[CONTEST] My Local News : Do you want to be a Citizen Journalist?

Ever since I started on Steem nearly five years ago, one of the things I always thought the platform was ideally suited for was Local News.

I had a go in the early days at building a local community and developing the local news idea but at the time the lack of Steem presence in the UK, and the falling STEEM price, never allowed it to grow.

Now I wonder if it would be a good time to revisit the idea.

There are so many interesting snippets of news in the Diary Game posts. I often think how these could be developed into full local news stories.

I am sure there is a whole army of 'Citizen Journalists' waiting to tell the news from their area.

Become a Citizen Journalist

To take part in this challenge I am inviting people to write a post about a news event in their local area.

The events must be current, and they must be something you have direct, first hand knowledge about.

The posts should not be rewrites of articles from a local newspaper or online news site.

Examples of the type of news you might write would be...

• the opening on a new school
• a local festival or cultural event
• a flood, typhoon or some extreme weather event
• a traffic accident
• a new health initiative in your area
• the expansion of a local business or factory

And many, many more.

Posts should be at least 300 words, in any language with photos taken by yourself.

Each post should only cover one story.

You can post as often as you like, but no more than once per day.

Please add #mylocalnews and your #country tag among the first four tags, and put a link to your post in the comments below.

The title of your post should be...

• [MY LOCAL NEWS] Name of your town/area & country - Title of the news story

Please also include in the post the date the event or story took place. It must not be more than a week old.

Posts do not need to be in any specific community.

Rewards

I will be voting on good posts, and giving TRX rewards to the best posts.

The rewards will be 50, 100 or 150 TRX depending on post quality and #club status.

To decide on rewards I will be looking at interest of the story, and quality of the writing, presentation and photographs.

Posts must be original and authentic to be considered for a reward.

To help verify your posts you might want to add a link to an online local news source covering the same story, or invite other local Steemians to add comments about the story.

This challenge will keep going as long I see good quality posts being produced.

If there are many good posts it will be expanded. If there are no good posts it will be stopped.
