Since the original idea behind these giveaways was to help redfish and minnows, and with the proliferation of autobots in the system, I believe we need a method of building REAL community. As long as I have enough Steem Power, I will be up-voting those who participate in these weekly contests so that at minimum participants will receive increased rank and a small amount of Steem. If each participant ALSO up-votes the others here, we will form a small community of little fish helping each other out! Participating here involves actually reading the post and making a reply, which is what the platform is asking us to do.

Each week's contest will require entrants to select a number between 111 and 666.

How this contest works

  • The contest is intended for lower-ranking members who could use the money (whales and dolphins are encouraged to upvote and increase the prize pool and/or comment rewards. Your support is greatly appreciated!).
  • The contest will run for 1 week and close on Jan. 3, 2018.
  • Entrants will select a number between 111 and 666 and in the replies to this post they will write, "ENTRY GUESS" followed by their chosen number. This should be the first thing they write, followed by anything they feel will add value to the post. This can be something as simple as a famous quote you copy and paste from the Internet (as long as you provide attribution), something of interest to you that you would like to share, a joke, etc.
  • The winner(s) will have guessed all 3 numbers in the correct order and if nobody guesses correctly, then at least 2 of the 3 numbers rolled by 3 6-sided dice rolls must be achieved or the prize rolls over to the following week.(NOTE that there will be no numbers 7, 8, 9 or 0). Example: Dice rolls = 456. Players guessed 152, 256, 416, 555, and 645. Guesses 256 and 416 would split the prize for each having 2 of the 3 numbers in the correct places.
  • The prize pool will consist of ALL the SBD earned by this posting PLUS 50 Pocket tokens Plus the total prize pool not won previously.
  • In order to win, you MUST have upvoted the original post and written something interesting.

Upvoting this posting will increase the prize pool, so be sure to ask your friends and followers to upvote, even if they are not entering!

I think we are already getting a sample of the things to come with Steem. I hope things stay as they are for a while because it is a great time to build SP right now. If SBD drops back to $1 and Steem is at $4, it will cost 4 SBD to buy a single Steem. At one point we could get 6 Steem for just 1 SBD. I wish I had SBD at the time!

The biggest healing is listening to our own breath. If we ever feel rushed or in doubt, the breath is always there to calm us down. I think 2018 will be a very big roller coaster emotionally, economically, politically and socially. So we will probably all be needing some calm breathing.

Hopefully it won't be as bad as the predictions forecast. I think it will be great for crypto-currencies, so anyone into them should do well.

LOL... You can thank @allstarrunner for enticing me to challenge myself into getting into a position where I could beat him. He posted that he was unbeatable, so I just HAD to beat him once. Now I'm satisfied and am able to relax. I would still like to get to level 10 before the beta testing is over and we all get our accounts reset. Definitely go for it. It feels so good to reach your goal. I think it might help to get your SPF up to 1 before making the challenge and try to challenge me when mine is low.

ENTRY GUESS 222

The first time you read about a topic, you might understand very little. The more you read about it, the clearer the big picture starts to get it. Sometimes, the big picture gets both clearer and murkier at the same time. That's the way I'm feeling about Steemit.

Every one of us here on Steemit has our own goals and causes, and we might even designate certain other Steemians as champions of a particular cause. It would seem that if people's collective efforts were all channeled in a positive way, everyone could play a part in one great thing or another on Steemit. Yet every week or two it seems that some big, new drama explodes on the scene. Somehow, most of these dramas that I read about tend to revolve around the same person (and/or group of people, and/or bots, I'm not sure how to identify them myself). Over the long run, this can't be healthy for Steemit's future.

I am reminded of a quote that goes something like this: "If you truly believe that everyone else is the problem, then the truth is that YOU ARE the problem!" In this case, I think the quote applies rather well to the Steemit drama queen(s) that I'm referring to.

Then again, I'm also planning to hang around for the long-term, so hopefully all the drama will boil over, come to pass, and go away. I just don't know if I'm too concerned or not concerned enough with what's gone down as of late.

I think you and I are feeling similarly about Steem. I think an appropriate way to deal with this sort of situation is to follow the idea that you find the wisdom to recognize what you can and cannot change. Do that which you are capable of and forget about that over which you have no control. Although I find it interesting to read about what is going on, my focus is on doing what I can to build my own little sub-communities and add my little bit to the whole. Whatever comes of it is not in my hands, so I'll enjoy the ride and see where it ends when the time comes.

I really like your quote. It is so very true and I see it in real life quite often.

So far, the big guys have not noticed this contest yet, but I suspect once it gets more participants on a regular basis, they will begin to notice. I have no intentions to stop running these contests and enjoy giving at least a few cents to all participants. Recently my SP has grown quite quickly and I'm now able to give more than 3 or 4 cents per vote. I'm looking forward to the day I can give every participant at least a 10 cent vote. I suppose it all depends on how fast my SP grows relative to the number of participants. The faster I grow, the more I can share. It really would be great if a few of the big guys would help sweeten the prize pool. I do get a few larger votes once in a while and that really helps a lot. With SBD worth so much currently, the prize pool is worth over $10 USD already, but who knows what it will be when someone wins?

I agree with you up to an extend. What do you do if you interact with another person and they waste your precious time and cause you to have to make great efforts to rewrite your plans in life? That can cause some degree of misery . You have to realize that your happiness is precious but people can dampen it if you do not have a more sturdy plan for your life...

@leggy23: I suppose @stephennevets will have their own response, but I see it as a choice. Regardless of the effort expended, we still have the option to choose how we will react to any given situation. We can choose to feel like a victim and feel sad or angry, or we can choose to look at it as an opportunity to rewrite our own story in a better way or consider it a lesson learned. After all, happiness is only a frame of mind. We have the ability to choose if we want to be in control of our feelings or allow others to control it for us.

An example of making a choice where there isn't even anyone to blame would be in a situation where one goes to hospital for one problem and then discovers that they have cancer. This could be looked at as a double whammy and you could be all sad and angry about having 2 problems, or you could be grateful for having the first problem that lead to discovering about the cancer BEFORE it got so bad that it begins to bother you and has spread so far as to be harder to overcome. In the 2nd case, you would feel happy to have discovered the cancer early. Of course it is better if you had no illnesses, but regardless, it is still in your power to determine how you wish to respond to any given situation.

I appreciate your input, but if you catch a better half cheating, will you decide to be happy? i think most people will feel angry atleast for the first couple of hours. you can decide to not react sadly but the feeling will be there from time to time and you have to remind yourself to focus on what's important to you. its like a farm where grass grows and you need to maintain it by weeding out the grass.
I'm not trying to discredit any one's ideas as i know we have to come up with something. just making conversation. I hope @stephennevets understands and isn't offended.

Thanks for the explanation @leggy23. I figured something must have recently happened to you. Of course there will usually be that roller-coaster of emotions at first unless you have real good self-control. In the end though, you don't want to ruin your own health and happiness for someone who doesn't deserve it. A long time ago, I was told that when something like that happens, you can be glad that you were able to discover that the other person was no good for you. Get them out of your life and make room for someone better. If you hold onto feelings about them, they win and you lose. A cheater is not worth losing to. Look after yourself and find a more suitable partner. Having said that; there is nothing wrong with remaining independent either.
