Where Is Your ‘Locus Of Control’?

Where do you put control of your life?

Do you feel as though your fate is largely being determined by external forces?
Or do you feel that you control your own destiny?
Psychologists refer to this as ‘locus of control‘: the extent to which you believe that you can control events that affect you.

Your ‘locus’ (Latin for ‘location’) is conceptualized in either of the following ways:

Internal: you believe you have (a certain degree of) control of your life, where you take responsibility for your thoughts, feelings, decisions, and actions and their impact on your life.
External: You believe your decisions and life are controlled by environmental factors that you cannot influence.

Research has shown that those with an internal locus of control tend to be happier, less depressed, and less stressed compared to people with an external locus of control.

This alone will greatly enhance your experience of reality, let alone the one you’ll create!

In this context, I thought I’d share the video below – it provides a useful, easily understandable, and above all empowering take on life.

It may not be the “ultimate truth”, but it does give you a pragmatic model that allows you to deal with any potential challenges, put things into perspective, and greatly enhance your ability to reach your full potential.

It’s a great place to start building ‘internal locus of control’…

For now, take a look at the video below: Don’t forget to share and/or leave a comment if you feel inspired to!).
