After being in remission for two years, the cancer has returned and has been assessed as Stage 3. She has very little money and a son, Lucas, who is 13. Her husband has left her. St Michael's Mount is a small tidal island in Mount's Bay. It has strong historical links to Mont Saint-Michel in Normandy. It was given to the Benedictine religious order by Edward The Confessor in the 11th Century.
The castle has been the home of the St Aubyn family since about 1650. Most of St Michael's Mount was given to the National Trust in 1954, who manage the public viewing of historic rooms in the castle.
