Im working in one private nursing home as chef. Im not a professional cook i don't have no papers of education for that, i have self thought cook some average vegan cooking skills. But for me its OK, enough. When i was working in Health and Lifestyle center in Latvia i learned the cooking skills, i was preparing food with teem for 200, 300 people in various events, conferences and meetings. I was invited by someone from my church members to attend the opening of that same nursing home. There i found out that someone has recommended me as a cook to the director of NH(nursing home) so me and my beautiful wife decided to change the location where we lived to that place. I was exited starting new job. I worked there for 6 months some times 5-6 days a week 12-13 hours a day cooking 3 meals a day for 15-25 people washing dishes after them. Situation was that i got minimum wage for that work. And that was because the NH was young and could not pay more. So nobody wanted to come work there for that kind of wage. You have to understand that im not complaining i like to serve people helping them i am just sheering the situation of my country. So mostly i worked alone and during thous 6 months i found apartment in next by city so we moved to that flat, but with that our costs increased. Our car kept falling apart every month and we could not buy new one. That forced me to go to work abroad to Norway. There i felt like normal person, working normal hours and getting payed normal wage. But that was difficult to be apart from my wife for 6 months. When i returned back i was thinking what to do, but i was asked from that same NH to come help them in kitchen, i agreed but realized that nothing much has changed, wage is little bit higher and at least i have assistant to help, but she is pregnant and soon will leave. At least i have 4 days working and 3 days of. So may point is that if you are called to serve people don't hope on big wage if you are ok with that then continue to work. But if you have family to care for better choose another profession. Because working in nursing home takes lots of energy emotional and physical to deal with all the stress . I don't know maybe not everyone can handle this kind of work im just saying that its much undervalueated looking how much effort and energy and creativity is inserted. Cooking is a form of art and if you undervaluate this art it gets bad, poor taste and does not look good. I want to make people happy to make people smile with what I am doing. Please be your self in what ever you do in life. If you want you can share your work experience and send me a link to your post. Thanks for reading and sorry for my English its not my native. Keep safe, God bless
