In 1916, when the world was at war, there was a soldier who was drafted to the front lines in Stockholm. His name was Melvin. When he got there he found that casualties were very high and the commanding officer was using a wrong tactics resulting in the death of his troops. Determined not to die he chose to approach the commanding officer about a more practical approach. He suggested that they utilize the strategy of guile and stealth rather than a frontal approach as their foes were more numerous than they were.

The commanding officer heeded the idea and they designed an elaborate plan to outwit their enemy. Their plan worked and they were able to reclaim the frontiers of Stockholm. Following this strategy saved the British many soldiers and Melvin went down into history as the man that helped win the war. But what no one really saw was the humility of the commanding officer who knew that accepting to implement a new plan from a low ranking officer was the stitch in time that saved nine. Melvin may have had his name etched in history but he made the humble decision to save lives.

Frequent robbery incidents at Eke market square makes the environment unconducive for habitation and transaction of business. The residents of the locality pass sleepless nights to safeguard their property and business premises. One owner of a supermarket had his premises broken into and the contents of the supermarkets vandalized. Another seller of motor parts had a similar ugly experience. The activity of night marauders became the talk of the whole community. Tears of those who lost their property each day create a gloomy picture of this sub-urban city. Owners of lock up stores are beginning to lose patronage due to the ugly incidents.

One landlord whose magnificent bungalow adjoined the market decided to take precautionary steps to avert the attack of thieves and vandals. He would always drum into the ears of members of the family, "Nobody should go to bed without cross-checking the gates and entrance doors; examine all the bolts and padlocks. "A Stitch in Time Saves Nine". The instruction of the landlord became a slogan in the household. Children often convert it into mock song and caricature. But the truth is that the man's vision served its purpose.

Warrior's Wisdom

Joseph was the son of the chief of the Yanomami tribe. The tribe was one of the few remaining in the Amazon, between the borders of Brazil and Venezuela. For the tribe there were no borders, all the territory of the Amazon was their home, they were nomads, and they changed places when the climatic conditions were adverse and the hunting of animals was scarce.

Joseph learned everything he knew, from his father the head of the tribe. His father always advised him to listen to the Chaman*, of the tribe and its warriors more experienced in the important decisions of the tribe.

Joseph knew from his father that there were rival tribes, that they wanted to attack them to steal their wives, and their crops. His father was sick and old, and in a sacred ceremony he passed on to his son the head of the tribe.

Joseph being the new chief assembled his advisors, and alerted the tribe to be prepared for a possible attack by the enemy tribe. Their preparations in time prevented them from being attacked by surprise. Joseph won the battle and proved to be a great leader and warrior.

  • Chaman = Warlock and healer of the tribe.

Wisdom and courage a powerful mix, specially when we add prudence. Good Luck!

Thank you, I´m glad you liked it.

Bad stitches

Andy, Jim and Mathew had not studied for Monday's exam and they decided not to apply for the evaluation. To get the opportunity to be allowed to take the test on another day, they devised a plan. They dirtied their hands, face and clothes with oil, grease and dirt. They would go to the teacher's office after the exam. "One stitch in time now nine" - they thought.

-- Professor, we apologize for not attending today's exam. Last night we were returning from a friend's wedding in another city and the car broke down. That's why we return as dirty as you can see.

The good teacher demonstrating their understanding, allowed them to apply the exam two days later. After that time, they were ready for the test.

The teacher placed them in separate classrooms and applied the test with these four questions:

  1. Who was married?

  2. What time did the car break down?

  3. Where exactly was it decomposed?

  4. What is the brand of the car?

NOTICE: If all the answers are the same, everyone will have the maximum score.

They had not anticipated that the teacher did not stitch without thimble.

LOVE it! Now that's a story ;) Nicely done, @yaleal

Let sleeping dogs lie

When I saw you an intense emotion took hold of me that I can not describe: I want to perceive your scent of roses, listen to your melodious contralto voice but especially I am desperate to touch you, feeling you more and more of myself and knowing that you feel the same.
But we must not deceive ourselves. These nine years that have passed since we separated have created a gap between us that it is very difficult to close.
You got married, I got married, for what you said to me you love your husband and your little baby. I found a beautiful and funny girl from Manchester, however, I see you and I know that in you palpitates that desire that made us, inseparable.
I want us to escape once again, to invent an excuse to spend a weekend together, but who will come later, I do not know, but I prefer to restrain myself and hold you back, because a stitch in time saves nine. Let's live and let live, in peace and, meanwhile, take a shower with ice water, each one separately, in your room, do you think?

The replacement dancer

Since I was little I always liked to participate in cultural activities and, especially, dance. Although I didn’t have a great talent, I always participated in the dances that were prepared in the school. The dance teacher supported me but she didn’t give me roles as principal dancer.

For the school’s anniversary week, a representative dance of Venezuelan folklore was being prepared. There were two girls who did a part of the duel of dances, and they would be the main dancers. Although I knew that this role wasn’t going to have me, every time the girls practiced their steps alone, I saw them, and memorized each of their routines.

Every day I practiced those routines at home because I didn’t want to be seen doing it at school. The day of the act, one of the girls couldn’t attend because she felt bad. The dance teacher was very worried and I approached her and said: "I know Maria's routine, I memorized her while she practiced, I can replace her". The teacher let me do it. Everything went perfect, thanks to that I am always ready for when my opportunity comes.

James was determined to get better grades this semester. His previous years result were poor thus, he was almost down with depression but after considering his background and the need to provide for his siblings being the eldest,he was spurred by the desire to make things better for them.
He and his siblings were orphans having lost their parents few years back.

Prior to this semester, he usually reads when exams were knocking on the door basically because he had to work part time to support himself;buying of school materials, feeding and other expenses. This led to rush to cover so much ground in so short a time.

He successfully balanced things up, reading at least 5 hours in the morning before school, after which he goes to work. This method proved quite effective against the one of previous years in which he planned to take time away from work and face his studies when the exams are close. The exams came this time he was able to walk out of each paper with a happy countenance. The results came;He did exceptionally well with his result enabling him to get a scholarship,a big bonus to him indeed.

Nice, short and beautiful story

Thanks for dropping by. I highly appreciate it

This is lovely... 😍

thanks boss

Very nice and inspiring story

I appreciate, thanks sir

The fact that james had a problem and he found a very workable solution and stuck with it is very much inspiring. So much to pick from such a short, concise and beautifully written story.

Hard work pays... He was rewarded for his efforts despite the challenges he faced. Nice👍

See why we need to balance things up?😏
Its what works

What a creative mind you have

Greetel struggled to know how to get the compass that appeared in his dream, if this changed he had lost the compass, along with the powers that he seemed to have. There was only one day, from the opening of his eyes until midnight or the exchange dream putting another challenge.
The dream showed a crimson compass and Greetel knew exactly where to find it, there was only one small problem, the wolf that used to be in that dark place would not let it reach its target.
I get to where I knew I would find her and saw a red flash in the distance, I walk up to her, just then the wolf howled, showing himself to Greetel and displaying his fangs and claws, the moon was at its highest point, few minutes serious midnight.
With spells and black magic would hypnotize the beast and so it was, I invoke a spell in his mind since being a dream the power of his mind dominated the world, howling louder and louder the wolf was reduced while Greetel managed to take in his hands the little compass and manipulate it to obtain everything that he craved.

A stitch in time saves nine...that night and ever

I write to remember and remember to learn, reflect and teach others to learn through my experience. This has been the case since I was a child and my parents and teachers noticed my precocity and stimulated it, which I appreciate so much.
At age 19 I was receiving my first university degree in Psychology next to my dear Edward, my ideal boy, 5 years older than me and equally intelligent and impetuous, together we live many things, especially that night when we celebrated our graduation.
We dance, we kiss at the party, in the garden, in the lobby of that party room. So intoxicated we were, both alcohol and passion, that we got into the car determined to go further but we did not have the strict rules of that club and we had to leave half naked, driving at great speed, without realizing that a truck was approaching. we crash Alcohol, sex and speed have never been a lasting formula of success.
I return to today and see the picture of my beloved dead that day and my loving mother approaching me the wheelchair saying hurry your students wait.

A STITCH IN TIME SAVES NINE

Ada was the only child of her parents. They loved her and practically gave her all she wanted. She does whatever she wanted, whenever and however. Her mom always warned her but the dad said it was okay.

One day she asked her parents if it was okay for her to go to a party with her friends, her parents agreed but then her Mom asked the time for the party and she said 7pm. She was not happy about it. Her dad immediately asked the mom to stop talking and allow the child to live her life.

It was past 7 and Ada was ready for the party. She wore a very short dress and exposed parts of her body. As she was about leaving her mom called her and told her to be careful but Ada saw it as her mom not being happy for her.

She got to the party, enjoyed herself, drank a lot and was completely wasted. Her friends left her and she had to walk home alone. On her way she got robbed and raped and at that point she remembered all her mom's warning...

The words of the grandmother

"A stitch in time saves nine." That's what my grandmother used to say, and I believed her. The old woman had to have some reason, she had lived 101 years. Those were the only words I had kept in my memory and I walked through life with the intention of applying them.

That's why I had to kill Ramiro. Too unstable. That man was bad for business. But my grandmother had made a mistake, I saved more than nine. Since then everything was easy, liquid money, sound and singer, the rest was like sewing.

However, sometimes things can change, how I would like to tell you, old lady. Sometimes we believe too much in our steps and when we think that everything is fine. BOOM everything is over.

Last night a son of Ramiro went into the house, killed my wife and my children. Now I'm looking for him before he finds me. I'm sorry, grandmother... we do not always know how to give stitches.

"You will never know what we do on daily basis, until you catch a glimpse of the outcome of our inaction", Dr. Fred said why washing his hand.
He had just come from a surgery. A lady was diagnosed with hernia, it was in the final stages. She thought she could handle it. When it became obvious that she couldn't, she decided to take herself to the hospital. There, she waited for hours to be attended to. When it finally got to her turn, she was asked to go home just because she couldn't afford to pay the consultation fee, not to talk of footing her medical bills.
After much persistence, the doctor finally decided to see her. After thorough examination, he was alarmed at how bad her condition had become. He quickly prescribed some drugs for her and scheduled her for surgery", he paused for a moment.

"You see", he continued
"I just operated on her, the issue was really serious, if she had waited any longer, we wouldn't have been able to salvage the situation. If she hadn't persisted, if that doctor hadn't attended to her, she'd have been dead. Although there were a few irreparable damages".

Reason why you should go for regular check up, the earlier the better

Your character was sensitive enough to visit the hospital, thank God she didn't go to tradomedical centres

A Stitch in Time Saves Nine
By Stephen Martin

This is how Raphael Stitch discovered that he was a time traveler.

Raphael grew up in an orphanage with six other children and three nuns. The night Raphael was adopted the orphanage burned down and killed his childhood companions and the nuns who took care of them.

Raphael never quite got over the tragedy and years later he took up transcendental meditation.

One day, while meditating in his study, he began looking at an old photograph taken with his fellow orphans. Suddenly, he found himself transported back to his youth. He was holding his best friend Penny’s hand and he realized that he was really in the time the picture had been taken in.

The scene began to fade, but before it did he squeezed Penny’s hand and yelled, “Beware of the fire on November 7th. You will know I am speaking the truth because on that very day I will be adopted.” The scene faded and Raphael was back in his study.

Just then an adult version of Penny entered his study. “Are you OK?” she asked. “I heard shouting.”

He knew then that he was a time traveler.

i love your story

Thank you so much for this comment. You just made my day. If feels nice to have someone read something that you write

The semester just begun and there were lot of students in the school environment, most of them were freshmen who have waited for so long to finally be addressed by registration number rather than their names.

Some were happy they would be able to put on mufty to school rather than school uniforms. Some were happy they could finally stay past their curfew with close to legitimate excuse. Some were happy they'll be able to stay away from their parents for a long time.
Very few were aware of the actual struggle they'll pass through in order to ace their examinations in the tertiary institution. In realization of this, and to remind me hose that need reminders, the Vice Chancellor had to organize a customary freshers orientation in order to remind the freshmen that their journey of a thousand miles had just begun and it was left for them to decide how their first step would be. He said in his words: >I understand that you all have joy in your heart as you have begun the last phase of a journey you started long ago. Nevertheless, read your books and study hard for:

a stitch in time saves nine

A play of destiny.

An adventurer who every week was going in search of a new culture to know, a new place to visit but there was always a long way to go to get to the unknown. He planned and created plans for his trip, gathering what he thought necessary for any event that happened along the way.

He traveled very early Monday, the evening was pronounced and he wanted to take a break to rest, the warm sun dehydrated him, and he delayed with respect to the time he calculated. His water left no traces and only a mouthful of food remained. He did not equip his boots for the weight and now he needed them to dig into the forest at night. I do not take extra food or tents in case it was your turn to camp. He was in a situation and could not move forward or could be in danger.
I spend the night reclining in a tree, going cold, hungry and without water. And if that were not enough, his mind blamed him for not having taken a little more than necessary. He had to be cautious and act on time but sensibly.

Once they told me: In this life everything can happen but that is not the most incrible thing, the most incrible thing is that it happens.
Anyway, one stitch in time saves nine.

Looking frustrated and tired, I was returning from work. Lost in my thought i had just slumbed at the back seat of a taxi.

Then all over a sudden, my whole existence was awaken when i heard this beautiful voice said hello. Looking at her i could have sworn i was looking at an angel if she was dressed all white. We introduced ourself and then she asked why i was looking frustrated when she came into the car, before i could give her an answer, she said if i was heartbroken she could heal my broken heart as she rubbed her hands seductively on my chest. Just then, i noticed the wedding ring on her finger.

But Ofcourse! I said yes. How can i not want to be comforted by these beauty. Everything went so fast that we agreed to hook up that weekend. I took her card promising to call.

Weekend came and i was lost in dilema. Should i call her or not. Was she married? I have done many raunching things when it comes to women, but never with a married women.

With pain, i deleted her number. As a "stitch in time saves nine".

The story of Aaron

Aaron was a boy who liked to live on emotions. It does not mediate the expenses and lived the moment. You should not worry about your health until you have become ill because you have been prevented and you have not died to live a healthy life. Friendships get away from him because of his irresponsibility. Everything was like living a nightmare without being able to wake up for him. The lesson was passed around the corner and mercilessly his life was falling apart and sin was doing nothing about it.

One day life gave him a second chance to change and that made the difference could be worse if he did not change his attitude. He learned that one stitch a time will save a nine and that he must change before it is too late and he can not go back.

He dedicated himself to get the best out of him and understand the meaning of things and life. The importance of making good decisions was his main goal in a part that became his life. The change is known that it is not easy but with effort and dedication you can achieve good things.

A Stitch In Time Saves Nine Men

Olatunde was at the local pub trying shake off the annoyance from Prophesy's visit. Just as he had dragged his boat into the beach, Prophesy, the madman, had had the courage to board his boat and drive a finger through a small tear in his boat's sail. Just as Olatunde made to chase him off, he walked off proclaiming rubbish.

Soon, eight tourists entered the pub, looking for Olatunde. They wanted him to ferry them across. He drew a hard bargain, got three times the normal fare and led the men to his boat.

Just as they approached the most boisterous part of the crossing, a terrible wind blew into the tear in the boat's sail. The tear in the sail had been along the seams. The wind tore right through and a part of the sail blew into his face.

By the time Olatunde could free his face of the sail, it was too late. Head-on was a large rock. Before he could sound a warning, the boat crashed into the rock and broke. As the tourists screamed for dear life, all Olatunde could think of was Prophesy's words.

"A stitch in time saves nine." Prophesy had proclaimed.

A STITCH IN TIME SAVES NINE

In my first year in medical school, we were learning basic sciences which was more or less an extension of stuff learnt in senior high. I felt I knew enough; I was doing so well in my tests and exams, so I decided to "chill"

Second year came and we started proper pre-clinical lectures. In other words, we started learning completely new stuff that I had no form of knowledge about. But I kept reminding myself that I was a really fast reader and I'd catch up with my peers early enough.

I was almost rounding up my third year when it hit me that I was just two months away from my first professional exam! I had two years worth of workload to cover in two months! I ended up passing the exam in one sitting, but the stress I had to go through was enough to change me.

I'm in fifth year now, and I've learnt my lesson. I do the things I should when I should.

The first time he hit me, we were just two months into our marriage. We were arguing on politics, and while I gave my view, I was shocked into silence by a slap.
He begged almost immediately, but not before I saw a look on his face; a look I now recognise to be the thrill of power.
The second time, he hit me while I explained to him why we can’t have moi-moi for breakfast. It was 9pm and we were getting ready for bed. It was late, and so I decided to leave by morning.
With morning came tears streaming down his face and vows of how he’d never get violent again.
Lies.
With each beating I endured, the strength to leave dwindled.
Until last night.
I confronted him with a message from an anonymous sender, telling me about his cheating spree.
I could take his abuse, but I would not take the disrespect of him sleeping around, and I told him so.
This time, the blows didn’t stop; they rained until I felt nothing.
Now, I watch him as he realises he’s killed me.
I’m at peace, but I should have left at the first hit.

wow... great one..

Learning from mistakes, that's what life is about. Some time ago I had the opportunity to buy a house and a car, I had the money and I did not take it. I was just saying, why buy it today if tomorrow I will have money? An error that I have made several times. Do not leave for tomorrow what you can do today, something that I recommend, since an action on time can save you from many hardships. Today, I missed that opportunity I had and now I have nothing, no possibility of buying anything and worse, regretting everything I could not achieve by then.

I laid silently on my bed as the thoughts of what Sammy had said played through my head. The thought of how he ran happily to me,very eager to tell me the goodnews. He had gotten a message from Chevron Plc, that his application for internship has been accepted and he was to start the following monday. I could remember vividly of how Sammy had urged me to apply 3months ago in order for my application to be reviewed early and increase my chance of getting the internship, but I laughed and told him that it was not necessary to apply that early and besides,I had an Uncle who was working at Chevron and my chance of doing my Internship was 100% sure.
I had called my Uncle 2months afterward to ask him about the internship but he told me it was too late to apply.
Had I known,
I would have listened to Sammy three months ago.
I would have swallowed my pride and ego
I've learnt that the future is influenced by what we do and by doing it in time.

A STITCH IN TIME...

My friend Ada got married to her heartthrob five years ago and everything was going well for them. Except the fact that she was yet to conceive. I kept encouraging her to focus on enjoying her marriage; kids would come in due time.
She took in some time in June last year, with twins. Our joy knew no bounds. Until the series of excruciating abdominal pains started. Initially we assumed them to be normal pains associated with pregnancy, but they got worse.
I advised her to go for a scan or see a doctor. "No o..those hospital people have a way of seeing problems that are not there. I don't need any bad news about this my miracle pregnancy"
This whole while, one of the twins was in distress and later got spontaneously aborted. We discovered all this much later, and the doctor said there was still a chance to spare both the lives of the mother and the surviving baby if a C.S was done immediately. Ada was adamant.

I just left her house. She's still mourning the loss of her babies- none lived.

A stitch in time saves nine

I had a casting to work abroad, I would go with my best friend, the company would cover all expenses, select two people, everything was ready to go to introduce us.
A day before, I met with a group of friends who made me hesitate to go to the casting, because I did not know how true and safe they were, change their mind and at the last minute decide not to attend.
However, my friend attended and was selected, now works outside the country and is very successful.
I do not know if I had been the other chosen, I will remain with the doubt, the truth is that I miss the opportunity and now to meet with her I must do many paperwork that might have saved me from having attended the casting.
It's been three months and I'm still working on it.

Maggie had a good heart and a bright mind but God was she good at putting off her chores!
This made her Mother very upset as there was always so much work to be done around the house and Maggie would never help do any of it.
One day the King announced that the Prince would be looking and choosing his royal bride from kingdom’s fairest maidens. That meant Maggie qualified! She worked hard to make a beautiful dress to get the Prince’s attention.
When the day came for the Prince to walk through the procession of ladies, he noticed Maggie’s beautiful face then grimaced at her dress. The girl had been too lazy to sew in a straight line and had left many parts undone.
“What a bad example she will be for the ladies of the kingdom”said the Prince
So Maggie who hadn’t put enough effort into her sewing was left out of the competition and went back to her home to spend the rest of her days , alone and lazy. If only she had worked at being less lazy maybe things would have worked out for her.

At the school of writers of Maracaibo, Mark and John, worked hard on an important literary project. They are young, impetuous and very talented in writing.

This literary project represents the possibility to compete for a prize at the prestigious University of the country where Mark and John live.

Something serious was happening, and no one had noticed. The computer where it was kept all the literary research was on the verge of collapse. Marta and Juan detected some flaws, however continued his research. The preliminary results of the literary work were amazing, but the flaws in the computer persisted, although were slight. One night after many hours of work Mark and John took the decision to endorse all of the information in an external device due to the failures of the computer, which is sometimes presented.

The next day, arriving at school, the computer does not lit, and unfortunately it was damaged beyond repair. Mark and John took the measures before a problem that did not seem serious; they protected the information in a timely manner and this action will avoid many problems with your important project, which was submitted on time and received a mention of honor.

once upon a time a service provider earned a large sum of money by way of selling his items. He had to cross an extended manner to reach domestic. He went to an inn to get his horse. The solid guys delivered out his horse and stated, “Sir, your horse has misplaced a shoe nail. You higher wait and have it put in.” The merchant stated, “Sorry! I haven't any time now. moreover, one nail greater or much less in shoe does not be counted a great deal.” announcing so, he got on his horse and galloped it closer to his vacation spot.

After some time, any other nail from the shoe of the pony came off. the horse began to limp. Being in a rush, the service provider did no longer stop to restore the damage. After a while, the horse commenced to stagger. Very soon darkness of the night time prevailed everywhere. This further decreased the speed of the horse.

The darkness became falling. He turned into getting past due. At closing he got down and led the pony. inside the intervening time, a gang of robbers appeared from the wooded area. he could not escape with his horse and store his money. They thrashed him very well and snatched his money. The service provider back home with a lame horse and empty pocket. His carelessness had value a heavy

A stitch in time saves nine

A stitch in time saves nine might just be an adage to some but to me its actually a reality. If I had actually stitched my trouser in time then it would have saved my dignity.

It was on a Monday morning as usual I wore my cooperate attire to go to the hospital. Just as i was about leaving my lodge I noticed a small tear between my thighs but I thought it wouldn't hurt, so I continued my journey. As I got to the hospital, as i wanted to alight from the cab, then the small tear turned to big tear from end of my zip to the back of my trouser.

I was so embarrassed, had to shuffle back to another cab and then missed school for that day.
THEN I REALISED THAT A STITCH IN TIME SAVES NINE WAS NOT ONLY AN ADAGE BUT ALSO A REALITY......

I just gained admission to study medicine in the university,i was a very good student in the secondary school. After the first admission list came out and my name was not there,i threw a tantrum. my parents went to visit the VC.My dad was a good friend to the VC.
I packed into the hostel, made a lot of noisy and careless friends, feasted on a lot of novels. I had no care in the world.i read with less concern.
The year soon came to an end and we were to crossover to the next campus to continue our studies, and
to crossover, you must have passed all your courses.
Results were finally out and i went to check with some of my classmates, some of them were showing despair,i became a comforter. We were finally shown the list of people that were to repeat first year and my name was second to a girl who had repeated all the courses except general studies ,my world fell apart,i literally fainted though i was still standing,my classmates took turns in consoling me.Looking back on that day,i wish i put some effort and i wouldn't have lost a year, because from that day, life changed for me.

I had been seated at the balcony behind my office, pondering on the up and coming elections. Obviously, the State House of Assembly Seat, this turn, was going to be an almost easy catch for me.

Aside that the seat, representing my state constituency, Etim Ekpo LGA, was zoned to my ward (ward 2) I am one of only six eligible candidates considering the turn of events and preferences in today's Nigeria.

I thought of how much I may need to invest, my options if I lost and what my agenda will be if I finally emerged victorious.

The zeal to run for office needed to be marched with genuine reasons for I have never intended to stand election just to gain popularity or huge finances. I am a complete 21st century young African politician who has understood why Trump has constantly referred to my continent and sometimes to my country, Nigeria as shut hole and needed to work smart in a different direction to change that impression.

I have been deep in thought from my ninth story Abak road office balcony for maybe about 45 minutes or more when I noticed my phone ringtone singing softly from my office.

Just then, It dawned on me that I had been about more than 35 minutes late in submitting an Executive summary to my groups finaciers concerning a particular project in Akwa Ibom State Government.

I dashed into my office, dived for my GSM and YES, I had about 27 missed calls and a text. The calls were a bit worrisome but the text was altogether, devastating to my feelings.

It read "The Commissioner has sent in an executive summary as we didn't get your copy at 9: am as scheduled even though we tried contacting you. I advice that you work harder on the next project as you remain a valuable partner to us. Regards"

I felt a chill run through my body, a project which funds were to be mobilised to kick start in the next 8 days has been waved. How do I fund my campaigns flag off next two weeks? Will I have to wait another month? I should have sent this mail immediately I resumednoffice in the morning, a stitch in time should have saved nine. FB_IMG_1519209594590.jpg

It's a weekend in winter and Clark was to travel to see his mother in the next town. He knew something was wrong with his car, he had seen the signs and red lights but he ignored them all because the journey is a short one.

‘What's the worst that could happen in a 10mile journey?’
Everyone got in the car, his wife, Lois and two kids, Chloe and Joey. The journey started smoothly until the worst happened. Half way through their journey, the car rumbled to a stop and no matter how hard Clark tried to get it back on, it wouldn't bulge.

It wasn't long after this that it started snowing. The road was blocked, visibility was poor and so he couldn't call for a towing vehicle. Also, no one passed their way. Clark and his family spent the night in the car. He felt bad for putting his family in danger just because he couldn't make a stitch in time.
‘If only I had fixed the car' he said to himself, ‘we wouldn't have been in this mess.’
That was when he realised the true meaning of the wise saying, a stitch in time saves nine.

Chidimma is becoming more apprehensive as 2018 JAMB is speedily approaching. Thought of the centre was the first item that caught her busy mind. Remote examination centre that gulp income and time constitute an enemy of progress. A recall of how she suffered in the previous JAMB examination gave Chidimma 'goose' pimples.

In this mood of fear and worries, there was a knock on the door.
"Is anybody in this house?" a female voice called from outside.
"Yes somebody is inside", Chidinma responded in a tone full of hospitality.

She quickly opened the door and saw Chideb, a fellow JAMB candidate.
“You look tattered like a rabbit that escaped the harsh grip of an eagle. What is eating you up,” Chideb inquired.
"The coming JAMB is taking me unawares", Chidimma replied. Her habit of last minute rush for every examination does not favour Chidimma in JAMB examinations.
“You guys wait until it is late before you prepare for examination. For me, I begin from the word 'go' to read and prepare for every examination. My father taught me that ‘a stitch in time saves nine’ Chideb explained to her friend before she departed.

The Right Time.

...so i woke up early and exicited about the activities of the day because prior to that day, which was the night before, i had set some activities to be done. I had all the plans for the day all set up because i wanted to maximize my time.

After my devotion and all, i engaged in the activities of the day. Basically, what i planned on doing was to score some songs and work on ears musically and learn some stuffs about marketing online. So i did this for days. Sometimes i got back from work very tied and sleepy but i did not procrastinate. I kept at it.

One Sunday morning, i got out to go to church. While I was in church, there was an urgent call for a song and they called me to play the song with my guitar. Fortunately, it was part of the songs i scored some days ago.I played the piece perfectly.

Here Is My Short Story Entry For; A Stitch In Time Saves Nine

Raji and Gbenga had just completed their mandatory youth service at Nsukka, Enugu State and were back in Lagos to face the real world.

After a wasteful three months at home Raji and Gbenga received job offers, which they started immediately.

Raji was lucky to have secured a job in a reputable oil company while Gbenga was given an opportunity to work in the civil service.

The old life of being wasteful and careless had not left Raji one bit as he frequently squandered his huge paychecks on women, clubbing and frivolous shopping spree. Anything money could buy, Raji did not deny himself of it.

Somehow, Gbenga whose paycheck was significantly small disciplined his appetite while finding worthwhile projects to invest in.

Due to excessive recklessness and little regard for work ethics Raji often ran into trouble at his workplace. Things turned soured, the company was downsizing and only top staff would be retained by the company. The news caused quite a stir.

Unfortunately, Raji was fired from work. He had a car loan to repay, a house rent and a baby coming, suicidal thoughts slowly creeped in when he thought of how indebted his lifestyle has left him.

...He was inside his office while the newly recruited nurse rushed in without knocking, it's an emergency Doctor Henry; the nurse shouted and hurried out with immediate effect.
Henry so got used to his job to the extent that he took the word "emergency" as no big deal, what a lazy doctor he had become! He stayed back to finish the episode drama he was watching right on the television screen in his office. I should be done in thirteen minutes time, he said to himself.
When he was done, he was coming down the stairs majestically and he saw his house maid standing by. Before asking any question, the housemaid shouted that his wife is in the emergency room.
Hurrying towards the emergency room, the nurse came out and told the doctor that the woman is dead without knowing it was Doctor Henry's wife.
No helping hand because it was a night duty, the first aid injection that would have helped the woman was unavailable not knowing Doctor Henry had a pack of it left in his office.
That was how one bad sown seed(procastination) of Doctor Henry grew to an unwanted weed. He lost his pregnant wife.

DEFEATING DEATH

A middle-aged gentleman having first class job in a multinational company, Mr.Peterson, was having mild chest pain for some days.He would work from 6 in the morning to 10 at night without moving an inch from his computer table which made him gain an appreciable amount of weight .Being too busy with his work,he ignored small things happening to his body now and then.
One fine morning when Mr.Peterson was heading for his office ,he again felt mild pain around his chest. He had to reach his office by 6 a.m. and it was already 5:45 so had a dilemma in choosing between office and hospital.Without any delay,Mr.Peterson chose going to the hospital. The doctor advised some investigations which showed that he had very high level of cholesterol that had blocked some major blood vessels supplying his heart which would make him suffere a major heart attack if he had not consulted on time. The doctor prescribed few medicines, exercise and diet control which he said could fully reverse the condition back to normal. He appreciated him for preventing a major accident by timely consultation that shows "a stitch in time saves nine."

MY ENTRY

Udosen's myopia couldn't allow him concentrate in class. His luck was sitting close to Emem who happened to be a good writer.
This was Udosen's first time sitting at the back seat in class and it was now he observed this form of myopia.

On his way home after lectures, he came across a crowd, when he enquired what the population was for he was informed of a free eye service and offering of lenses to students with eye problems. His friend Emem insisted that he runs a test and gets a lens.
Udosen claimed he'll do that another day saying, "There are so many days in a week dude!"

On getting home, he informed his parents about his myopia and they told him the cost of lenses and he saw the impossibility of getting one.

On getting to school the next day, sitting at the front seat, Udosen observed his sight was worse than that of the previous day.
immediately after school, he speedily went to the location of the eye test and to his surprise the test was over!
Who was going to help him out financially.
Lens was expensive and his parents couldn't afford that!

The loud sound of a car horn honking awakens the man, wait it can’t be sunlight creeping through the window. Rolling over only to see the alarm clock is flashing, oh No the power had gone out and reset the alarm-clock, now he will be late for work. With no time to shower he runs into the restroom to relieve himself, splashes cold water into his face and throws on some new clothing. Out the door he races jumping into his car, speeding off to work.
The school bus just left its second pickup of the morning, children are talking and laughing, the bus driver hums a happy tune. Then a large truck speeding through an intersection loses control of the wheel for just a second but its long enough that it crashes right into the school bus. The children and bus driver are injured severely from the crash and need help.
Speeding and already late for work the man sees traffic up ahead, he thinks maybe he should turn around and take another route, but presses on. He approaches and discovers the bus accident is causing the traffic so he hops out his car he is a Doctor.

Long time ago, there lived two friends, Efe and Ese. Efe was a busy man who took care of his hut and farmland. He was always going to weed his farm and get palm fronds to fix his leaking thatched roof for the coming raining season.

Ese was very carefree about his farm and hut. He spent all his time gisting, playing games with other neighbours and sleeping. Many times Efe told Ese “please weed your farm land it is has grown lots of weed and also try to repair your roof, the rain is soon to come.’’
“You worry too much for little things that can be done in a day, my friend. I can get them done in a snap of the fingers.” Ese would say.

As time went by, the weeds in Ese’s farm grew taller. One day it started raining heavily. It was then that Ese realized that his farm land and house was in danger.
While Efe sat in his hut, Ese was busy weeding his farm under the rain after he had managed to repair his roof. Ese realized his foolishness and promised never again to postpone any work that required immediate attention.

Ada failed a course during in first year in the university. She was not an unserious student and she actually did study hard for the exam but she didn't pass. She applied for a remark but she was also advised to register to resit the exam in her second year peradventure her remake didn't work.

She was very confident of her result and she was afraid of the extra work load so she refused the advice. While writing her semester exam, her remarked result was released and to her amazement she failed again!

At that point it was too late for her to register and rewrite the paper so she was stuck with waiting for the next year. Unfortunately for her, the third year didn't give her the opportunity to write the paper because she had to go for internship.

Final year came and she wrote the paper only for her to fail again. This automatically gave her an extra year in school, a situation she would have avoided if only she listened earlier.

A STITCH IN TIME SAVES NINE

It was the 10th of August year 2014, I resided around Lagos, I had just finished secondary school, and I had no intentions of furthering my education anytime soon. I attended parties, womanized, I gambled alot and I was gradually forgetting who I was, and I was becoming a serial alcoholic and womanizer.

Bayo! It was my mom, and I hated the sound of her voice, as she always told me about studying for impromptu examinations. I hated the fact that she doesn't understand I don't want to have anything to do with school again. After much persuasion from her, I decided to start studying physics and chemistry again.

Hello! It was my brother on the phone, and he was telling me about a scholarship examination into MIT for science oriented students. I have been studying for almost a year against my own will, and here I was writing a scholarship examination, where everything I had studied was right in front of me, and when the results were out, I passed, and was awarded the scholarship, my mom came to congratulate me, as I thought to myself, "In truth, a stitch in time, saves nine"

Emeka walked into the 5-bedroom building, proud of his achievement. It wasn’t everyday a young man erected a building in Lagos. He’d won a major contract years ago and used the proceeds to build.

He entered, alongside Junior, his 9-year-old son who he’d picked from school.
Junior collapsed on the sofa and proceeded to take off his shirt.

“Young man, do not literally the living room with your clothes”, he chided. “Take your bath and keep your school things neatly for tomorrow?

“Aww dad,” Junior grumbled, but complied.

Halfway, he stopped, staring at the wall. “It’s getting bigger, dad. “He announced. “It looks bigger than it did last week.”

Emeka looked up briefly, then returned to the newspaper. “I’ll get it looked at next week.”

The complaint had been ongoing for a few months but nothing changed. So no one expected the torrential downpour that came later that night, accompanied by spine-tingling lightening and thunder. No one also envisaged that the house would come crumbling down.

Later, after the evacuation team had rescued them, Emeka held his lifeless son and wailed heart-wrenchingly. If only he’d listened, his son would be alive. A stitch in time definitely saves nine.

A stitch in time saves nine?! Tah! Nonsense! What you don’t know cant harm u… I don’t need to know my HIV status.
No matter how many times I advised her otherwise, she always said that. Knowing how sexually active she was, and the kind of guys she was involved with, I could almost see it written on her face…HIV/AIDS.
I believed she knew it too, but was too afraid to confront it…she had this weakness that’s just unexplained… reinfections were so frequent, it was unusual when she didn’t have a complaint.
I couldn’t stay quiet any longer, if you don’t care about your health, fine, but you are not gonna go about infecting people. I was ready to have her wheeled to the hospital when I went to talk to her…
As soon as I knocked on her door, she opened without the usual hesitation. Tears in her eyes, I’m so sorry it took this long, I’m ready to know my status… a stitch in time really saves nine…she said. I was happy, at least I didn’t have to wheel her.
Test result came out… she was NEGATIVE… she just had a re-infective type of malaria… p. vivax.

I knew my weakness was math. I tried, but every time I picked it up to study, well, that was the moment the sun became so beautiful, or the silver lining in the clouds magnificent. So as you expect, I just toss it away and day dream… that was way more fun.
I wouldn’t bother reading until my mum yelled at me, even at that, I’d just pretend to be studying…lying to everybody. Well, this went on for the entire term, and was time for the CA tests. Well, I just have a few topics to go over and have a crash course…study all night and I’ll be fine.
Yeah, that totally worked…since day1, just had that one night stand and the exams were passed. Finally, WAEC was here, it doesn’t matter, I have a strategy that never failed me before… I prepared vigorously for the exams… except math of course.
Exams came, math came, it was cumbersome, but did it. Everything I studied came out… but just couldn’t figure out how to go about them. I didn’t practice repeatedly. My result’s all As and Bs…but I can’t get into the university because I had an F in math.

She cried back to the room, Luma rushed to her, Tonyi why are you crying, please talk to me as she shook her gently but tonyi cried helplessly, I wished I had listened to you when you told me to go, Go where? She asked. Oh no! Don’t tell me you did not get the money from your uncle. Yes I did not, oh no! She shouted, you mean he was not at home, He was, she said. The security said he left for his flight 5 minutes before I came, a car broke down at the bridge just close to yankan bridge and there was traffic and my phone battery was flat. But I told you to go earlier because he stays alone and would not want to drop that money with anybody because they might not give you, I told you! I did! She said angrily and you know he was our last hope of getting the school fees, you insisted that it was too early that you will like to hold on a bit, now look, you were caught up in traffic, this is a lesson to teach you that a stitch in time saves nine.

Smith is a 300 level student in the university. One day he came back from lectures and felt slight headache and dizzy, he taught to himself maybe it is stress so he ignore it. After sometimes the symptons showed up again a bit more severe forwhich he told his roommate emeka about it who advice him to go for check up but he refuse; smith taught to himself how he will miss his lectures time and study time to go for check up. The symptoms kept coming in different ways and ignoring it till oneday the sickness kept him down, emeka had left the room very early that day. The sickness had escalated and cause complication. Emeka came back in the evening, saw smith on still on bed since morning, had to rush him to the health centre where he was admitted hospitalize for weeks. He couldn't attend lectures for those weeks. The sickness nearly caused him his life. When he finally recover he had to come and do extra work in other to catch up those weeks of lectures he had missed to make it in his exams.

Diana worked in a supermarket as a cashier, always arrived very early before opening the store, while waiting for her time of entry she stayed in the office with her bosses and watched as they did the administrative work, she told her colleagues to enter with her to learn, but they preferred to wait in the dining room. Each time his knowledge became broader just by observing and sometimes asking.
One day her guard chief was ill and there was no one to do the office work, Diana offered to do it and she did it excellent. Then there is a vacancy for the position of boss, she immediately presents with several colleagues, Diana is the one chosen for the position, because she already knew how the work worked in the office as well as with the public.

When the voyage began, twenty were on board. Their destination: a distant planet in the Andromeda Galaxy. The transport vehicle embodied the most sophisticated interpretation of the space-time continuum. If everything went as planned, they would reach their target in two years.

After one of those years had passed, a glitch was discovered. Data had been incorrectly adjusted. The miscalculation created a gap in the space-time continuum. It was through this aperture that they began to lose crew members. First Juan disappeared. Sophie was next. The losses mounted. They were now down to nine. Unless Anna, the captain, could manage a fix, they would all perish.

Anna rejected the data from which the trajectory of the journey had been determined. After close examination, she realized the flaw was in the engineer's perception of time. She worked quickly, came up with what seemed to be a remedy. Their lives depended on this. She corrected the underlying data, and essentially stitched the gap between time and space.

Using her intergalactic communication system, Anna reported back to earth, "We lost eleven, but a stitch in time saved nine".

Story About A Man Who Lost His Son

A certain man named Chinaza had a son Ikenna, Ikenna was like a prince to his father because he was the only child he had. Chinaza was a very wealthy man, he was a business man who did importation and exportation of goods. He bought all the shares and assets he could lay his money filled hands on, just to make sure that his son Ikenna does not lack anything in life. Ikenna was the best in his class.

When Ikenna was about to apply for a university abroad, his father asked him "Son what are you going to study in the university?" Ikenna boldly replied "Accountancy". His father rebuked him in anger and said to him "If you are travelling out to study, you have to study Business Administration". Ikenna became angry but he had no choice, so he studied his father’s choice.

After finishing with a first class and not happy about his choice of course, he went back home gave his father the certificate and left. Days after they found his body floating on a river after he had posted on his facebook page “your choice isn’t my choice”.

This was the eleventh office Kola had left today without meeting the Human resource personnel, every receptionists after reading his Curriculum vitae had told him there was no job,how possible?
Kola had graduated with a second class upper division from a prestigious University in his country and has thought that the jobs would be waiting at his beck immediately after he served his country, that was three years ago.
Life had become unbearable for him, mama Tolabo would have helped him last year if he had a skill, but Kola only knew his mathematics and physics, was that not all that was required?
As Kola left the office,he bumped into Emeka, his classmate at the University, was this not the Emeka who would always miss classes for seminars? Who graduated with a third class?
Kola immediately asked Emeka if he was seeking for employment in the firm too, what else could it be?Emeka wasn't bright, but Emeka smiled and told him he was the Director of the firm, that he got employed immediately after service because of the Project management skills he had.
Emeka was such a lucky whimp, how he wished he had got a skill also, a stitch in time would have saved nine,Kola mused aloud.

She knew she was intelligent, no one doubted that. Everyone knew what she was capable of intellectually, she was good. So, when her colleagues where running helter skelter to prepare for their professional exams, she just smiled to herself, "I don't need to stress myself, this is not the first time I am writing this exam". She thought

It was her sixth year in medical school, so far, she had been nothing short of amazing, coming tops in all her exam. There was nothing to worry about, she was going to thoroughly cover her books a week to the exam, like she had done before. But unknown to her, the universe had a different plan. One Sunday morning, she started feeling a slight headache, she brushed it aside, thinking it was just stress but it persisted. That slight headache metamorphosed into a full blown fever. She couldn't study like she planned to. Three weeks later the results were released and she failed woefully. Had she prepared earlier like her colleagues, it would have been a totally different story. She had no one to blame but herself. A stitch in time saves nine.

He woke up very early, observed routine exercise, brushed his teeth and took his bath, Yeah!! John is ready for the day’s work
On this fateful day, John was seen at the train station waiting to catch a train. Meanwhile John received call from his boss yesterday to bring his previous promotion letter the next day, his boss emphasized that he should put it in the bag so that he will not forget.
John trusted so much in his abilities to remember things, and did not bother himself. He could have at least remembered at the train station and return home. Poooohh!!! It was the train which conveyed him to his office.
When he got to the office the first thing his boss asked was the letter, that was when he realized he forgot to take it along. John’s boss was very angry with him and he lamented he wanted to submit the letter to his superiors to process John’s promotion, an opportunity which he just blew with insensitivity.
John could have been promoted but he blew it because he did not do what he was suppose to do at the right time. A STITCH IN TIME SAVES NINE.

Nine Stitches Cliff
By: Rickie O. Pauley (a.k.a. @Lymmerik)

I woke this morning to the sound of birds chirping outside my open hospital room window. Clearly, I was given another day. Nothing could have been more apparent to me, in this moment, as to have looked before I leapt from the cliff. Joe, on the other hand was less fortunate than I, but I digress.

“Where is Joe?” I asked Sarah. “My head hurts.”

“Sweetie…” she began, “Joe landed on the rocks just below the…”

“Stop, just stop!”

We had jumped a thousand times from the old buttress above the sea. We had not considered the tide yesterday; it was low.

“You should be glad you jumped further out than he did. All you got were nine stitches in your head and a torn rotator cuff.”

“I saw his foot slide in the algae as he jumped, I ran faster; that’s all I can remember. Oh, Joe, I am so sorry.” I turned my head away from Sarah as a tear welled in my eye.

I tried to get him to wait for me so we could jump at the same time, but as it goes, I hesitated and lived. Joe did not.

Thank you for taking the time to read my ramblings!
@Lymmerik

Nobody could do the dance move, it was a routine that had won the trophy for the Australian winners three years in a row. Tunde had learnt it and mastered it, he was going to teach it to his team members, but the routine they were doing now was a pretty good one, besides the competition was two months away.
"I have all the time in the world, so vigorous preparation wouldn't be necessary for now". Tunde thought to himself.
He knew the dance routine like the back of his hand, the other contenders won't know what hit them.

He was supposed to teach the routine to the dance crew but he put it off till later. So they carried on with their normal dance routine, it was a very good one and could make them winners of the annual dance competition.
After perfecting their normal dance routine, a two weeks to the competition, Tunde decided to teach the new dance routine to his crew, but the routine was difficult and dangerous, few of them dislocated their legs which led to an eventually loss. What they had trained for, they couldn't get it because of Tunde's procrastination.

I like to see your post your post is very interesting and unique

John walked up to me with a puzzled look.
"What is the matter this time?", I asked.
"The Landlord threatened again", he replied facing the floor.

It was quite an unfortunate scenario. John had used his house rent to pay for a Anita's school fees.
He was her elder brother and he was left with no alternative, as they were orphans trying to make ends meet.

I understood with him, only that I wondered why he hid it from me since.
I was his girlfriend,I was supposed to know.
Where in the world did he think I would get money for him from immediately?

Three days later he called telling me his belongings were thrown out of the house.
I apologised and consoled him.
He explained he didn't want to bother me then.

"John, learn to tell me things on time", I scolded.
He heaved a sigh of relief and thanked me.
"A stich in time saves nine", I replied as I dropped the call.

The lost flight

In 1995, I was on military service. Although I always fulfilled my activities, I did not plan my things, something extremely important for a military man. One Friday I left on leave, and without authorization to leave the state, I flew to my hometown. I didn’t worry about buying the return flight, I thought that on Sunday I could buy it.

I was very happy sharing with my family, since I had not seen them for several months. My father, somewhat worried, commented on the return flight and I only answered: "Do not worry, on Sunday we’ll solve". The return flight would departed at 4 pm, and I would arrive at the military base at 5:30 pm, enough time because I would enter before 8:00 pm.

On Sunday I arrived at the airport at 3:00 p.m., and my surprise was that the flight was advanced by 2:00 p.m. I got another flight at 7:00 p.m., but I arrived at the base 2 hours late! I was arrested for 1 month. That experience taught me to plan, and from that moment everything I can do at the moment, I do.

Jeyco was a rebellious and bad-humored boy, one day at the bus stop he spent hours and hours and could not catch the bus to the university. There were many people and he was late for his exam and he returned home. (It happened for several days) annoyingly said that nothing was useful in this world. His parents talked to him, it was not easy because he ignored them. They tried and said, son you can not walk through life with that attitude, we must adapt to many things, not everything is as we want. Today you could not get to the university, but maybe tomorrow. And you know how? Getting up with the best energies so things will go better. Get up earlier to arrive on time, Jeyco the next day I wake up with desire and although it seemed that I do not listen to them, if he did, he got up early and went to the stop. Although I hope so, he was able to arrive on time for his class. If he had listened to his parents, today he would not have delayed exams and would be a boy with enthusiasm to life.

It was Sunday again,my most dreaded day,i knew I would be called upon to read the scripture again, why pastor Jude would always call upon me to read for mass after those series of disappointment was beyond my understanding.
As I stood in front of the mirror to arrange my headgear,my mind flashed back to when I never had any thought for the next day, I could remember vividly how I would ditch classes to go and play in the stream with Tolu, our trick was simple, we would put our clothes in our bags while we dressed up in our uniform, and leave for school,we would never reach the schoolyard,For we would change into those clothes and off we would zoom to places I can't even recall even if I try to, Tolu was dead now, Now I am to face the repercussions of my folly alone.
The village priest had caught us once and sat us down, giving us lectures of how important it is to do things at the right time for we might never have the chance to do them again.
Today,I wished we had studied that times when we had time.

THE INTERVIEW

Two friends went for an interview, one dressed as an elite and the other dressed as a stud.

Before the interview began both of them were briefed that they are allowed to tentatively skip a question if they don't understand

The elite went in first. The interviewer collected his cv and ask him to write something on the board. He hesitated and wrote "Java"

Then came the turn of the stud guy, he was asked to write something on the board. He quickly wrote the word 'something' . That was how he got the job before the elite came to his senses.

Moral of the story:
The elite had the opportunity but he was not clearly in the same context as the interviewer as his brain didn't process the information when it was needed

While the other guy didn't belch at the opportunity. He gave the right answer and he was duly rewarded.

Hence we can say a STITCH IN TIME REALLY SAVED A NINE for him because ordinarily the elite was the favourite for the job.

How did Paulina's husband get my number? But she wears no wedding band... So she wants to kill me abi? Brume thought.

"darling, you are awfully quiet; is there any problem?" Cherish asked from the bedroom.

"Everything is fine." He replied. How did he even know of the others? Has he been stalking me? His eyes widened. He parted the window blinds and peered into the watchful night.

"darling won't you come to bed?" Cherish's voice came again.

"Soon darling." He replied, deleting numbers from his phone.

A tree branch scraped the roof and he jumped and rushed to the bedroom.

Cherish covered her mouth to stifle the laughter as she picked her phone and texted;

it worked. He will never look at another woman again. I have ended that nonsense just in time. A stitch in time does save nine. She sent the message and raised her head to see Brume at the door.

"Darling come to bed. Are you still going to that managers conference in Portharcourt?" She asked, as she raised the bed covers on his side.

"I am not going anywhere." He replied; she smiled.

As a final year student my country was introduced to ponzi.

source

I had my fees for the session when the temptation came knocking. 30% profit was the bargain  MMM promised, but the school policy was clear: late payment attracts a 50% charge.

In my dirty mind, it was easy to calculate that before the time would elapse, I would have made an extra 120% off the cash, so I took a nose-dive,  jumping into the process, forfeiting my tuition payment.

It turned out well at first raising me 60% profit. A little later than I had invested the whole sum heaven broke loose. The vice-chancellor became badly ill and with a new personnel came a new policy.

Students were given just one week to remit fees.

With all my cash stocked with the crash of ponzi, I was thrown into disarray with an option to repeat final year which wasn’t likely. I sold my laptop, PSP and my sound system, losing the money I invested in ponzi and remaining awfully bitter:

I refused to pay the little sum when I had the chance, only for me to lose out on the bulk without an option.

Threatening news of rampant fire outbreak filled the ambulance. Dry leaves caused by long dry season make the nearby bushes and wood highly inflammable. The grasses of savanna in the Nigeria Middle belt and far North became the hunting field of teenagers who make bush fire there makeshift hunting dogs.

The frequent mishap of fire incident caught Nwiboo like sudden attack of malaria fever. What to do to safeguard his newly completed bungalow in the heart of the grassland robs him of sleep. Thoughts struggle in Nwiboo why he's big eyeballs gaze motionlessly into the naked horizon. "Honey, food is ready", Nwanyimma, the wife of Nwiboo announced with a respectful sobreno tone. It was as if she spoke to a statue. Getting closer Nwanyimma romantically hugged the husband and inspired, "What is the matter, my beloved you look devastated". Like one suddenly woken up from it from a dreamy siesta Nwiboo turn to the wife and explained his worry over the bushfire around his new mansion. He was planning and arranging the fencing to cut off the bushfire. Because as the popular saying goes, "A Stitch in Time Saves Nine".

Yesssss!

It is a worrisome episode that calls for pity and tears. This young girl failed her recent examination due to feverishness. She does not become sick until four days to examination when it is difficult to manage any situation.

“Is it a projection or evil attack? Or is it spell that is catching our daughter?” the father pondered aloud.

A diligent search for solution seized the attention of the parents. The study habit of their daughter Precious was carefully examined to unearth the source of her debilitating ordeal. How she reads, when she reads, how long she sleeps and her eating habits were carefully cross-checked. The hobbies that occupy Precious at leisure moments were also monitored. The findings proved that Precious misses her breakfast most of the mornings and still treks for over one kilometre to her school on empty stomach. Again she spends more time watching television, preying on her time and health. She would want to cover up losses of time and effort by overstretching herself few days to the examination. The outcome is often ill-health and failure. She breaks a long-standing principle that "a stitch in time saves nine".

It was an ugly sight which does not deserve a recall nor demand frequent mention. How can grown-up people in a whole kindred be spreading faeces every here and there like babies? Some of the adults litter the pathway to their family general latrine with watery excrement. The most pathetic case was a youth who messed up his new jean trousers with stool and vomit at the same time.

Shouts of cholera in the nearby market made Ofemmiri village dreaded like a black cobra snake. People stopped fetching water from the streams and bore holes within the vicinity. Nobody wanted to be connected with cholera epidemics. Pregnant women, nursing mothers and little children were strategically evacuated from the village to safer homesteads within the Local Government Area. All primary and nursery schools within the village went on an impromptu vacation. All tenants living in the residential quarters fled from their abode to avert shameful infection.

Health Clinic in the village begin educating passersby and occupants in the neighbouring villages about preventive measures against spread of cholera. They employed local means of publicity like the town criers. You may ask why: A Stitch in Time Saves Nine.

As they returned home from the state library, thoughts of the recent HIV awareness campaign which took place in their school occupied Musa and Mustapha. "Have you known your HIV status?”Musa asked his friend. Mustapha was surprised to get the unexpected puzzle.

“Why do you remind me of HIV screening? Do I look like someone about to pick a wife to marry?

"Wa-o-o-o-o. Do you strictly tie HIV screening to marriage? It is a reasonable practice in the health circle to arm yourself with your current HIV status. Wise men often say that, ‘A Stitch in Time Saves Nine,’” Musa explained. “Timely knowledge of a person's HIV status enables the person to update his medical prognosis. Mrs keinde of the blessed memory died from a full blown AIDS few years ago because her ailment was not noticed early enough. Many persons today live normal healthy life with HIV/AIDS by means of modern medical technology. Early diagnosis of many deadly diseases like cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, kidney and liver problems help the victim to live a little longer."

"Thanks for this edifying medical seminar." Mustapha said gratefully to his well-informed friend, Musa.

A mechanical engineering graduate had a dream of owing his own mechanical workshop after his National youth service, but due to lot of wooing at the camp on skill acquisition and entrepreneurship development program, he went learning tailoring. He found it interesting for one month and came to a spot where he remembered his dream.

In spite he had paid half of the tailoring fee. He did not let that hold him continue his apprenticeship. He knew he won't continue as a tailor after his one year service. He apparently told Tom the owner of the fashion home that he is qutting.

Tom persuaded him to continue that tailoring could benefit him tomorrow. I heard you sir; just want to continue to pursue the dream I had. He told himself when he got home that day and said: Yea! Am the man, stopping what I don't believe, in spite of what I have put in. Had to stop now so I don't see it as waist of time tomorrow when I start running my workshop. Friends blamed him for that decision he took but he didn't blame himself, rather he told his friends; a stitch in time saves nine.

A man, his wife and three kids moved out of the city to live in the mountains. One day the man went out to hunt while the children were playing a few yards in front of the house. When it was time for lunch, the mother called the children in to pray before they ate. The children were reluctant to come in but they obeyed and came in. Minutes after they sat down at the table, they heard a huge crash outside. Rushing out, they saw that a big rock had fallen on the exact spot the children had been playing at. If they had still stayed outside playing, they would have all been crushed.

A huge part of this story is the virtue of obedience, but it also portrays a stitch in time saves nine when the children came in just in time before the rock came crashing down.

UNSTITCHABLE

Living with a single parent was one of the hardest thing for mark, he regretted why he didn't do that which was supposed to be done. Mark had a father and a mother, they were ready to do anything for him just to make him happy. His mother was a doctor who was always coming late from work and his father who was a normal business man comes home after a days job and stays with his son and waits for his wife to return from work.actually at first there weren't any issues with the job and the lateness from work. But it kept repeating itself and his father was getting impatient about it. He told his wife to try and change and change her schedule but she refused since she said it was the best time to work efficiently. Mark saw the drama going on and on and since he had the love of his father and his mother ,whatever he tells them they would surely obey him. Not feeling concern about it.His mother wasn't comfortable about everything, one day she called the lawyer and the marriage was called off leaving mark growing up with a single parent

A STITCH IN TIME SAVES NINE

"Babe, i am at the usual junction, it is usually quiet tonight, please come immediately". Anita's phone went off.

Alex chuckled, knowing how Anita usually tease him and give false alarm and hope, especially that day being April 1st. He dropped the call and continued with his Fifa17 game console on his PS4.

She had earlier called, but he didn't pick up, still glued to his favourite football game; Fifa17, due to the slight argument they had about her coming over which she declined.

Around 10pm, Anita's sister; Rita, called Alex to be sure her sister has gotten to his place since she couldn't reach her. Anita left in a hurry when she noticed Alex was angry about declining to come over, she couldn't even wait for her phone to be fully charged before rushing out. Rita thought it was her flat battery so she called Alex.

Alex dropped the game console without even pressing the pause, rushed to the junction she heard Anita mention earlier, and his fear was immediately confirmed!. He saw her bag; her favourite which he bought for her, her matching shoes and phone, all on the floor.

He sat on the road in despair.

Hi, must the story be made under this post as a comment or on our blogs?

I heard my phone beep and reached for it. It was a text from Madge ltd., the company I had dropped my application last week. I prayed it would be a positive feedback. The whole job search was becoming tiring.
Hello, as a result of your application, you have been invited for an interview
Finally! I thought.
I typed a reply. It took me awhile because the top part of my phone was blind and I had to rotate my phone severally to type.
Finally, I finished. I knew I should fix my phone but, I was just too lazy to go get it fixed.
Maybe if I got this job, I would get a new phone. I thought.
On Monday morning, I quickly dressed up and reached for my phone. It refused to come on. I removed the battery and put it back, no response. No, not today not today. I did not write down the venue of the interview and there was no one to call.
I rushed to the nearest phone shop and got it fixed. It took about three hours and when it came back on, it was too late to go for the interview!

A QUALITY EDUCATION
Okoro a taxi driver has a family of eight. He loves his family, works hard to provide their needs. Okoro believes in Education. His goal and determination for all his children is an educational degree he never had. Due to the nature of his work sometimes he works round the clock during the weekends to meet up with the high school fees of N300,000 he pays for his two girls University tuition fees each session.

This month he saves for their fees but at the same time he notice that his vehicle papers (drivers licence, insurance, some other tax payments) have expired, in order to work freely he needs to renew his documents or he will face the penalty. But he can't imagine bringing N10,000 out of the money he has saved to renew his papers. He says to himself "I will rather avoid VIO and FRSC for a short while and pay the school fees then I will pay the tax, what are they using the money for self"

A month's success with his plans knowing all the routes of the vehicle officials, but unfortunately a week to the date of resumption he was caught and his car was impounded and licence was ceased.

In a vehicle he boarded from Onitsha to Port Harcourt, Mr Smitt listened to variety of interesting stories. He heard about those who specialize in cutting heads of strangers under the cover of darkness for sales to ritualists. These murderers perpetrate their wickedness with the regalia and clock of mad people in the street. In the daytime they walk about like mad people who beg for arms in the streets, but in the dead of the night their killing apparatus will surface for shedding innocent blood. Before the vehicle reached his destination Mr Smitt had received lorry-loads of interesting cum pathetic stories. The last which sent ripples of fear into his tensed nerves was the mention of monkey pox. Mr Smitt was aware of chickenpox and smallpox, but this new pox caught his attention. Fortunately for him, a retired nurse in the vehicle was explaining this new infection. According to her the monkey pox covers the victim with numerous troublesome pimples. The nurse warns everybody within earshot, "The answer to monkey pox is hygiene; wash your hand, dresses, food and cooking utensil well to keep off germs because A Stitch in Time Saves Nine."

Amah had a turbulent trip to Calabar. The journey was fraught with numerous vehicle breakdowns. From Owerri where the movement began, thick clouds of bad mechanical atmosphere were not noticed. The saloon car did not show any sign of palaver until it entered Ikwuano road on the way to Ikot Ekpene. The front tyre gradually lost the air content, becoming flat.

A vulcanizer was sought and was in sight close to a kiosk where vehicle parts were displayed for sale. The driver repaired the flat tyre and also remembered to buy an extra tyre to complement his spare tyre. The journey progressed until they entered Ikot Ekpene and branched into the road that connects Calabar.A little further the fan-belt cut and a road-side mechanic quickly intervened and restored the sanity. At Welcome to Calabar gate the back tyre burst and the dashboard showed lack of hydraulic oil in the brake system. A passerby, Mr John, sympathetically asked, “ Amah, when last did you service this vehicle”. “Series of tight schedules could not allow me,” Amah murmured.Unable to hide his ill-feeling Mr John retorted, “You invited all your palaver.A stitch in time saves nine.”

What is the deadline?

Mrs Edet's baby daughter is learning to crawl. She learns very quickly and within few days was able to move quickly. She would enter the bedroom, kitchen, veranda and even the sitting room by crawling. People who visit the home nicknamed her the family taxi due to her speed and her skill in crawling about. All times you find her inside cushioned upholstery seats. Recently she climbed into a back chair from which she fell down knocking the head on the tiled floor of the veranda. Before long she sneaked into the bathroom and was wet all over with moisture from the environment. One day she picked up a millipede and the mother quickly snatched it from her palms.

Remembering the wise words of elders that "a stitch in time saves nine" Mrs Edet made deliberate search for a day-care centre where she could drop the baby every morning before proceeding to her school, being a classroom teacher. She refused to take the risk of leaving the baby under the care of her house-help alone. This decision was applauded by her husband and all neighbours who heard about the sad millipede episode.

The once lived a tailor bird called jackie who lived on a coconut tree. Jackie always busy but took good care of his family. He would always fly in and out of his little nest, collecting grass to strengthen his nest from the approaching winter. On the same tree lived donnie the crow who was very lazy and spent most time sleeping or gossiping with the other birds in the neighbourhood.

jackie said to donnie “Please repair your nest, the monsoon is soon approaching and the heavy winds could blow it away".

“You worry too much jackie, you must learn to enjoy life. I can get it done in a jiffy, it is a small hole, donnie would say.

As the weeks went by, the hole in Donnie's nest grew bigger and bigger and it was almost falling apart. One night the came a heavy rain, It was then that donnie realised that his family was in danger.

He flew from tree to tree looking for twigs to repair his nest. Finally jackie also gave a helping hand and helped Donnie rebuild his nest. Donnie realised his foolishness and promised never to postpone any work that required immediate attention.

The people of Omar community stubbornly refused to heed all sanitary rules published on their notice board. "A Stitch in Time Saves Nine" as a rule of life was deliberately disobeyed by well-meaning adults. All tall trees near residential area were allowed to stay to the detriment of people's life. Pools of stagnant water were allowed to breed mosquito around people's houses. People locked the entrance gate to the village any day they get information about the visit of sanitary inspectors. The villagers thought that they were outwitting government security agents. In a particular visit, one sanitary personnel was thoroughly beaten by a team of youths from the village; he left the community with bruises and bleeding body. Weeks later the early rain was signalling to come. Flashes of lightning and cracks of thunders came. From nowhere violent wind pushed angrily, pulling down trees and removing weak roofs of houses. Omar village seems to be the focus of the gale; tall trees fell on many roofs. Sad news of persons killed in their homes by fallen trees embittered feelings of onlookers. People learnt in a hard way that "A Stitch in Time Saves Nine".

A stitch in time saves nine

Nelson was the most brilliant student in his class by a mile. He was the Northern Star. He was only four when his parents died in a car accident. He was their only child. Growing up was hard, he was passed from one uncle to the other.

Nelson was a goal getter. He believed man, his background notwithstanding, is responsible for opportunities he takes or misses.

After graduation, while his friends, still glued to their parents' garments, were undecided of the futures they wanted, Nelson decided to go into business. Thus, his first business was born. Over the years, he built portfolios in the telecommunication sector.

One day, he got wind of a Government contract to build new broadband and optic fibre cables across the country. He quickly assembled a management team and financiers. With their help, his company submit a bid just before the deadline.

He won the contract and was saddled with leading his country into a digital future! Contract execution went as planned, the project was the country's ever awarded biggest contract. That was his big break.

But what if he didn't take the first step? In deed, a stitch in time saves nine!

Alabi woke up one morning to find his daughter very sick.
He told his wife the little girl would soon be well and he bought some antimalarial drugs for her to use. After sometimes his wife also got sick, She started coughing. Alabi still didn't care, He was all about the money and his work.
His sister reported him to their parents and they advised him to take his family to the hospital but he ignored their advice. Soon he got sick too and was taken to the hospital where they diagnosed of tuberculosis with his wife and daughter. He was treated in the hospital till the doctor told him he could not be treated because the disease had reached a terminal stage. His wife too but their daughter was lucky.
His parents were present too and they were awed by the terrible news. The doctor then chastised them for not bringing him early and informed then that if they had done so, their lives would have been saved.
At that point, Alabi cried and said if he had known, he would have done that.
Then the doctor told them, “A stitch in time saves nine.”

I couldn't get what nature was trying to teach me until Mr. Onome (my aged neighbour) narrated his story to me. He said he was a very rich man - this made him very proud, and arrogant to everyone and, worst of all, his mother. He refuses any form of correction from his mother, and sometimes, even beats her. This misdemeanour made the mother placed a curse on him that he would have no peace. Mr. Onome neglected this - placing his peace on his wealth. His friends tried advising him to apologise, he shunned them. Two months later, one of his houses got burnt. He doubted the curse and said the disaster was a natural mistake. One year later, his doctor diagnosed that he had cancer of the blood. After spending almost all he had for treatment, it dawned on him that it must be his mother's curse. He travelled to his village to apologise to his mother, but found her dead. Till date, Mr. Onome is still suffering and even struggling to pay his rent because he had sold all his houses. On hearing Mr. Onome's story, i wept and said "A STITCH IN TIME SAVES NINE"

A STITCH IN TIME SAVES NINE
They had courted for five years before marriage and he never laid a finger on her.
Tonight was like evey other night, he had came home drunk. Jason has been jobless for close to two years now and frustration had set in. He got provoked by every little thing she said and would beat her till she lost consciousness .The man she once loved was no longer there but she hoped things would become better with time.
Anne was the breadwinner of the family but never for once made Jason feel less. She did all in her power to make him happy.
Anne woke up one morning feeling sick and decided to go see the doctor who told her she was pregnant. She could not wait to share the news with Jason...maybe this would make him quit drinking and stop hitting her, she thought to herself.
She made his favorite meal and called him to tell him she had good news hoping he would return home early but he came back late as usual and when she tried to ask him why, he started beating her again. She never got to share the news with him.
She lost the baby that night. If only she had left him earlier perhaps things would have turned out differently, she thought to herself.

As was his norm now he did not go the main school gate but was heading for the " small gate" the alternative entrance that leads straight to town and to his house. Just then He saw the last person he would have wished to see Shaggy the most feared gangster on campus who has been bugging him to join his clique until recently-
Respect man was all Shaggy said and passed with his flank men of 4.
Just then it became clear that it had worked, the last time he was stopped he gave them this addage he didn't even know where it came from...some people eat and allow the oil to be left on their mouth so people can see while others just eat, clean their mouth and even look more hungry.
At least at the moment it has worked but for how long? He has saved today which would have been the most dangerous of days because he was in school by 10pm because of an assignment but telling them off with that addage has saved the day
He softly whispered to himself truly...surely a stitch in time saves nine!!

I am so into this. On my way🏃🏃🏃

"Hi", he said to me. "Ayo."
I must have replied because he said "nice name" or something similar.
Ayo had a face that could turn one into an obsessed puppet. He also looked very familiar, but I just could not tell where I had seen him before. Frankly, I was disappointed in myself that I could forget such a demigod.

"I have been staring at you since you walked in", he said and my face turned a strange shade of red.
"It is probably the shirt. I borrowed it from my sister", I blabbed. It must have been funny, because he was laughing uncontrollably. I wanted the ground to swallow me.

"Well, I'm sure you wore it better", he joked. "Can I call you chocolate? Your skin is just...wow", he said.

Warning bells started ringing in my ears. Chocolate... chocalate...

Suddenly I remembered him. He had ruined my cousin's life. He was the one she had bragged about until he almost sent her to her grave. He had beaten two babies out of her between their engagement and proposed marriage and driven her insane

"No, thank you", I said and walked away. His shocked countenance did not deter me.

A STITCH IN TIME SAVES NINE
It was yet another Monday morning and as usual, Jack was late for work again. He ran towards the bus stop still struggling with his tie, he really couldn't care less if anyone saw him.
He stood waiting for a bus for such a long time, he thought walking might have been a better option. A cab finally stopped in in front of him and within a split second, Jack had gotten in and shut the door.
Jack explained how he needed to be at work immediately. The driver pretended not to hear a word Jack said reached for his phone and made a call in a foreign language, all the while staring Jack in the face. Jack wasn't very fluent in the language and all he could make out of what he said was 'he's in and 'it's time to move'. This left Jack very uncomfortable. A part of him wanted to get out ot the cab, which he probably should have but he consoled himself with the idea that the driver was not referring to him.
Some minutes later, two men got into the cab and the driver drove off. Jack told him where he wanted to stop but on getting there, the driver kept on going. Jack yelled at him to stop but before he could say the word,he felt something cold and metallic at the back of his head. Then it hit him...he had been kidnapped.
