I don't expect Cornel West to endorse war, but in any case concessions of territory can only be on Ukraine's terms, and if West actually spoke to Ukrainians he would realize they don't want to concede their territory.
Likely because they are not as naive as West here that such peace would be enduring.
Ukraine has dealt with Russian interference its entire post-Soviet history. It has been at war with Russia since 2014. All along the way Russia has broken many previous treaties recognizing Ukrainian territorial claims. I don't blame Ukrainians for not trusting Russia. Russia has used every concession as an opportunity to further its interests in Ukraine.
This is of course why it is so perverse to say NATO provoked this invasion. NATO is the only reason Russia doesn't do the same to Ukraine's neighbors
