Make sure you fix it before the start of the first match or before the maximum of 35 contestants is reached (18 are in now)
It's been tricky to find a solid rule for this since entering very late can give some advantage, having a risk the contest is full by than should counter this and also keep the value for each contestant high enough. Every extra entry reduces the roi. I'm thinking of maybe making this contest exlusive to SBD members next season if we grow enough)
