My upvotes do not 'work' I see, although sometimes it makes the amount go up one cent. So I am guessing it's worth a fraction of a cent? Would it help if I move 4 SBD to Steem power (making 10 Steem power)?

Yes, if your voting strength (SP) is low, then only 100% voting power will add a full cent. Powering up may help. Or you can send a bid by a bid bot, there are quite a few that accept low bids (like 0.05 or 0.1 SBD), that way you could contribute more.

Thank you. I changed my settings from 50% to 100% and moved most of my SBD into SP. Hope it helps. Not touching bots for now, as I haven't got a clue what I'm doing.
