Yes I agree with you

Yaa if they don't develop one day it will end soon

I think "no" because many people are still using Facebook. And every day many new people are joining this platform.

@joel0101, you said, and I quote

Fourth point, facebook never really proved that it was able to adapt to new technologies since 2008. Indeed, I wonder whether they really considered blockchain as an interesting improvement in their strategies. The latest actions leading to forbid ICO advertisement and blockchain related information proves that they are not willing to go with the new paradigm.

Facebook considering blockchain as an interesting improvement in their strategies ? Why should they ? Facebook themself cannot do such, its as if you're trying to endanger their platform. Facebook promoting cryptocurrency isn't such a good idea to them(the facebook team). Its what they should do but, they'll lose some users to the crypto world. They've lost some users like my friends and I already..lol.

When was the last time you visit your facebook page ??

Facebook ?? Can't even remember that

I agree with you, I think they have a huge problem, leaking data and losing users on a daily basis. All empires end some day and now my feed, which I very occasionally visit is full of ads and companies but no sign of friends lol

Is Facebook coming to an end?? My answer is yes!! Just that the process might be very slow. Little by little user are moving away to other platform which they think are better alternative to Facebook. As a steemians I don't think I can give my Facebook account a personal write up when I know I can post it here on steemit and gain something off the writing. It's that straightforward. Weissman reports that Facebook lost a whopping 4% of time spent on the platform in November of last year. And has lost an amazing 18% of time spent on its site in December! But it's not just Facebook. Instagram lost 9% of user time spent on the platform. AMAZING!.. User are up for better platform just like steemit or maybe the up coming sola.

Do you think Facebook will laylow and allow other platforms in the system move user away from them.

Zuckerberg also said he plans to study encryption and the blockchain “see how best to use them in our services"

People might still leave Facebook If other platform pays better.

Yes. Y should I go through the stress of uploading my picture on Facebook when I can get money when I do the same thing on sola??

Datz it ... Y should I do a writing on Facebook when I can get sbd with it on steemit.. Facebook is coming to an end

Why posting on facebook when you can post and make money from it on sola... Bro, you're a real hustler. Lol...

It's is not much of a hustle. He is just moving with the crowd to a better pasture.

Yeah bro, to a better pasture

No way Mark Zuckerberg answered the questions yesterday and today on Capitol Hill like a Boss. He made the senators seem like ignorant old grandparents. If anything I think it will only grow in size, net worth and power. Steemit can learn a lot from Facebook.

No, it is not.
Personal data was farmed since the moment phones were invented. Anyone could "farm" addresses, names and numbers with relative ease. Yes, you can "opt out" of it but, as we can see, telephone directory books still exist.

Many, too many people, do actually WANT to be farmed for the comfort and benefits it gives (in the case of Facebook, targeted ads that promote things you were looking for... yesterday... Linking you to the exact same page you've already seen).

I think this is starting to change with platforms like steemit. I think if someone can make it with a friends network (which steemit isn't) based on blockchain might in the future overcome facebook. Because facebook was made to keep in touch with friends, not to see ads and posts of companies in my opinion and that's what they fucked up. Thanks!

I think every year a new trend begins. It was MySpace to Facebook to instagram to Snapchat. Twitter and a few others made major impacts along the way. Steemit feels like that secret trend that hasn’t been made public yet. Do I think Facebook will end like MySpace did? Yes I do, but it hasn’t yet

smart reply :) The thing here in my opinion is that companies will not use steemit as they were able to use facebook...big changes!

From my point of view, Facebook could come to an end if Mark Zuckerberg and his team do not take appropriate measures to adapt to the worries of the users.

First point is that the datas are fully submitted to third parties and represents the main revenue of Facebook. Unfortunately one cannot use this media without being harassed by unwanted advertisement.

Second point a lot of people possess multiple accounts and often are submitting friendship request to scam people. Especially when it goes about dating bachelor and require money once the fish is ready to be caught.

Third point the notifications for friends activities, reaction on comments, likes on own posts and more. This is more of a distraction to people than really useful. This creates the famous FOMO syndrom.

Blockchain offers way more possibilities and I had to laugh a little while hearing Mark saying that Facebook would enable users to manage their datas, seemingly at a cost. I am not sure people would be willing to pay a charge just to secure their privacy.

On the other hand, the blockchain is developping itself step by step and my thought are that there must be a lot of pedagogy to be done in order to convince the mainstream to use a decentralized technology.

Even if Facebook makes the effort mentioned during the hearings, they will always use a centralized data system and be the owners of the users datas. Or why would a customer pay to have the right to get a warranted privacy protection? The customer can only be the owner if he get money for submitting the topic related information to a business, government, hospital or anything else.

I really appreciate that there are questions leading to reflect on the contemporary concerns.

Best regards
@joel0101

I agree with you, but I think notifications are useful if not overloaded. And also facebook didn't change the look of the site in years, it looks like a crap full of buttongsm the UX is awful! Thanks for joining and i'm glad you like the questions proposed :)

Agreed, notifications can prove useful if when not overloaded. The topic of interest must be well-chosen.
The UX design is useful, I once read that the choice for the color was due to the fact that Mark Zuckerberg cannot distinguish the colors following a specific eye dysfunction.
Obviously changes in the feature would also show that the company can fit in a new context and also to the customers / users wish.
FB will face a lot of challenges and from their response to the change of paradigme will depend its future. I guess that a lot of issues are linked to the lack of experience in their management.
As an example I can mention Google as in my previous comment and the Blockchain Technology is also drawing a lot of high profiles who want to provide their efforts to develop the structure of the future without repeating the mistake during the internet implementation.
Thanks for welcoming me I really appreciate this concept. It is also a great way to learn to know new people.

Facebook will not die in the short-term. The problem here is what is the world getting done on Facebook right now, and do better alternatives currently exist? For stuff like news and informative videos, better alternatives to Facebook certainly exist. But for stuff like online mobile social games, a true challenger to replace Facebook hasn't shown up yet. I've gone through too many games on my iPad that have constantly urged me to link up with my Facebook account. As long as games (or any other category of stuff that might be on Facebook) rely on Facebook account linking as a crutch, Facebook won't be going anywhere. Now if these big companies can be convinced to have people link to their STEEM-based accounts instead of Facebook, then society might be able to advance on the path to killing off Facebook.

For me, its a BIG NO, aside from this is the largest social media. It is also our easiest way to communicate and transact in other steemians. We creaye our group chat regarding steemit. To easily get the support of others.

You can also use discord for that, which is easier has more options and it's not bombing you with ads :) thanks for joining!

Hi @thepassenger! I really love the new placement of the link right underneath the banner, that is awesome, thank you! I really really appreciate it!

Sadly, I think Facebook will prevail for the foreseeable future. I get a lot of work via that platform which is the only reason I shall keep my account on FB.

Hi there! yes i tried, but I will need to move it somewhere below because otherwise it appears just at the beginning of the post in the description and looks kind of weird :( Also I think the THE should be moved a liiiitle down so it looks good on the miniature.

regarding facebook, yes i keep if as nostalgy haha

Hey @thepassenger, you are absolutely right.

My name shouldn't be the first thing people read and the banner doesn't look good in miniature. Please place the link where you think best. I've added some more white-space on the sides of the image.
Hopefully this will correct the issue. If not, please send me a message and I'll keep adding space until the issue is resolved. I'd rather not shrink the spacing between lines as I think it looks good as it is now. The total size of the image will seem to shrink a bit, I hope you don't mind.

I think Mark is too smart to let facebook end now. I think he will adapt to the trends now. My answer is No!

Facebook coming tomorrow ends? I don't think so. Yes, it seems like it is. I mean there are many decentralized social media apps now like steemit that pays people for doing the same thing they do freely but this doesn't put an end to facebook.

Also, with the alleged sale of users' data to companies and the current legal battles ongoing, there's been a breach of trust and many people are afraid to use facebook, however I believe facebook is smart enough to put certain checks in place so as to prevent future occurrence of such embarrassing issue.

Nevertheless, if facebook decides to relax and relent in Italy efforts to win back users which it is losing gradually then this may well be the end of the social media giant.

No! I don't think so. Facebook is the largest social media of Internet. Sir, @thepassenger this is very interesting to ask people in openly..!! Keep it up sir. Best wishes to you sir.

Definitely No! because most people around the world are using facebook by the means of communication. Most people know facebook more than other social media. Sir @thepassenger this question can critics ones mind. Keep it up sir! thank you.

I think yes. Personally, I'm the one who started leaving facebook. Although not yet to delete it permanently, but facebook pages have rarely opened since last few months. There are several reasons that make me a little bored with the social media platform. First, the emergence of various spam from users. Secondly, people who do tagging at will, like selling one then make my personal page full of info that is not interesting and not important at all. Third, the emergence of info hoax that can not be dammed at all because everyone can easily make facebook. Fourth, I do not want to be hypocritical about this. Anyone wants to reward, though the process of getting it is very difficult, as it does in steemit. Because there is no financial benefit is what might make me prefer other platforms in pouring something, either writing, photos, video, etc.

A little note, if facebook change the pattern that prevails so far into blockchain that generate new coffers for users, maybe he will be more successful again as a social media.

Agree, either they change their model and adapt...or bye!

Yes surely, though not now, will gradually be abandoned. People may not delete it permanently, but will leave it for granted. And that has an effect on the number of visits that ultimately continue to decline. I so remember how friendster interest first, but because unable to bring the better, he must close. Again, though it's slowly, but ultimately bye.

I do not think so. They are getting rough now but the end is not even in near future. Community , especially E-community is what the world thrives on and need I say survive on. Facebook provides that .

No, I don't think so because it has still the most number of users. But, at least for me it's coming to an end. I rarely check my Facebook account now. I do not have use for it anymore because when I look at my feed I mostly see fake news and I don't like it.

Same here! Thanks for joining :)

Nope. Most people now use facebook to update their status and get updates to their circle of friends. It's what mostly used to communicate. I personally dont use mobile messaging anymore since facebook messenger is a great way to message people that I dont personally know(when buying and selling things on facebook). FB Groups is a great way to connect to people with same interests. Group chat is also great tool to message people all at once. And a feasible way of advertising your businesses to the whole world!

i think facebook missed at some point the important of friends. everyone moved to whatsapp so they can talk with their friends directly without ads in my opinion. Thanks for joining!

I think Facebook will slowly lose out to more transparent platforms.

  • I think they would lose out quicker if the deep state was not in control of it. They use it to create a database about you, including facial recognition. Hitler's SS would have loved to have something like Facebook where apathetic people voluntarily give up their most personal information.
    • I used to be on Facebook hours a day. Now I check it once maybe twice a day to see if a friend or family has a birthday or are going on a trip. Now I spend hours a day on Steemit.

I personally find it hard to fathom that when my generation's kids grow up they will want to virtually 'hang out' in the same place their parents do or did.

True, I have some aunties and uncles who have Facebook accounts, but they are in no way as heavily invested as my peers. They really only log on once in a while.

Kids want to go somewhere where to be young and do stuff with their friends away from the gaze of their parents. And that's going to be difficult to do on Facebook, when the Facebook generation are their parents.

Also the idea of your kids being able to see every picture and everything you wrote when you were young seems a bit weird. Some people will say: 'yeh but my kids are like my friends, we tell each other everything.' But I think they'll be in the minority.

I think when my kids grow they be spending their time on something I've never heard of. If that happens Facebook's probably going to be in the way out.

That's my reason, I guess

I don't believe Facebook will ever end. I predict that if anything happens to FB, it will only GROW and EXPAND, and maybe even morph into something else we can't even imagine right now. I never saw Apple becoming anything like it is now, back in the early 1990s. FB may well be the same way. Of course, they would need a visionary on the same level as a Steve Jobs to blossom into the unseen end product, but only time will tell.

Yeah, every minute gets more closer the Facebook end... Steemit will be the future of social media networks

I don't need to comment long. This all I can say...

"I don't think so."

While sites like steemit will slowly take over, Facebook isn't coming to an end anytime soon. I do believe Facebook has peaked.

There're just simply too many members of Facebook for it to come to a sudden end. Nothing last forever and I believe Facebook will die a long slow death as sites like Steemit continue to improve their platforms to become the next wave of social networks.

I think a more appropriate word to describe Facebook is stuck. If it doesn't change it's current model it has no way to go but down. Introducing its own cryptocurrency ( which is rumored ) will only be a temporary band-aid that will only slow down the eventual fall. If Facebook is to survive the next generation of social media outlets and platforms they need to start rewarding content providers.

They say a picture is worth 1000 words and the below meme describes how I feel about Facebook and the new social media outlets.

There is a 0.001% chance Facebook is coming to its' end. I have a few different reason why.

  1. Because the amount of data and connections that are viable so conveniently through facebook, with their access to the mobile population which is only continuing to grow, is never going away.
  2. This data security thing will likely change technology and FB will be the culprit but these things are EASILY forgotten as you can see Apple tracking your location, target getting hacked, credit reports getting hacked....it's a matter of months before people move on (and I believe the majority of Facebook users upwards of 80% have no idea what is going on with the data breach)
  3. Money. the amount of money Facebook has from all of these people is not going away. I DO BELIEVE that Facebook will either die or advance quick enough and far enough to help instill Crypto into society. I personally have migrated from Facebook a while ago and now I only use Twitter and Steem. Facebook may die when Instagram bloggers move over to steemit...it is very possible.

nice post @thepassenger

You can use @Tisko to promote your post.

If it comes to an end, it's very, very slow. While the people like strife, swearing. ... FB will exist.
