Coronavirus Madness - Long Lines in Honolulu Hawaii

The City Government is locking down the city of Honolulu this afternoon. I went to Sam's Club to pick up some supplies and the line to get in was huge. They were trying to limit the amount of people in the store so they pack them in in the parking lot. What madness.

Once you get into the store your have to wait in another long line to pick up paper products like toilet paper and paper towels. So much for Social Distancing.

I went to pick up some meat and chicken and the shelves were bare. This is so dumb because shipments to the islands are NOT affected so everyone would have been fine if everyone just bought what they need but no the masses have to hoard.

This is bringing out the worse in people.

I don't think many people are hoarding. Sure, there is always one or two in a crowd who act a certain way... but the majority of people are just doing their best for themselves and their families. Sadly, these people should have been prepared for something like this already, so in a way they are to blame for the empty shelves. If everybody always had 3 or 4 weeks supplies on hand, at all times, there wouldn't be supply imbalances like we're seeing all over the world at the moment.

I think it is a yes and no. Prior to the store setting limits people were packing multiple carts with as much as they could hold.

I don't necessarily see a problem with people buying lots of stuff. It's not immoral, it's not dangerous, it's not violent, it's not coercive, it's not threatening, it's not financially unsound, it's not illegal.... there's really no reason to be upset with those people, unless you're jealous toward them, or upset with yourself for doing it too.
Buying things for yourself and your family to use is never wrong. Let's not get dragged into the govt and mainstream media's "shame the hoarders" nonsense.
