She sat down on the floor of her kitchen, eyes swollen from crying profusely. She wished she could turn back the hands of time. It had been seven months since her fiance; Ejiro passed away.
He was everything to her. When she lost her family to a plane crash, he became her family and closest friend. Nobody loved her like he did. She shouldn't have asked him to come pick her up from the motor park that day. If only she had boarded a cab, he would still be alive. What if she didn't decide to come back that day, things wouldn't be the way they were; he'd be here cooking dinner for her. She barely ate these days; food had lost its taste. She looked terrible.
For her, life had lost its meaning, there was no point living. She wished death would just wrap her in its cold embrace.
Mrs Helen walked into the kitchen to see her on the floor crying. "My daughter, enough of the crying. He was my son too. Life as we know it, is unfair; the bad and the good suffer the same fate. Don't worry we'll overcome." She said

(call begins)...
Me: Hello, Good afternoon uncle. It's Joy your niece. Udeme's daughter.
Uncle Emma: Joy girl, how are you?
Me: I'm fine. How are you sir?
Uncle Emma: I'm alright.
Me: uncle I need your help.
Uncle Emma: yes what can I do for you?
Me: I need help to pay my fees. The deadline is in a week and I have not gotten any money to pay. If I don't pay in a week, the portal is going to close and I will just have to suspend studies for this semester. You are my last hope.
Uncle Emma: (laughs hard) So now you can call me to ask for money. I thought you and your mother stopped being Jehovah's Witnesses and even changed your surname from the normal name everyone in the family bears. How am I even sure you are now in school. I don't want to have anything to do with you, your brothers or even your mom and don't you ever call my line again. Rubbish.
(call ends)...
