Ooh, thought it was gonna be another photo contest, didn't ya?

Nope! Today we're gonna get a bit on the permaculture-ish side, and get to know your nature ...with SCIENCE! [picture mad cackling here]

Don't worry, I'm not going to make you work too hard! I just thought how many people go about their lives without really knowing some of the major influences on the land where they live, so I thought I'd challenge you to find out these five things about where you live!

One:

What is the latitude of your city/town/village/farm?

Two:

What is the annual average amount of precipitation (rain and snow)?

Three:

How many average days of sun do you get per year?

Four:

What is your watershed (what river, lake, or ocean if you're right on the coast, does water drain to when it rains, besides what trickles down to aquifers)?

Five:

Name five plants that are native to your area.

Good to see you, @neilur!

Me too😎😎😎😍

Awesome contest!
I live in Casper, Wyoming, which apparently is at 42.8501° N.
We get an average of 11.89 inches of precipitation annually including 77.5 inches of snow.
We get an average of 220 days of sun according to bestplaces.net (though they got the precipitation a bit off...)
Our watershed is the North Platte River which eventually drains into the Mississippi watershed.
Native plants... I'm new to the area, so it's hard for me... From what I see: locust (tree), sagebrush, greasewood plus a couple that I looked up: yarrow, death camas
(Interestingly, we have no holly here, few maples and almost no plantain weed!)

Sorry, didn't see that you wanted us to have our own posts...
I've not been out enough to get the pictures I'd want for this contest.

No worries, you're not the first person to do that, I'm counting it.

Thank you for entering! I've been to Casper, it's a beautiful place. :)

It is a beautiful place - especially when the storms and rains have continued for so long, keeping it greener for longer.

You just planted 0.03 tree(s)!
