looking for more ideas, some of the questions I have pondered on, that you may want to answer include:
- Why visit? Is anyone allowed to just visit?
- Why is it known as utopia? Does everyone agree that it is?
- Did your character agree it was a utopia? Why/why not?
- Why did your character leave? Or did they stay?
- Why is your character telling the story?

I am really looking forward to reading your entries.Good luck, and don't forget to include a link in the comments!

Thanks!

Hi. Here is my submission. Thanks
"It didn’t matter how, so long as he was dead."

This is a lovely poem but did you mean to enter it in killer poetry? :)

no, just using extra tags for more visibility of my post. i got another entry for the killer poetry. this post isn't qualified tho, coz killerpoetry is not the first tag. XD

My first ever attempt at telling a story. It is short as I expect you to get allot of entries.

Thanks for the competition !

My Entry

@moneyinfant has added your contest to the list Steemit Writing Contests: Issue #63. The list is updated on a daily basis and your contest will remain on the list until its expiration - there's nothing you need to do.

The list was created to save writers the excessive amount of time spent searching through the #contest tag for writing contests. Now they can just come to the list each day, see new contests and use their time doing what they love - writing.

If you'd like to help spread the word about the Steemit Writing Contest List I'd really appreciate a resteem, but it certainly isn't necessary. The project is simply meant to help writers save time and contest creators attract more contestants.

P.S. If you know of any contests I've missed I'd love to hear about them. Thanks!

Thank you very much - greatly appreciated :)

My pleasure! Hope the contest turns out as a huge success.

Hi. Good contest. I would like to know if I can extend my story to 1000 words?

Absolutely! I was thinking of putting 3000 as the limit but I didn't want to put people off too much, so don't worry about if it goes over 1000 :)

hi, how are the posts going to be submitted ? that's the part i don't get. i have my post ready for submission.

You can post it on your own blog as a normal post, and then please put a link to that post here in the comments so I don't miss it! Ooo I am really excited to see your entry! Good Luck!

ok.

Might I recommend you relax the rule concerning the number of pictures on the entry posts.

Some writers have developed a style of creatively applying pictures that move the story forward.

Take a look at these two stories of mine to get an idea of what I mean.

Moonlight : A Tale Of Mystery And Wonder

The Incident At 234 Wayne Street

I can appreciate that, and do enjoy stories with more pictures. I can see it does work well with yours, but for this round, I was looking to encourage more descriptive writing. That said, I may change it up in future, although it is always fun to try writing something a bit different if you do fancy giving it a go anyway :)

Thanks for your consideration.
I have the first draft of Utopia penned down, I'll have to edit it according to the contest guidelines.

Next time I will definitely say images of text don't count if that helps :)

That definitely helps.
Utopia is currently being typed, I'll have it ready in a few days(or less).

I am looking forward to it!

Hello everyone, this is my entry to the contest.

This is a really interesting post of yours, often it is glossed over that women also abuse men, an a general attitude of 'lucky' - at least in some cultures - must make it hard to report it and have it taken seriously. It is such an awful thing to do to someone, regardless of genders.

I am not going to count this as your entry as if you do want to join in with this contest :)

So can i re apply or i have to wait for another contest of yours

Yes, if you want to reapply, you would be very welcome. This one didn't fit the rules so it didn't count :)
