DailyMotion has failed to respond to copyright infringement claims and will be blacked out in Russia in the coming week, after a Moscow court ruled in favor of TV channel Pyatnitsa owned by Gazprom Media.
Gazprom Media says they tried to contact DailyMotion repeatedly, but never received a response. As a result, they filed a complaint with the courts in May 2016.
Initially, the suit was for their popular show “Magazzino” having its content uploaded and shared on DailyMotion. DailyMotion deleted these videos shortly after the court ruling was issued at that time, but in August another show called "Patsanki” was being uploaded to the video platform which started another dispute.
Gazprom Media still didn't get a response from DailyMotion. On December 2, a Moscow court ordered a block or ban on access to DailyMotion from within Russia. Dailymotion did not appeal the decision in time, which has resulted in the court ordering their telecom regulator Roskomnadzor to block all access to the site.
In 2013, Russia tightened its anti-piracy legislation, and in 2016 reached an agreement with the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) ro protect copyrights.
In January 2017, the telecom regulator blocked Kinogb.net after Warner Bros filed a complaint.
In 2015, a TV channel TNT opened a dispute with YouTube have some of their videos withdrawn, which YouTube complied with. LinkedIn was also blocked due to not storing user's data on servers located in Russia.
Russia telecom regulator, Rozcomnadzor, will block DailyMotion within seven days.
DailyMotion is headquartered in New York City, but is owned by a French-based company called the Vivendi who also owns Universal Music and Canal+, with interests in Ubisoft and Gamesloft. With DailyMotion being labeled as a repeated copyright infringer, this could hurt Vivendi's reputation and their interests. Getting the block lifted might be possible, as DailyMotion will be seeking to appeal the Moscow Court ruling.

It's normal and expected, I can't figure it out it's either the YouTube shit policies of mechanical algorithms fagging videos , or this stupidity , it's like you either drop rights or you drop privacy :D , both can't go along with the internet.
It's extreme to block a whole site because a video gets uploaded , copyright claims shouldn't be issued so bluntly, nobody stole anything, it's as if you sign a NDA and not disclose to anyone that hasn't watched the video/series/whatever. Sure its a drop in income but I do remember people only recommending good shows and saying "I'm not going to spoil it, Watch it !" :D
Now there is so much shit out there everybody is obsessed with rights for this for that, so much pointless bs, shit shows being on the net is no big deal , it's like recording a VCR , oooh the underground , good artist tend to get recognition, sure they will have less cars to drive in , but this media business is so shit, I doubt DailyMotion claimed they produced the content, so how are they infringing on copyright claims, they didn't copy anything :D , somebody from russia did , anyway at least they have some laws , even if it's not a good idea.
I don't care much about big corporations.
and I see lots of people blindly voting you for curation rewards, your steemd is longer than berniesander's :D about 4 times , gratz :)

Hehe, thanks for the feedback. Yeah, DailyMotion didn't do it, but they host it, so that's thing they can target easily, as opposed to finding out who uploaded it. Easier to hold a centralized area responsible and target it, rather than trying to go after each individual. Lame justification.
What do you mean about steemd? Yeah curation-reward driven people are an issue that devalues the honest valuation of content on the platform. They just want $$$

about steemd , since I was watching bernie for instance he has 100 pages of data transactions so to speak , you have 400 so cheers , you've made more of a splash than a whale, because people have been voting for you and find what you offer interesting probably,
about steemit , it's normal when you give rewards , people to game them , somebody is bound to, different ideals, I think the fact that rewards have to be allocated is what is causing it, people want to steem on , so they rush , then it's too much to go through and you give up and vote , vote , vote , open one , vote , vote , mostly on rewards , since small posts won't gain much and as you've said , everyone suffers and we put in rewards before content :D , lol putin
:D

Interestingly enough, there is no built in mechanism on Steemit for attaching licensing to content. I noticed on the alpha version of Akasha that they have a drop down menu of licensing choices when composing a post.
