Bad News
It was recently brought to my attention that the way we are working the prize pool is against the [Steemit Rules}(https://steemit.com/faq.html#What_is_considered_spam_or_abuse)
The problem is not in the fact we are doing a prize pool but the fact that we are requiring an upvote and resteem. As most of you know, those two things were only recently added to the rules to prevent having to pay out to people who do nothing but drain resources from the system. They don’t upvote, they leave comments that have nothing to do with the post and are not trying to build their SP so they can help others and have chosen to cash out every SBD and Steem they get.
We also had the problem that I was basically supporting the pool with my personal earnings and I need to be able at some point to take the occasional something for myself. I have bills like everyone else.
Never fear, all is not lost
I have never been one to break the rules when I can see a very good reason for that rules. I think the rule change was needed because there are a lot of scams out there. So, when life throws a wrench in your plans, back up and try something different.
A plan is already being worked on that will allow us to make various size payouts of 5 to 100 SBD AND give away long term storage seed vaults and water purifiers.
I will be unavailable much of the next few days as we remodel the bathroom. But it should only be 2 to 3 days at the most, and unless I end up failing in bed soon after we stop for the day, I should have at least a little time each evening. So I am hoping I can get everything worked out this weekend to get it started next Monday.
Is a crackdown eminent?
Who knows, but I think the possibility is real. There are a lot of rules on that list that are being broken by thousands of people every day. Steemit must keep itself within certain laws and/or rules or it will be blacklisted by the search engines. Pretty much every one of the rules are about things that can and eventually will get the site blacklisted. I think it is just a matter of time before they will start cracking down.
We will be ahead of the game when it happens!

If Daddy hadn't been with me, it would not have been done. The tub was a must do. I could not longer take a shower without water going into the basement. The other stuff was not mandatory, but since it all cost less than buying just the shower and surround, why not!

Also thanks for the link re: what is spam and abuse, I hadn't seen that before. Most contests I've seen have required resteems! I will give it a read.

I honestly think the rules have only recently been added. It is possible I missed it, but before I started the Pools, if looked at everything on that page and did not see it. Plus, a couple of months ago, I had a whale take aim at me who was spouting all the things on that list while he kept downvoting me and a lot of other people because he was a follower of someone he still, to this day doesn't like. I said then that if they don't want specific things, it should be in the rules. If they had been there, I feel he would have said so at that time.
But, that is fine, soon as we finish the bathroom I already have a plan in mind that will not go against the rules. Just have to get everything set up. I think it will be MUCH better.
