The Producers?

Welcome to the Leaderboard!

The producers wanted the worst director and actors, because they wanted a flop that would close right after opening night.
Half way through opening night, the audience was so disgusted that the producers left the theatre thinking that the they had succeeded.
The show became a hit but they were still desperate for it to close.

Yes! I owe this one to Larry David. Only recently watched The Producers because of Curb your enthusiasm.
