Hi ate @olivia08, congrats for the milestone. Here's my entry:

164559_1724929572608_6427363_n.jpg

My nanay with my niece. She's always happy to carry her great grand child.

Nanay Ceding as how we call her. She's a short lady but she was hardworking, she carries a heavy bucket full of fishes and sell it on the highways, she'd walk for miles just so she can sell everything. Her back hurts but she never complains about the heavy load. My grandfather was a fisherman and the fishes my nanay would sell were his fresh catch.

Another thing that I love about my nanay was her cooking. She always cook a local dish we refer as "inun-onan" where she wrapped them in young banana leaves and cook it in a mud pot.

After she had been bedridden and couldn't cook anymore, I have never tasted any inun-onan as tasty as my nanay's.

Her suman as well is something that I adore. She would often ask me to help her rub coconut shreds into the banana leaves and even help roll the suman even if I was bad at rolling them.

Relate much..Oh.so adorable..same as my nanay lola, she was selling salted fish before..
Thank you for joining my contest @junebride many of us love our grandma s

Your grandmother was a very sweet woman. I can imagine how much you loved her and she loved you.

My grandma has always been a sweet woman to me too, but she was also my hero. I lived in a big city when I was a kid, my grandma took me and my friend to a movie. To get there we had to take the subway train. When we were at the station my friend didn't listen to the alarm that rang, telling us the doors were going to close, we would have to wait for the next subway train.

My friend ran into the train while the doors were closing. My grandother didn't think twice and put herself between the closing door so the train could not leave. She wanted to prevent the train to leave the station while my friend was in it. It scared me that she did that, but I also thought she was very brave.
My grandma passed away, but she lived a long and happy life. I am very grateful for having her in my life for so long.

We both love our grandmother as they love us.Thank you so much for your nice entry.

This is my participation in this wonderful contest:

In this photo I was one year old. I was wearing a pink dress that was a gift of my grandmother.
THINGS I RECALL MOST ABOUT MY GRANDMA
I’m from Venezuela, here we says “Abuela” and that meaning “grandma”, but I din’t call her “abuela” but “mamagrande”(That mens “Big mother”), because of my mother. She says that to call her “abuela” was to say her “very very very old woman”. Then my “abuela” was ever for me “mamagrande”. She was of dark skin and ever smiled.
She smoked with the cigarette fire inside his mouth and never burned. She was a descendant of African slaves who had escaped and they got used to smoking in this way so that at night they could not discover where they were by the light of the tip of the cigarette. She liked help everybody and in the place where we lived everybody loved her.
I remind a Mother’s Day that I saw my sister Marcia gave a gift to my mother and another to “mamagrande”. Then I run and the gift my sister gave me for my mother I give it to “mamagrande” and after said my sister gave me the another gift for my mother, and when she said that there were no other nor money to buy it I felt me very sad.
My “mamagrande” was very special, a grandmother that gave a lot of love to her grandsons and grandsons outsiders.
She had many wise words. I remember these: "Fortune tellers do not know where evil comes from, when evil is for them they can not guess"
She died when I was eight years old.

A WONDERFUL STORY ABOUT ME AND MY GRANDMA
I say that the most wonderful story of me and my “mamagrande” (grandmother) was to grow learning with her example to love and to do well to everybody. She ever had her hands open for help everybody, at day, at night. Ever looked for the solutions of troubles of all family, neighbors and people unknown.
That was her wonderful story and her wonderful heritage

What a great story my dear. You remind me of my dear grandmother who loved me so much. She taught me how to be strong and be a good woman.
Thank you for your entry and I am so happy to meet you from Venezuela.I feel wonderful having you as first entry.Nice meeting you my friend.

Thank you, @olivia08.

Hello, @olivia08, It's a very good thing to have 500 followers!!!

This is my participation in your nice contest:
20180625_062853.jpg
My grandamother "Mom Anne"
The grandmothers left many teachings. Mine (Mom Ana) did not stop saying daily:"There are two important commandments: Love God above all things and all the people around the world".
When a neighbor got sick she would visit him to help in any way she could.
I also remember that she taught me to thanks: "Carmencita, when someone does you a help, you should always give thanks"
I did not understand much but I answered: "Yes, grandma, I will thank before I leave" I do not know where I planned to go, but I always said it that way.
There are so many things that grandmas taught before: values, family formation, now that the home has lost that education and grandmothers are modern, many do not even like to be called "grandmother". Well, the world changes. Or are people the ones that change?

Thank you so much and so welcome.
The wonder of what happened to the world and people now is not normal. At least we belong to the old people and we could able to share it to our next generation..Thank you so much my dear.

This is my participation in the contest...
My grandmother was called Rebeca, and when I was little I remember that she was very concerned about teaching me how to iron, she called me when she was ironing my dad's pants and she said: "you should fold it like this", as with shirts. He always repeated "you must iron your husband's shirts like that". It was also very special the songs that he sang to my brother and me, I still remember them: There was Mr. Don Gato, sitting on his roof, meow, meow, meow meow, sitting on his roof; when he received a letter, that if he wanted to be married, meow, meow, meow meow, if he wanted to be married; with a white kitten, daughter of a black kitten miau, miau, miau miau, daughter of a black kitten ....

I loved that song and especially the security and comfort that I felt I would repeat with my future children.

Thanks @olivia08 for making me remember such good times ... Congratulations for your 500 followers

Thank.you so.much @sandrapatricia.you.are welcome.We loved and missed our grandmother

Hello @olivia08, this is the photo of my grandmother:

Rosa Matilde Hernandez de Hernandez was the name of my grandmother. She was born in Villa de Cura, Aragua Venezuela, was the second of three brothers, married my grandfather Nerio Hernández Rodríguez and had two children: Guillermo who is my dad and Matilde, my aunt.

I do not know what to tell you because she was not a good grandmother.

They lived in a very big house with a huge patio where we played, they had fruit trees and we spent them riding in those bushes of guava, mandarin, eating the fruits.

My grandmother made bread cakes to sell, my grandmother also embroidered and sewed, especially children clothes.
I remember that in the afternoons she would always go out to visit her relatives and I would go with her, so I would take advantage and play with the cousins.

Why you say your grandmother was not good?anyway thank you for dropping by

Sweet memories with your grandmother.

I call my two Grammys both on mother's side and father's side "Lola"

I havent been with them for such a long time. Will now talk about my Lola on my father side since my Lola on my mother's side already passed away. My Lola or I sometimes call her "Inay Tina" is a sweet Lola. She would spoil me a lot. Prepare me coffee, snacks on the afternoon or even at night.

She tells me all the time that I needed to pursue myself to be successful in life so that I will be the one who will take care of her when she gets really really old. She meant I will support her financially. Hahaha. So be it, will extend my help to her if I can. Thanks for this contest nay Deevi. Good luck to everyone who participated!

Hello everybody, what a nice contest. Congratulations @olivia08 for your 300 followings. Excuse my very little English, I'm from Venezuela in Amèrica, there we speak Spanish.

This is my grandmother with me when I was a baby. She died when I was twelve, and the day when
she was buried, it was my birhtday thirteen. It was very sad for me for that I understand you, @olivia08.
My grandmother was very kind and I was her consented grandson. I remember that she and I
made a mischief together: eating powdered milk with sugar hiding from my parents .

This is my grandmother with my cousins.

I lived 8 years with my grandmother until her departure, I had a very strong character with your children, but my I loved and I consented, but that if that would let him the food that was terrible, because the punishment was where most hurt me, not going to school , neither my mother nor my father could do something to lift the punishment, so every morning I had to force myself to breakfast, not allowed to leave the House without getting me a morsel to his mouth.
Going to school was what I liked and if needed would happen all day crying.
But clearly all of this happened when once in college I fainted for lack of food in my stomach, so while she was alive I don't miss breakfast.
Now I miss it and remember it always whenever I go out hasty and not breakfast due to lack of time.
So remember it for that and much more. Pleasant memories that are still vivid in my memory.

Thanks to @steemgigs @surpassinggoogle @teardrops, the judge of @mermaidvampire by the contest.

Hello, @olivia08 and everybody. Not everyone has good memories of their grandparents. My grandmother was a woman of very strong character.

He lived in the upper part of the house, sometimes she came down to visit us. When I was sure it came down was when one of my brothers or I did a prank. Then he would quickly descend the stairs to fall to blows.
I do not have any special or nice memories of her.
We do not keep photos of her because at that time photographs were rarely taken.
It's a drawing from web because the face of this old woman is similar to my grandmother face:

Thank you so much fir joining We love our grandmother to.much

hi nay Deevi,
it's nice to have a Lola, I really missed both my granny, in fact I grow with my maternal Lola, she's sweet and a very good cook, she loves us all her grandchildren, I can have everything I want from my Lola, that's what I miss hahaha...she's the best!

Congratulations on 500 followers

I don't really recall my grandparents from both sides because I was still young when they died but I hear my sisters talk about them fondly.

They remember how our lola from the motherside was a beauty she was even a Miss Cavite candidate.

That she absolutely adored my eldest sister who she called Pet, because she was so petite.

They tell me how great a cook she was and that our talent for cooking comes from her.

Congrats to your 500 followers madam @olivia08.

I remember you were the first to support my contest before. Hihi.

Too bad I dont have a grand mom. I mean, I never met them (both sides). So I have nothing to share. I sometimes envy those who have grandparents, but this is life. So its kinda ok. Good thing I have my parents complete and they are grandparents now coz my sibs has there own children. Its funny sometimes they are asking to have a grandchild from me. I was like, mom/dad are you kidding me? Am I not too young to have a child? Let me enjoy my young adulthood. And Im single remember. Then they will start to laugh.
They always tell me that I have to enjoy life and die happy without any regrets.

Congrats again madam. :)
And goodluck to all the participants. :)

This is my lola(grandmother)from my mother side. received_1680704261984637.jpeg
My lola is already 91 years old but still strong and still manage herself to go Davao City alone from her place Samal Island.
What I can remember her saying, is that you have to "work first before you eat." hahahah. It's already a habit to wake up early for the old age. While lola is awake she will cook rice with sweet potato in it which I missed about her. My lola is strict and very disciplined to us. She wanted us to be grown up responsible. She is like.."If u want something, then u should work for it to have it."
So we can't eat our breakfast if we never clean our bedroom. That is really what she wants us to do first thing in the morning. And she hates seeing you mangalumbaba or resting your chin in your hand especially early in the morning because you will have bad luck for the rest of the day. She wants us to get occupied like finishing the household chores first before playing. And my lola is very conservative too, she don't want u to wear short shorts she will going to pinch your singit hahahah. I don't know what is it in english but it is the part of the body that is closer to the where u came from and see the world. 😆🤣✌️
Even though my lola is strict she is very loving and funny. I remember my youngest cousin went to lola's house with sando on top but no underwear. (All her sons living with her in same compound and I was with her when I was in grade 4 so these are all I can recall) She shouted out and said. "Oy! unsa man ni inyo anak gipagawas nga walay salawal. Ambi be tagai kog short diha." But no one listened. Suddenly, I just saw my cousin wearing a sando bag or cellophane bag whatever you call it.😂 She just cut the two sides of the bottom as hole to my cousin's legs and the two handles of the sando bag were in his shoulders and it fits him and it looks like bathing suit. 😂
FB_IMG_1529735132535.jpg

The first photo were taken 4yrs.ago and the last one was last year.
My lola widowed when she's 33, her youngest offspring was 2 yrs.old that time and my mom who is the eldest and only daughter among 9 siblings was 15yrs. So I can see her hardwork knowing the fact that my lola never been into school. She is literally illiterate. I was once her eyes, and hand before when she needs to read and write something. She enable to provide the food for her offspring through physical hardwork. She was a carpenter, fisherman and a farmer and sell her crops in neighborhoods even climb mountain to sell all of them. She sold different varieties of her bananas and her very own fish sauce. I would like u to know that my lola has the best ginamos or fish sauce in the whole wide world..😂 Yes, it is one of her specialty. I am so proud of her despite of her inability she was able to raise her children healthy and strong. My lola is good at climbing coconut tree. She was even the one to get something for me before. She can climb even the highest coconut tree that is why I'm so amazed with her. Making Nipa and broomstick were her means of livelihood income as well, that is why she's good at it and I used to call her real WONDERWOMAN.

That's all and Thank You te for this contest. Teary eyed here because I know those years of her were toughed. I wish I have money so I can pamper her. Do her shopping,go to Baguio or whatever place she wants and send her to massage parlor and beauty salon. There are so many things I want to make her happy before she will leave in this world. I hope time will come for me to be able to do it all. 😥

Kanindot sa story ni lola 34 ko nabiyuda cin cya 33
Good luck cin cin

Hi @olivia08 this is my participation in the contest of @olivia08 for the celebration of your 500 followers.I was unfortunate because I did not have the happiness of feeling what a grandparent's love is because all my grandparents died before I was born. However, my father told me that his mother (my grandmother) was swimming across the Portuguese river, a river that runs from west to east the territory of the State of Portuguesa and the south of the Cojedes State, within the Central Western Region of Venezuela. And she crossed it in its widest part in the middle of August when in Venezuela it is the rainy season.

And mounted on horse, she drove cows to make them move from one bank to the other. It would have taken me a lot to meet that brave woman who was my paternal grandmother.

  ·  6 years ago (edited)

You must inherit her talent my dear.
Thank you for joining.

Hi, @olivia08, congratulations for your

followers in Steemit. I hope you soon have one million of them.
This is my participation in your special contest:

The lady in the photo is my grandmother: Catalina Jimenez. She was like a mother to me. Although she was strong in character, with me she was very sweet and tender. She was a very original mixture: French father and Dominican mother.

I remember particularly about her that she always had a hen tied by a leg and a rooster tied also because the house pen had no fence. We did not eat the eggs, they were to get more chicks. She ever told me: "Never sacrifice the females, they are the ones that produce".

So we only ate the male chickens. Eventually she came to have a long line of hens tied with short ropes and a rooster with a longer rope so that he could overtake all the hens. Of course these strings got tangled up every now and then and the job that I did every day was to stay tuned to untangle them.

Her teaching to take care of the females and her love for the breeding that I have always had with birds and other breeding animals, and as she taught me, I only sacrifice the males.

In fact, when I go fishing, if I catch a fish that because of its bulk I realize that it is female, that it has eggs, I immediately throw it into the water again.

Another detail that I remember of her is that when someone asked for money she always said she did not have it, because all the money she got she kept for me, 'cause I was her only grandson, male and the spoiled.

Hello, @olivia08, thanks the web we can to talk so far you are. I'm writing you from Venezuela (América), I´m glad for your 500 followwers and this is my participation to your contest:

My grandmother was called for my aunts an me "maíta" (That means "little mother") Shee raised me, taught me the love and respect for the elderly.
My aunts (her daughters) say that she did not visit them when they were going to have their babies. However, when my son Gioser was born, "maíta" went to Maternity to see us.

There was a favoritism.in your grandmother.
Thanks for joining
