Gaming contest! Tell me about a game that you like to play and win SBD! (3 SBD prize pool)

in contest •  7 years ago  (edited)

Dear Steemians,

As i have reached 100+ followers a few days ago, i have decided to do a contest which will help me to get an idea of which games to stream in the future. On top of that, i will be able to give something back to the community which is something that makes me feel good.

My followers already know that i am into gaming. I have been playing games almost every day since i was 3 years old. That's around 24 years now, which might be something to think about. To be honest, gaming makes me feel good and happy. I'm sure it does the same for alot of other people.

Lets get to the point. I am doing this contest to gain more followers which are interested in gaming. I could have done any other type of contest but i chose gaming as the main focus of the contest to gain followers which will actually like my content.

  2. Follow me @ferow
  3. Tell me which game is the best game that you have played and why. Use the comment section below to submit your answer.
  4. The games can be for all platforms (PC/PS4/XBOX/Older consoles).
  5. You can post your entry until next Tuesday (13-3-2018). The winners will be rewarded shortly after this post has reached the 7 days mark.

Prize pool

Total prize pool will be 3SBD. I will reward 3 winners with 1 SBD each.

Tips

Try and focus on the fact that i am looking for new games to stream on DLive.
If someone else already made a comment about the game you had in mind, don't make that stop you from commenting about the same game anyway. You might have a better way of telling us about the game.
Most important one: Try and make me BUY the game!

Reesteming this post could help me gain more followers who are interested in gaming, it's not a rule but it would be greatly appreciated!

If you are a console gamer and would like to stream on DLive without using remote control applications or expensive capture cards, make sure to check my post about how to get a good stream live for free:

Well my favorite game...

What would be my favorite game? What could it be?

It's not Overwatch though it's fun. I have plenty of games I've truly enjoyed. Heroes of Might and Magic 3. Worms World Party. Undertale. FTL. XCOM: Enemy unknown. Binding of Isaac: Rebirth.

The one which is my favorite is constantly changing.

Now I feel like FTL is one of my favorite games. It's not a perfect game, as it is sometimes too depending on luck.. BUT it is still a game defined by skill.

And it is something really special. It is fun, it's replayable, the music is great. You care for your crew, you fight to live and you fight to win.

The game is full of small and great stories. Great achievements and excitement.

It's a game for us who care about gaming.

Hi apsu,

So good to see you here buddy, thanks for posting an entry.

I'm kinda dissapointed that you didn't go with Overwatch, i thought we had that connection going on... j/k :P

You have mentioned some very nice games, i didn't know about FTL so i went and watched some gameplay on YT. The person playing it was enjoying it and i think everyone who appreciates gaming would enjoy it. It does look like a very old game, but that does not mean it's bad. As you might agree, most old games are still better than most new games.

Thanks again for replying buddy, keep up the good work!

Well the FTL is in minimalistic graphics, but it's not an that old game. FTL was originally released in 2012 so it's already 6 years ago, a major update called FTL: Advanced Edition was released 2014 so this is still in the era of modern computer games.

If you ever find FTL on a good discount, I recommend you to grab it and test it out :)

I will see if i can find it for cheap, i will go for the Advanced Edition if i do tho :P

It seems a little short sighted to restrict the entries to PS4 and PC, because you forget about some of the classics. Like my entry: Legend of Mana (PS1)

Legend of Mana holds a very special place in my heart. It's a beautiful 2D action RPG, and the sequel to Secret of Evermore on the SNES. I love the hand drawn sprites, and the soundtrack, oh god, the soundtrack! Yoko Shimomura composed the score for this game. You might know of her work. She composed the soundtrack for Kingdom Hearts, Guile's Theme from Street Fighter II, and Super Mario RPG.

The game features small quests that can tie into larger quests. One of my favorite story arcs culminates in a showdown with a half demon on the head of a giant zombie serpent. Said demon is resurrecting the serpent to destroy the world.

But what really makes the game special is that a second player can join you, and take over the NPC role. My brother and I...we never really got along. Sibling rivalry was a very real and prevalent part of our upbringing. But Legend of Mana was one of the things that we could come together over. We teamed up against Irwin, slayed dragons, and met the six Wisdoms. It's one of the few happy memories I have with my brother. This is made even more apparent since his Traumatic Brain Injury in 2008. Where it was mere sibling rivalry before, it's now to the point where we really can't spend much time together.

So mine is a little personal, but it's still an amazing game. If you have a PS3, you can buy the game online for $7. It is worth every penny of that.

What an amazing entry this is. I notice it's very personal but that does not make me blind to the fact that you really enjoyed this game. Your entry is valid even though i might not have the correct console to stream this game.

I have a little brother myself which i used to play games with, so i can relate to the relation factor in your story. It's one of the few things me and my brother shared in our youth. We used to play alot of Smash Brothers back then on the nintendo.

While writing this i realize that i might be able to find this game on the PS4. They launched a new project where we can find older games for free as long as we pay the monthly subscription. I will see if your game is in their list and i will actually give it a go if you become one of the winners.

Thank you for participating, great entry!

There's always emulators...

I know there are, i haven't used any for years now but i'm sure i'll be able to find them. I used them a couple of years ago to play gameboy games on.

When in doubt, TheISOZone can help you out. They've got a good community over there.

Hello @ferow, congratulations on your first milestone! 100 followers! this is the hardest one in my opinion. From now on you'll gain more loyal followers, i wish you all the luck in the world.

As for the game suggestion;

I would like to see you streaming Knight online. This is the game that i spend most of my childhood. I met new friends, have wonderful experiences along the way, and enjoy playing. I have been working with several game servers as a graphic designers and this job brings back so much memories from the past.

I love the contest idea for 100 follower. I might do similar thing for myself! Upvoted and Resteemed!

Knight online is a game which i spent alot of time on. In my opinion it's still one of the best PVP games. The sad thing is that it's a rather old game, but the concept of it is amazing. The teamwork that is required to succeed in PVP and the items which groups can farm is amazing. My friends are busy with building a private server for this game right now, i'll be streaming that once it's all live.

Furthermore, you definately should celebrate the 100 followers mark, i think it's special and hard to reach indeed.

Hey @ferow I was alerted to your post by @luanne and she told me that you are doing games! That is fantastic and I'm sure you know how this helps to make life fun! You can tag any of your games with #newbiegames and feel free to also drop your links with a short description in our posts too! We are inclusive and want as many as people as possible to learn about games and how they strengthen the community!

She also mentioned that you are trying to avoid the whale wars, so I will be happy to give you tips on that too!

Hi Dave,

It's always awesome to see support coming from fellow gaming enthiousiasts. I will check out the newbiegames tag and see if it's something for me. Thank you for helping the gaming community the grow, people like you are the real MVP's ;)

Thanks for the compliment @ferow! :) ... And of course I want to help the gaming community, to me that is the type of thing that people will want to come here for. Most people aren't "gifted" with some extraordinary talent, so being able too earn something while they have fun is important to making the platform more relevant!

Its nice to connect to you and I look forward to seeing more of you :)

Wow some really great game mentioned. Haven't played Legend of Mana in a while. I had heard they were going to give it a facelift and re release it, not sure if that's happened yet.

I've mostly been PC games since my son moved out and took the PS4 with him. On the PS4 the only game I really played was Kingdoms of Amalur. I enjoyed it and the story line. I didn't get to play as much as I wanted because the kiddo had his games he played.

Lately my top games are actually throwbacks LOL. The Fallout Series. I finished FO4 with 2 different endings will be going back to get the other to alt endings. In the middle of New Vegas (hit a bug that I can't seem to find a fix for) then got Skyrim (the Elder Scroll v. Skyrim edition) I seem to spend every moment I can play on that. I love how involved the worlds are. Bethesda and Obsidian do make some great game. I just recently got Pillars of Eternity. I like it, it plays like Diablo with the whole click to move thing. Great storyline though. Thought I would start with that. Um....Ark Survival on a semi-private server. D3, Banished and a few others. I like a variety so it depends on my mood. But as I said Skyrim is the main game I'm playing right now.

Haha wow, you mentioned so many good games yourself. I've always wanted to play Skyrim but i was just too afraid i would get too addicted on it and i wouldn't have any time left for something else. It's just such a big game... To be honest every game you called out is a good game. You should stay away from games like ARK tho, i've seen it happen many times that someone would be building for 3 weeks and then the admins would just either wipe them or shut down the server. As you say, to play that you need to be on officials or semi private servers.

Thanks for replying.

I admit it the first couple of weeks on Skyrim I couldn't stay off of it. ARK for me has been they have been adding new expansions and just as I get leveled up enough to start doing something then a new world comes in. I really like Aberration, I had to turn the shaking of since it was driving me nuts. It's beautifully done. And yeah if you're on the main servers it's too frustrating. Our server isn't too bad we only have 3 mods running so not much lag 2x xp, 5x gather and taming is upped a little too. Enough to progress pretty quickly but not too quickly. I've been to wrapped up in Skyrim lately. It's much more laid back and ALOT less farming LOL.

You should share with @newbiegames and @davemccoy

Hello @ferow, Great contest idea. I love gaming, though I play every kind of game out there (video, board, card, roleplaying, etc.). My favorite video game is the Kingdom Heart Series (I say series because they keep packaging these games). The story and art are great. There is also enough to do that it takes time to get through the whole game. Gameplay is also my favorite in that it is in real time (not a huge fan of turn base). I am looking forward to when they finally release Kingdom Hearts III.

I'm looking forward to seeing more posts from you. Good Luck.

I have heard about Kingdom hearts alot and your reply made me go check it out for the first time. I've watched a demo gameplay of kingdom hearts 3 and i've also watched some gameplay of the previous versions. Kingdomhearts 3 looks alot better than the previous ones and i love how many disney characters are in it. Looks like a fun game to play, thanks for your entry!

Congrats on 100 followers! I will say Assassins Creed Origins. I don't yet have that much to say because I'm only 10 hours into the game but...
I love that game takes place in ancient Egyptian time mixed with the modern story as well. Story this far is absolutely amazing and it's so much to do in this game. Of course, it is open world and I love open world games. I am sure that Assassins Creed don't need much of introduction to you. Graphics are also stunning and I can take full advantage of this since I own a high-end PC and can play in ultra with high FPS. I paid full price for this game and i do not regret this!

Assasins Creed series have some very good games in them. I did not like all of them and i also did not play all of them, but the ones that i did play were the good ones. The version you are talking about is the latest version which a close friend of me was addicted to for a while. I've watched him play it and like you say, it's awesome! If i would own a high-end PC however, i would go for PVP games like Overwatch. Maybe you should check that out it might be something for you, you could have a nice advantage above other people if your pc is very good.

Thank you for you entry, i might actually get my friends copy of Assasins creed and stream a couple gameplays.

well i am mainly a pc gamer but my favorite game is nhl series from EA. and 1 day spent half day arguing with support at ea why should put it back on the pc it was a world war 3 argument an conclusion EA are Assholes.

i love hockey and being able to play my favorite team is fun its great stress reliever plus it relaxes me usually running to take a poop after.

EA always have made great sport series but i've always noticed that they went for the $ instead of the community. FIFA series is a perfect example of that, best soccer game ever made but it's all about the $.

Thank you for your entry.

Of course Dying Light, Fallout 4 and Elder Scroll : Skyrim...

If I have to choose only one of them... It is exactly Dying Light.

Hello,

Please read the rules, without upvoting this post and following me i can not accept your entry.

merhaba Ferow ,
ben This War of Mine öneririm.

The game shows us the other face of the war. It shows us the story of behind the war and the poeple who try to survive behind the war. When you start to play it is impossible to give up palying again.I want to impress the scenerio of the game is stunning. The game start finding ourself with a few random people in a ruined building.Every people has an unique character : some has better running ability ,some has better aiming ability and some has better cooking ability...

The people who were doctors, advocates before the war life try to learn how to survive.
“The hell is sometimesa far as the news on a radio, and sometimes as close as a bomb explosion which breaks your sleep apart.”
It is too dangerous to go out when it is day because of the snipers and at the nights the looters are on duty.

In the game you have to loot everything as the other survival games. You can choose the people who is going to loot, who is going to wait for the house and who is going to sleep in the house. If one of people would die from the cold, starvation or shooting, the others would have psychological problems and their performances drop down. Actually it is a strategical game that you have to make logical plans to get your people alive and also get high their morales.

The best game I've played so far is Postal 2, which is a PC game from the year 2003; accompanied by its' 2015 DLC ''Paradise Lost'' (which deserves to be a standalone game on its' own).

Sure, it isn't a newer game nor does it exist for the PS4 platform, but you wanted to hear people's favorite games, so here you are...

Postal 2 is a quite fucked up game with an even more fucked up plot behind it.
Long story short, you are the Postal Dude - a badass character on its own, living in a trailer with your toxic wife who is never seen in the game (unless you play the DLC), as she is just too obese to fit through the trailer's door.

Every day throughout the week you're given a couple of errands to run - for example ''Buy a carton of milk''. Sounds pretty easy and even boring, doesn't it? Well, you're wrong. Play it and you'll know what I meant by that.

Basically, Postal 2 is a black comedy FPS where you can wield weapons starting from a basic pistol, ending with a bazooka... or a dead cow's head (what?). ''Where are the animal rights activists?'' you might ask. Well, the cow's head isn't the only thing that involves cruelty against animals. You can use cats as gun silencers. (WHO WOULD DO SUCH A THING?!)

To top things off, you're given the opportunity to insult people on the streets and even urinate. That's right... you can unzip your pants any time and piss anywhere you want!

If this isn't good enough to get you playing this game, I don't know what is!

Hahaha! After reading your entry i went to youtube ASAP and checked out some gameplay of Postal2. It's as funny as you have described it. I think if someone with a good sense of humor could stream this game it would be very funny to watch and follow. I've seen someone trying to kill some guy with bombs and scissors in the face but it didn't work. At the end he pulled out a cow's head and actually got to kill the guy with it. Seems like a cow's head is alot stronger than explosives haha!

Thank you for your entry buddy!

Man, in the DLC you can flip people off, too!
It's great to use if you come across an icon of Jesus flipping YOU off.

The favourite game i have ever played remains God Of War 3....the way the entire story began to crash on the old Gods and Kratos going crazy really got me sooo interested.. tho GOW has been a hit from the very start, but GOW III was super awesome, from graphics to sounds to fight to story to audio to simulations...damn i have played it more than four times and still playing it again on my PS console

God of War is an amazing series of games. It has alot of fans (including some friends of mine) who prefer to play these series above any other newer games. God Of War 4 has been released recently, you should get it if you don't have it yet.

Thank you for your entry.

yeah seen the trailer but am not sure am gonna like it...they changed so many things and changed the formal kratos character...but might check it out someday tho..but for now? GOW III remains at the top of my list

The game that I would like to play would be “Super Mario”. I miss playing the game since I always play Super Mario when I was a kid using family computer and gameboy.

I love playing this with the joystick controling the forward , down, jump and fire moves. My fingera coordinates with my eyes and mind doing the tactics.

I miss how I play and jump over the flag pole to reach the flag at the end of the game before I reach the castle and move to the next round and save the princess without wasting a life because you only have 3 lives to finish or go far with the game.

Fuethermore, playing this would be more fun when you play it when your friend ( 2playermode) , I always choose mario and luigi for my friend. I loved it when I discover new secrets in the game like , stars when I break the brick with my head which gave powers (you will not die for 30secs) to mario or discover new passage to secret world of coins. And it gave me so much fun firing all the enemies with my firegun. Oh i so love the game.

Super mario has been my favorite since then. It gave me excitement in every level I had while using mu brain with my own strategies to win the game. And if given A chance I would like to play this game over and over again ❤️

Thank you for your entry! Super Mario is a game which most of us gamers will already know everything about. There have been people breaking wold records on Youtube and recording the fastest times possible. People finish the entire game in 4 minutes 56 seconds while others need months to finish it. You should check out that video on YT, just type in : fastest super mario record. It's truly amazing.

I have so many loved games, but after I read @amrauthor and your reply. I think you'd be the type that would LOVE Kingdom Hearts.

The series is known as "Put Disney & Final Fantasy Characters in a typical SquareEnix action RPG game." The protagonist goal is to find his friends & Save the world in process. Disney worlds contain alternative versions of their films and each has something new to offer.

The story of the original KH characters is good and full of twists, you might get confused if you don't play the game in-order. (Some people did that and still didn't understand the story, and enjoyed the game for its Gameplay alone.) But it's rewarding when you connect the points... And it has many emotional moments, I smiled in some scenes and nearly cried in others.

The point is: The game is too awesome to play that if even if you only care about one thing of those three (Disney World, Story full of twists, Action RPG Gameplay) then the game is definitely for you!!

But wait... There's more: If you want to play Kingdom Hearts III it's better to do that after you play ALL the games before it in the series, I suggest playing the games in order they were released rather their place in timeline. The story is confusing if you didn't BUT rewarding to follow the lives of Sora and Friends.

I suggest getting the cheap PS3 KH1.5 Collection. Or the bigger PS4 KH1.5+2.5 Collection, preferably the later.

Hi @ahmadmanga,

This might be a game which i should get. I have checked it in the PS Store and the KH1.5+2.5 version is 50 euro's at the moment. It looks interesting and beautiful, people might love to see me stream this.

The Action RPG part of the game would attract me the most, i'm watching a Lets Play series of it right now as i'm typing this so i'll get back to watching that.

Thank you for mentioning me in your post, people should check your blog out! By the way, don't forget to follow me or i won't be able to accept your entry.

Thank you for mentioning me in your post, people should check your blog out! By the way, don't forget to follow me or i won't be able to accept your entry.

Thanks for the reminder, I wanted to do that but forgot.

Hi @ferow. I more of a retro gamer than a current gen gamer (even though I own all the new consoles and a bunch of games for them). My favorite games are Secret of Mana (best music in gaming) and Doom. However, those are probably already in your radar. The game I would like to submit is Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. I have been a fan of the Resident Evil series since the PS1 days, but I grew tired of the series and didn't play RE5 and RE6. Once RE7 was released it intrigued me enough to come back to the series. The perspective changed from third person to first person and it became less of an action game and more suspense and horror.

The game starts with the player in the role of Ethan whose wife which has gone missing and presumed dead, suddenly contacts him and tells him that she is being keep prisoner in the basement of an abandoned house in the middle of a forest. You run into the house and almost immediately find out that its not abandoned at all, but there is a crazy family that make you feel as if you stepped into a Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie.

The great thing about this game is the sense of immersion. If the player so chooses he/she can read newspaper/diaries, watch videotapes, and listen to audio tapes to really get into the game's world. The ambiance is thick with tension, so much so that I would jump when I heard a noise in my house, much to the amusement of my wife lol. The amount of detail in the environment is exquisite. You can get lost just appreciating the attention to detail.

Lastly, the first person view is excellently used. It makes you feel like the things that are happening are truly happening to you. You cringe when you get stabbed in the hand. The AI is excellent. In one of the fights I saw the enemy through a hole in the wall. I realized I was under powered so I through an item to get her off my trail-- it seemed to work so I shimmed through the wall but it was tight so I couldn't turn my head. When I thought I was all the way through she grabbed me from the back pulled me out and killed me. I was happily terrified. Moments like this happen all the time in this game. This would also be a great game for you to stream. I am sure that your fans would love to see you scared out of your wits. Just remember to play in the dark. This game is available on PS4, XBox One and Steam.

Hi @andykapps,

This is an amazing entry, i enjoyed every word of it.

Resident evil is a very famous game, i think most gamers have played atleast one of the versions of this game. As i read what you wrote, RE7 seems to be a very improved version of it. I'm thinking, streaming this game would mostly involve me screaming and scaring my wife and viewers, which would actually be awesome. I remember it was already frightening back in the old days, i could only imagine how scary it is in the latest version.

Thanks alot for your entry, very well done!
