Here's one from this Sunday at the beach. I was shooting surf and this cute moment happened.

Nice one @rossfletcher! I'm fascinated on how many different wave / surf / beach photos you have :D

Thank you! Well i grew up near the beach and started surfing in 1968. I started taking photos before that with my parents cameras. Not all the time as i was busy running around being a kid. I have ten years of digital since i got my first one of those cameras. I really got into taking more photos then. Film and developing was very expensive. It took me a while to get used to being able to shoot practically unlimited numbers of shots - as many as you have cards for. It's crazy compared to the old days. Anyway i have at least a half a million? A million? in the last ten years. Who knows for sure? I used to delete a lot when storage was smaller and way more expensive. I've probably deleted over 100 thousand files. Not all my shots are beach and surfing but it is my main "focus" that's partly due to not being able to afford to travel since i got into digital.

Oh, i almost forgot to mention that when i'm shooting sports like surfing i'm using the fastest continuous shooting setting on the camera. A good ride can be 10 to 20 or more shots. A good day i might spend 5 or 6 hours down at the beach. It's easier to shoot everything that might be good then to try and single shot it. Haha! It's a little crazy sometimes trying to pick out a few. :)

Wow! That is very very impressive! Thanks for giving me this little inside view about your story of photography.
I really can't imagine how it was to shoot on film or super small storage. That's just so much more difficult as it is now a days with almost unlimited storage. Do you also use any Tele - Lens to do more closed up shots of the surfers? I prob have seen some closer one but not super closed if I remember right. Cheers!

Without a darkroom it really sucked! Practically no control over the developing at what they looked like at all.

I do use a telephoto but i'm not very into super tight close ups of surfers. Usually i like to show the entire wave and people on the beach in there too. I like to shoot at an angle to the beach so you can see into the wave so it's pretty long distance. It's a bit of a trade off - super tight? or show the wave more?

Yeah I understand what you mean. Makes the images more interesting the way you do it. But sure, playing around with different angles and what so ever is always good. But I'm quite sure you stood on every m2 on this beach already :D

This season i didn't get many tight close ups. I'm going to try and remember to get some next time if we get some waves.

And yes i have been on every grain of sand here. I'm feeling almost done with it sometimes. I'm really in need of someplace new

Nice shot! Thanks for participating!

I like that ! Thanks for sharing it Buddy!

Great one as always! Thanks for sharing this image! :))
