What'd you need to do?

  • It has to be in English

  • It has to be formal and easy to read

  • It has to be your own thoughts and not copied content. copied content will get flagged.

I think the latest Facebook scandal is no more than a media spin.
lots of newspapers were hurt by Facebook dominance and politicians in allegedly democratic countries fears facebook increasing social power.
so no wonder all those parasites are jumping on the opportunity to punch the media giant when he shows vulnerability.

The majority of the people don't really care whether facebook or google are collecting and possessing their personal data.
They see the personally tailored ads on their Gmail inbox accounts but they are still using it because it's free and convenient.
They share tons of personal data and give ultimate access to free apps on their mobile phones without even a blink.
the public doesn't really care but when the media is making noise he wakes up for a short time, grumbles and falls asleep again.

facebook value decreased the same way shares always decrease in times of scandals.
I am sure they will go up again unless the regulator will impose new striker regulation that will hurt the revenue Facebook is making.

What should Facebook do?
the simple and the most proven effective action in these cases is to wait until the storm passes because the public is known for his short memory

Very well said, i think :-)

There are two reasons one is need and other is the ignorance that makes us vulnerable to scams like this. Facebook was considered more secure than other social networking sites, even the confidence of users increased when whatsapp privacy policy was launched.
But one thing is clear that we must not trust any app that will ask for permission to our mobile applications. Why they need it is first place? The answer is no,they don't!! Still they will ask us, and we trust them and provide our data.
Facebook is also doing same, now the data is displayed openly and so follows the applogies. Is seems impossible how the Facebook looked big firms are hacked and data is sent to third party like the Cambridge Analytica (the firm that claims the handling of Triumph election).
I think Facebook didn't do it deliberately but the one who did is Facebook.
We must keep our mind clear that before giving permission to anyone, why someone has need to access my phone or computer, if I can interpret it, he needs my data and behavior to suck my liquidity with one way or other.
Facebook may be regrettable but the phone call details that finished the human relations will not be trusted any more!
I think the race in compitition will never end and our online data will be never safe though facebook may now consider new security features, trust has been eroded to some extent.
I think the facebook must applogise to every user and must increase the security also if anyone is involved must be punished for the same. To gain the confidence of users facebook must update the encryption policy like whatsapp do.
Most of the people believe that the data was sold by Mark zukarberg, but I personally doesn't believe because why will he axe himself for a small gain which may lead facebook ruin with time. Hope facebook comes with a solution and produce the real picture of data leakage.

The leak scandal tens of millions of Facebook user data has caused the giant this technology company to experience a crisis, this scandal being one of the biggest, and even the worst that ever experienced by the social media Facebook.

The political consulting firm named Cambridge Analytica was reportedly involved in the scandal. Because this company had worked as a campaign team Donald Trump during the election of President of the United States in 2016 ago. They are accused of using millions of Facebook user data to create a software that can predict and influence vote selection..

This company told Facebook that the data was used for research purposes, but even used it for political campaigns that support Donald Trump's victory.

Actually the data of Facebook users can be accessed by many parties. We should also know that basically social media is not a personal medium because the information that is there can be seen by many people. Therefore, if someone has personal data, then it should not be shared to social media like Facebook and other social media.

This solution is not only a liability to Facebook, but its users must also be wise when sharing their personal information to media such as Facebook.karena access to the data itself is in the hands of the users ..

Facebook will recover from this crisis from many reasons although it will take some time.
Why?
• People tend to forget.
• It is not a perfect social network but it is a very big and popular one.
• Facebook is friendly to users.
• Any other network, is also far from being the best solution and even
attract less attention if they fulfill all regulations or not.
• Each user has a lot of data inside something, he wouldn't like to lose.

However, I believe it will change, the management team has to give explanations and solutions for keeping users privacy and some of them must pay for these cases of violations.

According to us as users we have to keep in mind that our privacy will be kept but without a zero tolerance to the possibility that we will suffer sometimes from nullifications and this is the price of "enjoying" the "fruits" of the digital world and the big data.

What do you think about this crisis? what are your thoughts about the recent events? and what'd you think Facebook should do to recover from this? I mean, I know they'll recover from this no matter what, but what'd u think they should do

They should make personal changes in the management team, a different board, CEO? and publishing the action points to avoid privacy violation as an answer to the crisis.

I would have said at first Mark Zuckerberg should make a public apology to hurting facebook users but apparently he has finally done that in a newspaper ad after intentionally avoiding it and trying to bring some logic out of it. This is just the beginning of the path to regaining users' trust.

Users should feel totally secure to share their private information with those and only those they have decided to add as friends without fears of having sensitive data about them leaked. What if there's a breach or hack like that of iCloud few years ago? That left many users including celebrities feeling insecure as their "private" and "deleted" photos and more were leaked.

I think they should make all user data less accessible without the user's content. There should also be a tool in the news feed to see all third-party apps with access to member data and an option to easily block any unwanted access.

Firstly, I would like to say thank you for creating this platform where we could actually share our thoughts on this issue.

The Facebook scandal has already cost Mark Zuckerberg $10billion, and might also cost more as the Federal Trade Commission are raising a prospect to a massive fine for Zuckerberg's social network because it had entered into a consent decree in 2011 about the use of personal data and any breach of that can be punished by the regulator.

But I personally believe this happenings should be a wake up call to facebook users about their online footprint.
As it's believed that the users' that got their data copied left their privacy on.

Mark has already given an apology based on this and has also promised that such won't happen again, and one of the ways they are planning to do this is to reduce the amount of personal data apps collect from facebook users.

So I believe even as Facebook are already fixing the issue to regain the trust of their users, the users also have a part to play, as they should be more alert and careful of how they use the internet.

Thanks

The FUD around Facebook is absurd. It's actually disappointing. Here's why.

Everyone is pissed that Facebook has leaked data, whether to some marketing corp in England or about video calls being monitored. They're claiming this is a breach of trust, yada yada. The truth is that nobody should be surprised. This is all information that we've known for years. Remember Edward Snowden? Remember PRISM? ECHELON? Remember the discussion of Facebook partnering with corporations that would all trawl through the data to 'better market to your personal preferences'? Remember how Facebook sells the value of your eyesight to advertisers?

No? Don't remember? Well, what a surprise. This shit has been going on for years. YEARS. And suddenly, everyone is angry, now? The tragedy of this all is that it highlights the loss of memory, the mass ADD and amnesia of a society dependent on digital dopamine and instant-reddit-clickbait-now brains. People should have learned the truth about Facebook long ago, when we ALREADY FOUND IT OUT.

It's the CIA's wet dream.

I think this only hurts Facebook for the short term, not the long term. I don't think most people are too concerned with privacy issues, I think most people realise that Facebook is free to use so there is a trade off. That trade off is a loss of privacy for the users but they don't have to pay to use the platform.

I think we are already seeing Facebook start to mitigate the problems, with Mark Zuckerberg already issuing a statement on how the company will change and that this will not happen again.

I think that Facebook will face competition from block-chain solutions like Steemit, though Steemit is slightly different to Facebook in many ways. I could easily see a decentralised system giving users monetary reward for content and the ability to control their own data as the ultimate Facebook killer.

But as I said earlier privacy issues their own are not enough for Facebook to be toppled from the No. 1 spot and block-chains are not quite ready as yet but the clock is ticking.

R.I.P. Facebook

Facebook seems to be on the verge of implosion. Even in the past several months, there have been numerous issues regarding Facebook.

Zuckerberg announced that advertising for cryptocurrencies was strictly forbidden. This felt like a "baby with the bathwater" situation where he has tarred all cryptos with the same brush. It is hardly worth speculating how long it will be before steemit posts are no longer allowed on Facebook. What is Zuckerberg afraid of?

He also announced improved measures against spam on Facebook. This seems to have ushered in a period in which ordinary comments on friends' posts are erroneously declared to be "spam" by Facebook's over-zealous spambots.

This latest scandal is just the latest development - and the one which has my own mother pulling things down off of Facebook as quickly as possible - in preparation for the day when Facebook dies. She was asking me who is the replacement?

I genuinely don't know.
In my own research, I have discovered that the teenagers and young adults (the original target audience) are no longer signing up for Facebook, preferring Instagram and SnapChat instead.

As great as Steemit is, it isn't really a replacement for Facebook. Steemit has a different niche, different purpose, different role.

What can Facebook do?
To be honest, I really don't know. Maybe redevelop the whole thing and launch a Facebook 2.0 with an easy migration. But I really do think that Facebook's days are severely numbered now.

Who is going to rise to replace Facebook? Only time will tell, but I think the death knell has already played the dirge for what was the "place to be" - Facebook.

Zuck me once, shame on you. Zuck me twice, shame on me.

Facebook should fix user data and store it securely so no more abuse as it happened recently, I'm sure if user data can be secured, then the user's confidence will be re-earned as before..

Such scandal is detrimental to the growth of facebook because it erodes investors confidence in the company. What facebook needs to do is take measures such as punishing those culpable or firing/hiring to show users and investors alike that it still means business.

Facebook is another social media that promised to protect it's user privacy and from the event of getting scammed. Unfortunately, at the end of the day those are just selling strategy. There CEO is a good promoter that sells lies and mislead consumers. Therefore, facebook is just another ponzi scam with a goal of making profit...money... money... money...

I think i like messanger

No doubt, confidence on Facebook has dropped, which i see will take time long regain by users. The impact on her share is obvious. Though, I think there is a conspiracy aside the US-Russian saga. Recall there is rumor that facebook want to launch it own crypto. Should this happen, how do you think the impact will be on existing cryptos like Bitcoin? therefore the challenge facing Facebook could go beyond what it is right now.

Please read the contest and what it's about before commenting.

Facebook drops by 15% because Facebook does not have social Facebook Facebook specifically for the community but for the society Facebook is now there is no social even Facebook wants to find for himself because Facebook is not a service that is trusted by the public now most Most people run to other applications because Facebook is taking advantage for himself sociality on Facebook there is no yes that people run to other networks because he is a lot of fraud in the Facebook network Facebook users there are complaining.

Hello good afternoon I hope you are well, personally I think this scandal of Facebook will affect it greatly, as many users trusted that their data would be protected and then arises this problem that were used for election campaigns, Which is even more serious, it will be difficult for people to take this network again seriously. Mark Zuckerberg apologized but I do not think it is enough, in addition to all the losses and campaigns against Facebook and its elimination.
To be honest I have no idea what Zuckerberg should do to fix the error. Personally I do not use Facebook but I prefer a thousand times steemit, best platform in the world.

Thanks for the opportunity.

Best regards.

Scam or not scandal always go to see problem of tell me and say on facebook in something that if I am very sure that the scandals the numerous users do not care if they are or not scammed by the facebook system or service as they call it the truth that It is a very popular form of silver and so it is for nonsense or communication from friends who are far away, since it is more merchant and seeks to call the company that publishes about their products so they can sell or pay that price to facebook.

Because of this people tend to see the opportunity to bring people to steemit thats good in my opinion but some just want facebook to die
I dont like that idealogy sonce firstly there are many great functions and user friendly user interface in facebook it is easy to use and bring people together it is so much easier to communicate there then any other app its convinent too the facebook scandal hit facebook hard but i belive facebook will recover because we are human we forget and i belive it doesnt harm us that much... data collection? It happends everyday to all of us but why are we scared?
Information! It helps us to improve it let others conduct research to promote a good cause
Facebook collects data it may give you ads depending on your perference im mean how can an ad harm you
I mean data collection... have you ever been harmed? I mean personality did it harm you please tell me i would like to know give me your insight i would also want to know what otgers think about data collectio

In my opinion, they should reduce their greed, by giving a little reward for the users, either people who post or people who like.

coye no se porque no vi nada y me gusta ser sincero no me gusta inventar cosas que no e visto esta es mi respuesta disculpen

I don’t think it will hurt facebooks overall objectives and bottom line they are far to big to be taken down by one scandal it won’t be long before it’s forgotten and people really don’t care there data is being sold as long as they can get their dopamine hit from online attention! Facebook is a lowest common denominator platform and will continue to grow until some sort of disruption happens or a complete paradigm shift in consumer behavior on the internet
