It's OK, from my experience, people from England are terrible at speaking English. Sure it's their language but it has so much slang now, or they just don't spell properly it can be difficult to understand what they are saying.

Part of my job I deal with emails from India, England, and America and sometimes I have a hard time telling them apart because they can't really speak the language properly.

You however are pretty good with writing the language so you seem to doing the right thing when it comes to practice.

Haha. Thanks. But I am only good at writing.
I mess myself up when I try to speàk in English.

speaking a different language can be intimidating. Even I get nervous when I try to speak with my German friend, she would say something in German and then I just get very shy and can't speak it back to her.

Haha. I know that feeling. My friend speaks English better than I am.
He starts a conversation with me in English randomly and I barely can keep up with him.

I think you should try to talk back to her as much as you can. This will help establish your self-confidence and language skill.
