KitchenAid KFE5T Flex Edge Beater for Tilt-Head Stand Mixers

in cooking •  7 years ago

I know, I know. This seems like a stupid thing to review. But it isn't. This thing is a awesome, every married couple gets a KitchenAid mixer.

The problem is they come with these painted mixing blades that chip over time and eventually all the paint/enamel is in chipping in your food. Not only that, they don't align perfectly with the bowl, one side will scrap and one side will have a gap.

We tried two different blades over the years when the original started chipping really bad. I found this one worked the best, not only did it do a better job mixing batter like cookies, it doesn't chip in your food after a year or two of use.

Stock KitchenAid Blade

This is what comes with the mixer, and like the replacement it is metal with a thick coat of shiny paint. This paint wears out of over time and starts to chip. You can adjust the height and prevent it for a while but eventually it just starts happening.

While this replacement blade is also similar build, the silicon edge prevents it from happening, at least after 2-3 years unlike the stock blade. It also does a much better job at mixing cookies (what we mostly use the mixer for).

You can find the replacement blade on Amazon for $19.99 shipped with two day Prime.
