Rufus has been ill for three years now; before he fell ill he had a persistent headache in which he failed to seek medical help. He believed in faith healing and boasted that he could never be ill. Thus he lived in persistent denial of his ailment. But then the illness overcame him and he had been spending so much on the illness. Doctors has diagnosed him of having a tumor in the brain which could have been avoided had he sought medical attention earlier. What he now experience is pain and an uncertain future, and of course he keeps spending so much money just to manage the tumour so that it does not keep growing at an exponential rate. Surgery is the only option for him if he is to get well and this medical expertise can only be efficiently done in India. Now he lives in regret because he has shown a lack of wisdom in the name of displaying faith in God and now he sees the truth in the words of the elders that says “a stitch in time saves nine”. This truth is indeed for real.
