I'm actually quite in favor of vice.org adopting SMT, assuming that they actually do it. Adult media has been one of the primary technology drivers on the Internet for the last couple of decades.
But, having been focused on adult content from day one, I imagine that there creators have given significantly more thought to their legal protection than the developers of Steemit, and that makes a huge difference.
The association with the blockchain technology may be ultimately a problem for steem in terms of PR, but here and now – this is a problem which we can observe and predict, on a platform which has no planning or architecture to protect itself against such a threat.
It is very pointedly not about what I would prefer to see or enjoy but an issue of legal vulnerability and acknowledgment of same.

I have already looked at the NSFW content on Steemit that is already being rewarded, and I came away sorely disappointed. Really bad lo-res GIFs of older porn… It's an embarrassment, really. I would normally expect better. People should demand better, but I look at the votes and the amount they earn and realize that it's mainly a place to park votes for bots to trade value.
I would prefer much better porn, but this seems to be the best you guys can do.
The problem with this contest is that it is actively soliciting people to send identifiable content. The only people who would really care about the crap level of porn under the NSFW tag are the copyright holders – but in this case we are talking about active participants who are being actively solicited.
