Yesterday I started the 1st contest of a long series hopefully, which I named "Flash Contest! Easy SBD!" because they all end within a day or less and it's usually very easy to win one, but you might need some chance to get selected by the random picker.
All contests will be about Steem, usually in the form of a question that needs an answer as a comment.
The simple question for yesterday's contest was: What is the difference between Steem and Steemit?
Probably the most complete answer, in my opinion, was given by @obest:
Steem is a crypto currency that is built on it own blockchain network, the steem is a blockchain platform built with dApp technology for other apps to be integrated on. Its going to serve as a power host to host other applications with a technology known as Smart Media Tokens (SMT's). Much like erc20 tokens for ethereum there will be many different tokens that will be built on the steem blockchain making it very large and extremely valuable. Whereby they will use the steem blockchain technology to build their own crypto currencies to run their own unique projects as a means to rewards their users.
While Steemit is a blogging platform for contents creators and bloggers to create valuable contents in various formats like (vlogging, blogging and photography e.t.c). And these content creators will be rewarded with a unique payments model know as steem dollar (SBD) and steem power for their efforts
However it was not the answer selected by the random comment picker. I decided that I will give away the SBD earnings of the contest post (after the payout time comes) to @obest, and I'll make it a rule going forward (see below).
From contest #2, if the best answer is not the one selected by the random picker, the commenter with the best answer will receive the SBD author rewards from the contest post.
How will the best answer be determined?
Through your upvotes for it! The answer with the most number of upvotes will be considered the best. In case of a tie, the total value of upvotes count, if it's still a tie (unlikely), it will be at my choice.
This has nothing to do with the regular prize for the contest. It will still be awarded at random, if conditions are met and the answer is correct.
Back to our winner!
For the 1st "Flash Contest! Easy SBD!", our winner is.... @bethcharon:
I like Beth's answer. It was simple and to the point. One little thing I would add to it: Steemit is not necessarily for expert advice, it is very much so for regular folks posting about life, traveling, cooking, sports, games, or other stuff they like, but are no experts. As long as their posts hold some value, it's fine.
She follows me and resteemed the contest post, so everything is in order. Congratulations Beth! Here's the "proof of payment", so to speak, although everyone can see it, we are on the blockchain:
LATER UPDATE (after 7 days period, using eSteem Surfer): Unfortunately, the SBD production has been stopped and the payout for this post only includes Steem and SP. I haven't taken that into account when I promised to pay the SBD generated by this post to the author with the best answer. I'll have to figure out if I'll switch to Steem for future contests prizes, or wait so that SBD production starts again.
